I think I love this coat. But even at sale price, it's quite pricy if don't get a couple of years out of it. What do you think, colourwise and in general?

It is lovely Smile

It's one of the most classic styles of coats there are. Max Mara have been churning that style out for years for ten times that money.

I would say some body shapes may not be able to pull it off, and you need to make sure the length is right for your height and what you plan to wear under it.

Re the colour, thats quite subjective and to do with your colouring, and the other colours you wear. No, it's not a neutral in the way black, camel or grey are, but for lot of people in their wardrobe it would be considered a staple. As greens go, it's a pretty classic tone.

BUT - it's 100% polyester, so won't be warm at all, and the quality may not deteriorate before you tire of it anyway. Which makes it a lot of money for what it is, even on sale.

baileysandamincepie · 31/12/2019 15:43

the quality may deteriorate...

Tinyandpetite · 31/12/2019 15:43

That’s absolutely gorgeous! I had the money, I’d get it.x

Atalune · 31/12/2019 15:45

For polyester it’s expensive.

However it’s a lovely colour and shape.

Feelingpoorlysick · 31/12/2019 15:46

Colour is lovely and classic but the style looks like a dressing gown in my opinion. It won't suit everyone.

EntirelyAnonymised · 31/12/2019 15:46

It looks like a bobbly chenille dressing gown to me. There’s something off about it in the pictures which suggests it will look even worse in reality.

littlebillie · 31/12/2019 15:50

There is wool versions at that price in JL 50% off today

NaomiFromMilkShake · 31/12/2019 15:53

Yes it will, it is a lot of money for polyester.

Mummyshark2018 · 31/12/2019 16:02

It's lovely

MoltonSilver · 31/12/2019 16:07

The color is gorgeous and it's worth trying on but I suspect it might look a like a dressing gown.

Bubblysqueak · 31/12/2019 16:11

Love the colour but the second photo makes it look like a dressing gown.

Theroigne · 31/12/2019 16:14

It looks a bit like a dressing gown on the model. The style and colour are pretty timeless though. Not impressed with polyester at that price!

newshoooooes · 31/12/2019 16:15

I'm only 5ft 2, so I think I'll leave it. Dressing gown is probably right! A girl can dream.

sunshinesupermum · 31/12/2019 16:15

No to polyester because it won't keep you as warm as wool and it is expensive even though the colour is lovely.

ihatethecold · 31/12/2019 16:20

The ted baker coats are half price at the mo.
I picked up a beautiful coat for £169 this week. It was half price. It’s lovely and soft and warm.

I’m also 5”2 and this fits perfectly.

It’s a cashmere blend.

newshoooooes · 31/12/2019 16:29

@ihatethecold that's beautiful. Love the colour. Not sure it would suit me though.

The fabric looks like those teddy bear coats that are everywhere at the moment, so it may date. Having said that, I love the style and colour. Not sure I'd pay that much for it though. I would if it was wool.

CoatTails · 31/12/2019 17:02

Cos coats are brilliant in the sale!

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 31/12/2019 17:04

Love the colour and classic shape. However - the tie thing around the waist is awful - that's what makes it into a dressing gown. Also, I bet its an itchy fabric. Get one in a nicer fabric, with lovely big buttons!

dontgobaconmyheart · 31/12/2019 18:31

Mango have a very similar one that I think is nicer OP. I like it but the texture is a bit dressing gowny and I don't think ever lasts well. I nearly bought the mango one but ended up deciding I wouldnt get huge amounts of wear out of the colour, especially post xmas.

Scattyhattie · 01/01/2020 17:01

I've a similar textured coat and paid about £50 in last winter's sale, but they are everywhere this winter so I think you could pick one up much cheaper. I don't think it will last as is more prone to catching/going fuzzy, its not my main coat.

I love the green but for cost think you could find something that will be warm & last longer.

Mistlewoe · 01/01/2020 17:06

That's still overpriced for a polyester coat

PH30B3 · 01/01/2020 17:10

Do you live near a Jeager outlet at all? There was a stunning similar coat in there the other day such a beautiful material down from £399 to i think £129.
