What tights with a navy and red dress?

I’ve just bought a French navy dress with a red pattern and I’m thinking of wearing it with tan ankle boots. What colour tights would look best?

Natural.

Navy opaque tights.

Any other votes for either of those?

Any chance of a a pic, because. IMO it depends how much red and his much navy.

Id say red with navy shoes. That's if you're confident with colourful tights.
If not opaque are good idea.

If it were me id wear.
Red tights
Blue shoes
Red bag
Either gold or silver nail polish
Red earrings

Nude or navy. But I'd wear the navy tights with navy shoes or boots that are polished regularly with navy polish so they are nice and dark.

I was hoping to not have to buy new shoes! I’ve got tan or black ankle boots and black shoes. Or long black boots but the heels are a bit high

Depends on the length and bottom of the dress and style of boots. Probably navy opaque.

There's a few options there OP. I just can't imagine any situation ever where nude tights and tan ankle boots would look OK.

That aside, with the style of dress you've posted - which looks fab! - I would say the tights should be opaque whatever colour you choose.

I think that if you want to lift the dress then a red leather belt would be much classier.

I would go with the tan boots and navy tights.

Same as twosoups1972 I know some people think it’s a huge fashion crime but I wear black opaques with almost everything
