Indian wedding

I’ve been invited to the evening do of an Indian wedding. Super excited. The venue is a very classy hotel, and it’s in April. I’m looking for advice on what to wear! I asked Dh to ask what the dress code is (the groom is his friend; I’ve only met him once and have never met the bride), and the response was ‘glam’. A quick google has informed me to avoid black, white and red, and that bright colours are preferable.

Any other tips? I don’t have anything appropriate in my wardrobe as I usually wear muted colours, and I don’t generally go to glamorous functions these days. I’ve got a fabulous bright green ball dress, but suspect that would be overkill...

I don’t really know where to start.

The green ballgown sounds perfect, you definitely won't be overdressed. I'd probably try to go for floor length and reasonably modest if you want to buy something new. You'll have a blast, Asian weddings are amazing!

Floor length, really? Gosh. That level of glam. Maybe I can wear my ball dress then! It’s Amanda Wakeley and has only been worn once. I’d love to give it another outing.

But it feels a bit too much for a wedding!

That dress couldn't be any more perfect!
(Ive been to a few Indian weddings as my dp is Indian)
I am so jealous of your amazing figure too!

legalissues · 21/01/2020 23:53

(You will be very under-blinged compared to the other guests though...so never worry about being over-dressed .... there is no such thing at an Indian wedding)
But you will have a blast, they are usually great fun, especially in the evening when the dancing starts.

DramaAlpaca · 21/01/2020 23:54

That dress is perfect.

It's perfect, I have an Indian DIL too, its a fabulous colour and will fit in perfectly. Have a great time

VenusClapTrap · 22/01/2020 00:08

Thank you everyone! There will be some dieting required to get back in it! It is a remarkably flattering dress though. I am very short and this dress is very lengthening.

That dress is gorgeous. It's perfect for the wedding, feel free to dress it up even more. Have a great night.

VenusClapTrap · 22/01/2020 14:53

Thank you! I’ve got some very high gold sandals that I wore with it last time, and I think I’ll keep my eye out for a gold clutch.

Indian weddings are extremely glamourous, women's clothing wise. You can never be over dressed for them, especially if you are wearing European clothing.

mummykauli7 · 22/01/2020 16:26

Hi I'm Indian. Yep that dress would be great!! You can add some fun bangles aswel if you really wanted to be on theme.
