I ordered dresses from Next to be told they wobble in the wrong places. Husband now under the patio so need advice on next set of clothes. The lovely cost I ordered is fecking massive (thanks H and M for the crazy sizing) but the trousers and blouse are nice on hanger but I think not great in the flesh. On my fat belly flesh at least. I’m a14. Massive belly. Average boobs and big hips but kind of a papple rather than an apple or pear I think. First pics are my own trousers. Second are with new black stretchy ones which I think are better. But is it too loose and informal? I’m training a customer and though it’s in Europe where men tend toward the jeans/ chino plus shirt, the women seem very smart, but not suit smart. To tuck or not? What shoes??
Or can you recommend a dress on very quick deliver which might look ok on my shambolic peri menopausal bod?!
Thanking you

Sorry OP but I don't think that blouse does anything for you at all. The shoulder pads made you look like a linebacker.

What's your budget?

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/01/2020 21:36

What about something like this dress and boots?

polkadotpj · 30/01/2020 21:38

It doesn’t have shoulder pads 😂😂. Must be puffed up or I have massive shoulders !

Or this Kin dress? (they have it in black as well as blue) Kin is good for hiding a multitude of sins but still looking chic/stylish without being corporate.

I like that dress but don’t think that shape suits me being a short arse. I tried a next petite in similar but it was the one my husband described as wobbly. I’d order it but £90 is outside my budget too. I had an h and m voucher hence buying there. Got to maxx voucher too or could spend £50 of my own. I feel like I’m impossible to dress currently . I am 2 stone heavier than I should be and my clothes show it. I’m not one of these people who can carry weight and still look good. I look shocking 😢.

Wow, it really looks like shoulder pads, especially on the 2nd photo. That must be monster puffing!

littlebillie · 30/01/2020 21:57

What about this

I like your nails.

polkadotpj · 30/01/2020 22:16

@StartupRepair thank you! It’s the only thing ok currently.
Don’t think I could wear a midi skirt that’s tight with this gut can I?!

That remark might seem a bit random. I meant to say the colour looks really smart and work ready.i find I feel smarter in dress and jacket than trousers and top. How do you go in wrap dresses?

Nomorewineever · 30/01/2020 22:32

I stand up and deliver training and I’m a similar size and height to you and certainly a similar shape. I dress in a variety of things but my favourite at the moment is black opaque tights and Mary Jane type shoes with a mid blocky heel. Then I wear a fat face Simone dress which is patterned with a dark background. I love the dress as it’s incredibly flattering and comfy and it has pockets. I’ll layer it with either a ‘smart’ cardigan with 3/4 sleeves or a light jacket. If you order a dress size down as they come out massive!

Sounds casual but it’s surprisingly smart/able to dress up.

Had a lovely wrap dress for sons christening that I got rid of because I lost weight it would be great now! If they fit right without being too booby they’re nice

This is nice .Skims over the body. I am 5 ft 4 and it is just above the knee on me.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/01/2020 06:31

The blouse doesn't work because of the high neck and puffy shoulders.

I got some normal blouses (patterned, chiffon material) from Sainsbury's the other day in the sale - one was £9 and one was £7. Might be worth a look?

polkadotpj · 31/01/2020 07:06

Thank you all. Going to have a good read and link check while at the hairdressers!

Hobbs has some lovely stuff. And the sale is within my meagre budget too. Thanks again. I appreciate the steer

I'm currently at hairdressers having a new colour (feeling in need of a change- perhaps unwise when feeling fragile about myself) and ordered some Wallis dresses to try

Ok. More pics of dresses. I've bought a blouse I like so that's one day sorted
Opinions please

Oh OP I was expecting you to be fat by the way you describe yourself! The dresses are nice. Don't put yourself down so much. I would recommend getting some good support underwear for confidence though, I wear Spanx or similar all the time to give a nicer shape under clothes.

polkadotpj · 01/02/2020 18:47

I've got some great pants which go up to bra. I'll wear those. Which dress is best? I can keep 2/3 ideally 3/3 if you think they're all ok as they were in the sale

polkadotpj · 01/02/2020 19:25

I think I'm getting a cold sore and my husband said "I think you should just wear black and blend in". I had a separate thread on him being a knob but appreciate any opinions on the frocks folks
