And if so, which.

I really like Tom Ford bags. Amongst others.

@AlexGS I need that long to save up for it! 😆 😆 Plus I don’t worship at the altar of youth; I don’t think being 50 means one suddenly becomes any less sexy (not that sexy is a priority of mine anyway - sexy is about other people, sexual is about me).

But that’s a discussion for another day... 🙂

WellHolyGodMiley · 27/01/2020 19:56

I know! Me neither. 49 and I know this thread is about bags and i didnt plan to go this deep but i have worked my way through some beautifully empowering books in the last 3-4 years. I feel ready for the third phase, even in a youth obsessed patriarchy, this may well be my best chapter.

That was firmly tongue in cheek! I meant longer to enjoy/use it. How much do they cost? I dare not look! £2000+?

Ninkanink · 27/01/2020 20:03

Ah ok! It’s hard to know for sure and I just like to challenge those notions wherever I see them (hopefully without preaching too much as I don’t mean it to sound that way, it’s just how I talk about important stuff!).

I wish I could buy one, now, heh. I’ve not looked in detail either as I don’t want to covet it too much but I suppose it’ll be anywhere between 3 to 5 grand depending on which one I want. Plus the extra 2 grand they’ll be charging by that time...

Ninkanink · 27/01/2020 20:05

Who knows, maybe by that time I’ll decide that I no longer GAF about bags and maybe I’ll get something else entirely!

TemptressJosepheen · 27/01/2020 20:08

I got the LV pochette Metis in reverse monogram for my birthday this year.
I love it. It's small but carries a lot and looks really well with my Autumn/Winter wardrobe.

TemptressJosepheen · 27/01/2020 20:10

Lol, just noticed the name...give my regards to Biddy, won't you? Grin

AlexGS · 27/01/2020 20:11

I love the Mayfair bags @Ninkanink Much more affordable too!

WellHolyGodMiley · 27/01/2020 20:16

@temptressJosepheen Grin don't know why I picked this name! Biddy would have been lucky with a pvc bag from Penneys. Biddy's mother Mary probably had a nicer collection of bags.

Harrods rewards gives 10% off purchases every so often, online and in store.

I used to love Mulberry, but when Johnny Coca took over, I lost interest as the designs and quality weren’t to my taste, and went to Bottega Veneta. Now Daniel Lee has taken over, and I don’t love the new designs.

Where would you recommend selling bags? Maybe getting rid of the ones I don’t use would make some space for new ones.

TemptressJosepheen · 27/01/2020 20:56

WellHolyGodMiley, so true! Mary had such understated elegance and even as a child and young teenager, I thought she was beautiful.

WellHolyGodMiley · 27/01/2020 21:15

Same here! I didn't understand how such a glamorous woman like Mary could have a daughter like Biddy. I can't even remember if they got on! All I remember thinking was ''oh so your parents can be rich but can grow up and be poor. fuck ''

I know what you mean about the change in creative direction at Mulberry a few years ago. It took me a while to warm to it, but I think they’ve got a good mix now of heritage and more current aesthetics.

Oh, I forgot my Aspinal bag! I’ve got a portobello mini saddlebag in Bordeaux.

I’d quite like a little red Gucci belt bag to use as a clutch, actually. And a little Valentino Rockstud bag, too, in the perfect mushroomy taupe. And possibly an YSL clutch... sigh it’s just never ending.

Mulberry selling group on Facebook, NPN Bags, Vestaire and similar places.

@Ninkanink This company do a Mayfair copy:
www.sagebrown.co.uk/womens-collection/handbags/all/navy-croc-betty-bag?p=1
They are two other designs similar to the Mayfair as well, plus lots of nice handbags.

Ninkanink · 29/01/2020 10:27

@thisenglishlife Thank you. Unfortunately I have a rule that I don’t buy direct copies. But I’m always happy to find a new brand that I can look into. 👍

Sadly I have no budget for bags for a while...but I just bought this one which had been on my radar for a long time, and I got it on eBay for an excellent price so I’m happy. It’ll fill a hole in spring/summer.

That’s a lovely bag, Ninka.

I read somewhere that bucket bags are coming back into fashion (I think they’re classic so weren’t ever out), which is awesome.

I wouldn’t mind the LV Neonoe in epi leather (it apparently can be carried cross body) or the classic Noe.
I have an old purple bucket bag (Lizzie I think) from Mulberry, but it doesn’t have a cross body strap. I could probably find a strap, but I haven’t had much luck.

WellHolyGodMiley · 29/01/2020 10:47

That sagebrown site has good bags.

I love less well known bag sites too. I like what I like.

Ninkanink · 29/01/2020 10:47

Yes I’ve always loved bucket bags. This one is small so will do nicely for relaxed summer days, as well as evenings. It’s also in my perfect tan.

Mulberry do crossbody straps now. Or you could get one made on Etsy!

Ninkanink · 29/01/2020 10:49

Aurora London is another brand with reasonable prices (relatively, at least) that I’ve heard very good things about if people want to have a look.

Ninkanink · 29/01/2020 10:53

I also love Fairfax and Favour, but they’re on the more expensive side of high street. Lovely aesthetic though (I am liking country chic a lot these days, it’s easy to wear and quite comfortable).

twosoups1972 · 29/01/2020 10:53

I can vouch for Aurora London too, I have a red Gigi which is great and reasonably priced.

WellHolyGodMiley · 29/01/2020 10:59

Will do! Thanks. Im at work now. On a break. Will peruse these sites later 👍

I got the Gucci soho disco Bag in black recently and i really love it, goes with everything and the size and strap length are perfect! I got the Chanel boy bag a few years ago and I'm never reaching for it because of this so might sell it.
