Will this date quickly?

I think I love this coat. But even at sale price, it's quite pricy if don't get a couple of years out of it. What do you think, colourwise and in general?

Coats that fasten like that just irritate me. They either make you look like a sack of spuds tied in the middle or slip open constantly making you cold.

Check out Brand Alley for good quality coats, I got a wonderful Jaegar one on there last year for £100 (much admired)

I am only 5 3

Palaver1 · 09/01/2020 19:24

Definately overpriced

I have this which looks like a similar fabric but no tie belt - only £15 from new look. www.newlook.com/uk/womens/clothing/coats-jackets/formal-coats/rust-brushed-oversized-cocoon-coat/p/634442625?comp=PDP-Color-Swatch

I think it will date quickly, you would get bored of it within a couple of years frankly.

It’s a combination of the unusual colour and the teddy fabric. I think you should pick one aspect only. I also hate the waist tie. There are SO many better options.

I don’t wear my winter 2018 neutral coloured teddy coats anymore - I think they’re boring/outdated and have since replaced them with nicer coats. I have lots of clothes though so loads of options, I genuinely didn’t wear a teddy coat once this winter.

If you intend to wear this frequently or as your main coat, don’t do it. Buy it if you’re happy wearing it seldomly go for it. I would be worried about outfit clashes as it’s such a unique coat.

I’ve just bought a wool mix khaki long pea coat from la Redoute in the sale for £70. It’s to replace a very similar one from there that I’ve churned out every year for 4 or 5 years. It’s lovely and warm and has lasted really well. It can be dressed up or down. I love it!

I got one identical apart from the colour from H&M and was cheaper too.
I’m 5’3 and it fits really well.

The wind will cut through a 100% polyester coat like a knife. I'd either find one in a proper fabric or find one that's way cheaper. The colour is lovely though, and the style is reasonably classic, though I think you have to be quite tall and slim to pull off those tie belts. I don't like it when manufacturers don't include a proper belt buckle on a belt - I find a lot of them look quite bulky and untidy otherwise.

It's now low in stock and only available in size 10

Spend a bit more Jaegar wool wrap coat. They last years and always look immaculate

Yehdivvy · 09/01/2020 22:57

Try Hobbs or Jaeger for that price in the sales.
