Wedding Dress

I am getting married abroad on the beach in Sri Lanka, April 2021 (I know I still have some time but would like to be organised and give myself a good amount of time to look around)!

I have started to look at dresses and I have found two different ones which I really like and I will be making the trip down to London to try them both on (I will link them at the bottom).

I just wanted some input from others to different brands/shops to look for or even dresses!

I am looking for a very simple dress, something timeless and beautiful. (I have been married before, so I have had the huge expensive dress) I would like to keep the budget to around £1000 and I am happy for it to be white, ivory, pale pink, champagne or something light. I am a size 6 and around 5'3, I really like the idea of spaghetti or thin straps but I am defiantly open to ideas! It will also be very hot at that time of the year! Thank you :) x

I was going to suggest Ghost too. They also dye really well if you wanted to change the colour after the wedding.

They are both beautiful dresses. I suspect, however, that they will need so much altering to fit that it might be worth considering having one made instead.

Thanks for all your replies!

@CoffeeBeansGalore I just worry with JJhouse stock coming from china, they have some lovely thing on there but I am not sure it is worth the risk!

@SmellMySmellbow @WhatchaMaCalllit Do they a store/stockist in England ? I can't seem to find one on their website ? They have some lovely things on there!

@TheJaneAustenBookClub YES! As soon as I saw her I said that was exactly the dress that has been in my head this whole time, It is beautiful! If only my budget could stretch to Dior Sad

I am defiantly going to look at all other suggestions and go into store and try some on! Thank you

No they ship from USA. I ordered stuff from there for my wedding though, no probs. It's the wedding arm of Anthropologie.

This is slightly over budget, but a bargain! The Outnet also do 15% off for first orders to bring it under 1k too.

You want one of these, there is a showroom in London and they’re perfect for slim, petite women:

There is a lovely shop in Devon called Daysofgracevintage.com that sells vintage dresses suitable as wedding dresses. Think beautiful fine white cotton Edwardian style or 1920s sleek gowns. All one off dresses, stock changes. Might be suitable for a hot weather wedding and you are petite so would fit the clothes I am sure.

Manchester designer

Look at her other dresses, people started purchasing her dresses for wedding and so now that’s how she labels them, some interesting styles

I would go with a Charlie Brear slip dress - one of the most gorgeous things I've ever put on my body! Similar to your Galvan option. Lots of second hand ones online. Perfect dress for a beach wedding! Congratulations.

PrettyLittleThing is selling a copy for £25!

Seriously though, could a good dress designer not make a copy for £1000?! You could surely get something really nice for that. Might be worth talking to a few.

I got married in Sri Lanka. The wedding organiser there arranged for a tailor to make outfits for DH and me. They fitted beautifully and were perfect for the setting. I had sari style. Don’t rely on getting shoes there though, do take them with you. Fortunately I had taken a pair of pretty jewelled flip flops that I was able to use.

LaVieEstBelle159 · 31/01/2020 17:49

Oh and it cost about £150 for both of us (2005).
