I ordered dresses from Next to be told they wobble in the wrong places. Husband now under the patio so need advice on next set of clothes. The lovely cost I ordered is fecking massive (thanks H and M for the crazy sizing) but the trousers and blouse are nice on hanger but I think not great in the flesh. On my fat belly flesh at least. I’m a14. Massive belly. Average boobs and big hips but kind of a papple rather than an apple or pear I think. First pics are my own trousers. Second are with new black stretchy ones which I think are better. But is it too loose and informal? I’m training a customer and though it’s in Europe where men tend toward the jeans/ chino plus shirt, the women seem very smart, but not suit smart. To tuck or not? What shoes??
Or can you recommend a dress on very quick deliver which might look ok on my shambolic peri menopausal bod?!
Thanking you

Following for ideas!

banivani · 01/02/2020 20:02

Your husband is clearly no one to rely on at all. Commiserations.

Can’t claim to have a great eye and it’s so hard to see from the little photos on my phone but I’m not hating the blouse tucked into trousers. It doesn’t look like a great fit though but on the whole I’d be willing to call the shoulders “strong and powerful” and not “freakishly big”. Wink

Lucked · 01/02/2020 20:02

The middle blue dress works for you. I don’t think any of the polo/turtle necks are flattering. The last blue one, where the material is slightly fitted, is better than the first blouse and black and white dress which combines a high neck with a loose fit.

Marks and Spencer’s always do a £19.50 shift dress in a variety of colours/patterns. Try it in your size and one up to get the right drape. It got me through many a work event or anything that didn’t involve jeans when I was more appley.
here

Lucked · 01/02/2020 20:04

here are all the colours

blondiebrowneyes · 01/02/2020 20:13

I actually think those M&S dresses above would be a good option. The high necks aren't that flattering on big boobs and the M&S one looks smart without being booby or revealing.

CountFosco · 01/02/2020 20:14

The blue dress where you can see your waist is awesome, you look fabulous in it. Second favourite is the other blue dress followed by the pink shirt tucked in.

Hodgeheg3 · 01/02/2020 20:16

I was about to recommend the M&S dresses but someone’s beaten me to it. I’ve got black and black & white and they’re great, easy, smart, go in the washing machine and don’t need ironing

Gemma2019 · 01/02/2020 20:34

The middle blue dress looks great on you.

How did your hair turn out, are you pleased with it?

Bellsandwhistle · 01/02/2020 20:53

Middle blue dress is good on you. Other two I’d return. The m and a dresse would work. You need v or scoop neck not high. Dresses that skim bit aren’t oversized. Opaque tights and Mary Jane’s as someone suggested upthread.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 01/02/2020 21:44

Middle blue dress a massive yes!

Return the others.

polkadotpj · 01/02/2020 21:46

I'm so miserable knowing that there's a better shape under the fat. Got 2 blouses too today that my beautiful 8 year old helped choose and was honest yet positive about choices. "H" however pulled his face and said "what are they for?" Knowing I'm tearing my (new and orange) hair our about my shape and feeling very low

I think you look great in all 3 of the dresses you put the pics on of! The first and the 3rd are my favourite. Classic with a wee bit of funk in them

ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 21:55

I'm a size 16 with broad shoulders and a belly
Wallis utility shirts I wear a lot, tucked at the front. They're v drapey so flattering
Attached some bad photos Grin

You look fab in all the dresses but if you have to choose 2 go for pics 1 and 2. Also keep the top from the first pic for if you go out in the evening while you’re working away.

ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 21:56

Oh and this joe browns dress is lovely, I wear it a lot

Trews2019 · 01/02/2020 21:57

I’m the same shape as you and I don’t suit separates so I think you should stick with the dresses rather than that last set of pics.

Scarecrow2016 · 01/02/2020 21:57

I think you look great in all apart from the last shift dress. I liked the first blouse trouser combo.

You have a great shape and good legs. I think in your head you think you are bigger than you really are.

Trews2019 · 01/02/2020 21:58

That Joe Brown dress is lovely on you!

polkadotpj · 01/02/2020 22:20

I wish it was my body in the joe browns. 😂. Great norks but not mine

ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 22:22

What's the neckline of the first dress like, the floral one? I think the middle blue is better than the last because of the neckline

polkadotpj · 02/02/2020 09:20

Floral is a high neck with the shirred elastic (spelling?)

Apologies for use of the word norks too. I’d had wine. No wonder my belly is big Confused
