Talk to me about going grey if you a brunette please

Just dyed my hair with a different dye to usual, and it's not covered the grey at all (Clairol Nice & Easy; I usually use John Frieda). I'm sick of dyeing it every four weeks but also really can't face just trying to grow it out for months and months and months.

Has anybody managed to go grey gracefully? Or find a way to look half decent without dyeing it every few weeks?

I don't mind going to see a hairdresser. In fact, I'm half tempted to go and ask somebody to just dye it all grey for me!

I was fed up of my roots needing done every four weeks, just stopped doing it, luckily the grey has grown in evenly with no line of grey on the crown of my head.
I love it and will never dye it again, infact when i look at photos of myself when it was dyed it looks so fake! Now its so much nicer and the freedom of not having to get your roots done is great!

I did this with 2 x colour strippers and A LOT of toner to stop my hair being banana yellow!
Thankfully I have strong hair and it's in good condition now the treated hair has grown out.
It's hard work to do it this way but I wasn't prepared to grown it out, I'd have succumbed to the dye bottle.

@Auldspinster, that colour is lovely. I’ve used henna a couple of times and it’s never come out as well as that, the white hairs have gone pink. What henna brand is it?

Auldspinster · 03/01/2020 17:32

I just get whichever henna powder they have at the middle eastern supermarket, making sure that it is 100% lawsonia with no added ingredients. I usually mix it with rooibos tea.

Heres another photo taken in bright sunshine, it's not normally this vibrant.

It’s lovely. I’ve only used Lush, and both times it’s left my hair dull and pinky.
