Wedding guest help please

Could someone please help me find an outfit for a wedding in a couple of weeks? I usually wear jeans, and don't like dressing up, but would really like to make an effort for this occasion.
I'm 5' 8", probably a 14 on top and 12 for trousers. I have broad shoulders, small boobs and no waistline. I will probably need dress, wrap, shoes, maybe bag. Shoes are always a bit of a problem. I'm middle-aged, so nothing too short please.
Budget - don't really know. I begrudge spending too much on something which will only be worn once.
Any suggestions please?

A few questions
What type of wedding, is it very formal
What colours do you like/patterns
Do you like fitted or floaty things
What's your normal style for casual wear
Etc

Thanks @justaweeone.
No idea - probably not.
I'd live in dark red or olive green if I could. Don't particularly like patterns, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a bit.
I normally wear skinny jeans and a big jumper.

I don't need a hat do I?

Whenever I want a nice dress to wear I always go to debenhams as there are so many brands there and so much choice. I'm not far from the trafford centre where there is a huge store.

I like the Wallis one @justaweeone, but does it look too school-teacher-y for a wedding? I really have no idea!
@ChidiAnagonye Belts really don't help me, unfortunatley. I'd look like a man in a frock in that dress. No offence to men who like to wear frocks, it's just not the look I'm going for. Thanks though

What about those dresses with a funky pattern on the skirt? You know, like black cats or fruit. Where would I get one of those?

Love the blue one 😍

youngestisapsycho · 03/02/2020 14:54

Does it have to be a dress if you're not comfortable in them?
I don't wear dresses. Only been to a few weddings but I've always worn trousers.

justaweeone · 03/02/2020 15:04

What about a jumpsuit?

KedsAndTubeSocks · 03/02/2020 15:06

yeah, maybe. I'm open to suggesstions!

Jumpsuit I've been lusting after

leadbetter5 · 03/02/2020 15:18

I wouldn't do a hat or a wrap, bit old fashioned!

If you are more comfortable in a jumpsuit or a suit, then go for it.

Colette · 03/02/2020 15:19

Red coast one is lovely

KedsAndTubeSocks · 03/02/2020 15:32

Ooh, I'm liking the jumpsuits thanks. What do I wear over it, so I don't get cold, if wraps are passé?

I'm on the school run. I'll look properly later thanks.

I'd brave it without anything but you could wear a blazer.
Regarding shoes, you commented that they might be an issue, is there a reason why?

KedsAndTubeSocks · 03/02/2020 16:32

@justaweeone last wedding I went to I was freezing, so I want an option to cover up!
Re: shoes, I have size 9s, can't walk in heels and have skinny heels so I need a strap or I just step out of them as I walk. I tend to wear trainers, flip flops or boots.
