What shall I do with my hair (pic)?

I've been growing out the colour for over a year. It's thinned a lot with age. It's got a wave in it but needs washing in the pic so looks extra straggly.

I've made an appointment for a cut tomorrow and have no idea what to ask for. Any advice?

Cut it so you don't have the extra bit that goes along your shoulders . It will make it look thicker too !

How much should I get chopped off @oohnicevase? Should I aim for a particular style?

Yes, it's natural apart from the last 3 or 4 inches. I started going grey at age 15 and dyed my hair for over 30 years so I was surprised when I started to grow out the colour that my natural hair colour wasn't as bad as I thought .

I'd go for something like this. Slightly longer at the front will keep it looking un-frumpy and the jaw length is usually flattering.

It's actually longer than jaw isn't it? I think it would suit your face shape.

Shoulder length blunt cut bob, would look great!

Your hair colour is lovely. I would do as @oohnicevase has suggested. Don’t go with layers/graduated as I don’t think you’ve got enough body.

OP I agree with vase, get a few inches off so it sits just above your clavicle. And your hair is a lovely colour with nice natural movement.

Blunt bob, fashionable and would look good - gets my vote. @oohnicevase suggestion also would be flattering. Gorgeous colour and congratulations on giving up the dye! (I'm 9 months dye free and my hair doesn't look anywhere near as nice as yours).

Thank you all. It's done. I went with a blunt cut bob, slightly graduated (although I'm not sure they've taken the back quite short enough).

I'm not going out tonight and no one at home has commented on it. Typical. I've spent the last 4 or 5 years being upset about how much it's thinned, trying everything possible to make it better to no avail so I'm pleased with how it looks at the moment. Thank you

My hair is thinning too- i've tried growing it longer and it just doesn't sit right as it's thin on the top but bulkier round the bottom- I'm sticking to a shorter style for now!

Mine has thinned a lot at the front and on the top. It is thicker at the back but it feels much finer overall. I'd love short hair but it just doesn't suit me.
