Hello having heard lots of great things I have got one of these in the sales in the hope of being free of shaving this summer. Anyone want to share experiences/ tips? Going to pick it up on Wednesday....

Janeways does that sting at all? I find my bikini area sometimes I get a sting and other times no feelings at all,

I have also done my toes Blush it stings like mad there for some reason but worked after 3 treatments and no more shaving my toes WinkGrin

aceofbase1 · 26/06/2020 22:05

The higher the contrast the better it works, so pale skin and dark what is optimum

Retailqueenie · 27/06/2020 08:28

I’ve done 6 treatments over lockdown and I can’t see any difference? I’ve the lumea compact..

I’ll persevere for another couple of months but frustrating it’s not working. I have it on the max setting too! I’m olive skinned with dark hair..

RandomMess · 27/06/2020 09:26

Retail I wonder if it would work better for you after any suntan you currently have had faded so at the end of winter?

Retailqueenie · 27/06/2020 12:09

RandomMess I had no suntan in Feb when I started and tend to fake tan rather than sit in the sun...

Maybe I’m just the wrong skin tone for it...

RandomMess · 27/06/2020 12:27

Possibly, fake tan still reduces the contrast and I think the instructions say not to use tanning products whilst using it...

JesmondDene · 27/06/2020 17:32

Once you are hair free, so through the initial weeks, how often do you use it to maintain smoothness?

Marahute · 09/07/2020 12:57

OK this thing seriously works. I am due my 4th treatment on Saturday, and the change really is dramatic already. Not totally hair free yet but it's decreased massively. I shaved my legs over a week ago and they are still relatively hairless. Ditto armpits and bikini line. It's seriously life changing and I am loving it. I have been wearing whatever I like and not being restricted by, have I shaved? Liberating! My only regret is I didn't do this YEARS ago.
I reckon there is a good chance that by six treatments it will all be gone. Smile

CallMeThePooPatrol · 09/07/2020 20:21

Oh just stumbled across this & going to grab my lumea right now! Bought it at the start of lockdown (bit of a splurge) and I’ve only used it 2/3 times. It’s all the shaving that is a chore. Especially my bikini line!
I’m most excited about getting rid of my hair big toes 😂

TeaAndHobnob · 11/07/2020 14:53

I've used mine a few times and it's had a dramatic effect on my legs. I go weeks without shaving now. Bikini line definitely patchy but not as dramatic as the legs. Chin/neck it has worked really well, underarms hardly any difference. Although I didn't realise that about the deodorant, and I use a long lasting one. So I might hold off on that. I've done about 5 sessions altogether but I've let things slack off recently.

Marahute · 31/07/2020 09:52

Is anyone else finding that their skin is taking a long time to purge the "dead" hairs? Legs in particular? My results have been fabulous but I have lots of ti

Marahute · 31/07/2020 09:55

ahem toddler flailing caused me to post too early!

I have lots of tiny little black spots, which are actually dead hairs. I know they are dead because some of them are poking out enough that I can tweeze them, and they come away with absolutely no resistance (also they are not growing). But a lot of them are too short to tweeze and are just stuck there. Wondering how long it will take before they evacuate, or if I need to do something...

Theladyofshalot · 31/07/2020 10:43

Thank you for posting your insights!

I saved for years to have laser treatment and then had a family emergency so the funds went to that. I am very hairy (except where it matters - the irony! My head hair is now so thin i wear a wig) I do have light olive skin and very dark hair so i am hoping for a good outcome.

I can't afford to buy new as mentioned above and there are several on selling sites locally - but the sums asked for range from worryingly cheap to i would just buy it new for that price.

Is there anything i should be considering for a second hand purchase for example its life limited so it loses functionality after so many uses?

*I have medical grade cleaning wipes and would thoroughly quarantine it - as well as clean/disinfect it before use

Glitterb · 31/07/2020 11:08

@Theladyofshalot keep checking Boots and amazon for good offers. Black Friday is normally brilliant! I got mine for £150 less from Boots in the sale and it’s a good model.
I am not sure I would want to use a second hand one really, as you cannot guarantee whether it is faulty etc

IndiaPlace · 03/08/2020 20:20

New purchase and so impressed - now 6 weeks ( 3 treatments in) No hair growth under my arms at all. Legs - no growth around the back, but some growth on my shins, mainly on the bone of my leg. Bikini line and chin odd hairs growing.

I've completed the first phase now according to the app.

Has anyone any advice please.
When hair regrows, so on my shins, do I still redo the whole leg or just the shin area where the hair is. Can't seem to find the information i need.

Muuuuuummm · 13/08/2020 13:55

Hello, I definitely want to buy one of these but there are so many models to choose from. I would obviously like to spend as little as I can get away with and I am not worried if it takes a little longer or needs plugging in. I am most interested in using it on my pubes but other areas would also be a bonus. Can you tell me which models you have please and if you are happy with them?

Misfi · 13/08/2020 17:37

Hi I got the Philips lumia model and its fantastic, I got in April and wow. My armpit hair is gone my legs are patchy but think might be bits I'm missing. I've only done one go on bikini area yet but I'm sure I'll have good results with that to Grin

Muuuuuummm · 15/08/2020 13:32

Well I got one. I did the test thing on my pubic area and on my leg. I was too scared to go higher than a 3 on my nethers but went right up to 5 on my leg. I will try my pits tonight and zap with ernest at my legs and crotch tomorrow. I'm quite excited to see if it works

Sweetpea1989 · 15/08/2020 21:04

I’m 10 weeks PP and I’m curious to know if I could use the lines over my c section scar?? What do you think?? I’m sporting a rather lovely bikini line moustache at the minute 😂

Alwaysinpain · 15/08/2020 21:10

I'd love one but I don't have dark hair so it won't work on me :( Gutted

Muuummy · 16/08/2020 13:27

I was wondering about scars too. I havent been brave enough to try

Muuuuuummm · 17/08/2020 10:26

So now I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong. It seems too easy. It takes me so little time to do. I think I've covered the whole area. I have now done all the areas I want to and I'm already inspecting the skin to see if I can see any dead hairs. I'm really looking forward to doing it again and seeing if theres any difference. Roll on two weeks!!

Mortigua · 17/08/2020 18:23

How is everyone getting on? I thought mine was helping but not so sure now and I must have done 5 treatments now.

aceofbase1 · 20/08/2020 20:29

Mine has taken about 10 treatments and I still have stubborn small patches

Mortigua · 20/08/2020 21:52

Ok so maybe it does all take a while. I THINK mine is helping growth to be a bit slower in some places but my legs have patches that don’t seem improved at all. Maybe it will be more successful over winter as my skin is now quite tanned compared to when I started
