Did you ever wear makeup? Did you stop at some point or have you never worn it? Did you ever think about wearing it? Why don't you? Do you generally put much thought into your appearance or are you not at all interested?

Not when round the house or popping the food shop (pointless waste to me) but to work and out yes always (unless running extremely late!!)

Also nails and lashes always done. That’s just me.

MargotB7 · 28/12/2019 22:41

I wear a bit most days but not heavy. I do think people who wear loads more on a night out look so different. I wouldn't want that extreme. I like a tiny bit of foundation and mascara then if I'm dressing up I wear a bit of eyeliner and lipstick. I'm a youngish looking mid 40 year old.

Saying that I'm envious of anyone confident with a natural face.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 28/12/2019 22:41

Late 40s

Never got the hang of it!

Try every couple of years and do a make-over somewhere, I look so much prettier with make up, and love the look....

But after an hour or so it oxidises and goes orange and/or patchy and also I can never recreate it at home. I have had makeovers from Bare minerals, Benefit, Clinique, Laura Mercier and bobbi brown Grin all crap on me

Am jealous of people who can do make up without tide- lines, oxidation or smudging but I am just hopeless

Make up just does not love me

Titsywoo · 28/12/2019 22:41

I don't not wear makeup at all - I do if I go out for the evening but generally I don't during the day although I have started filling in my eyebrow recently as they are sparse and it does look better. Generally I'm not too fussed by my appearance and my skin is very good so I just don't bother with it. It's not something I think about in the morning. I'm quite happy with my face without it tbh and wearing it when I go out is more for a change than anything else.

BackOnceAgainWithATinselHalo · 28/12/2019 22:42

I would add that I have a fringe and wear glasses so there’s probably enough going on on my face already Grin

EBearhug · 28/12/2019 22:47

No. Used to swim a lot and never got into the habit. Also always had hayfever, and wasn't going to risk mascara near weepy eyes. Still swim, though not as much. Now 47, and I think it would be weird.

I did used to use nail varnish, but got out of the habit about 10 years ago. I use moisturiser, though not religiously, and I don't go anywhere without lip balm - get chapped lips a lot. I get my eyebrows shaped. That's it.

DramaAlpaca · 28/12/2019 22:47

I'm mid-50s. I don't feel the need to wear makeup, I've always been comfortable with how I look without it and I hate the feel of it on my skin.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/12/2019 22:47

I have done in the past but now I don't :

I wear glasses so they frame my face .
My hair is long enough now that I don't look like a bloke
I wear a white tunic at work (and gloves) and if I get an itch I cannot scratch my fair so usually rub my face on my collar . So I don't want transfer
The gloves and constant handwashing ruins my nails and I cannot wear nail products at work

I have make up in a drawer .
I will occasionally draw myself some brows (but I prefer the Revolution 3 Day Dye.......even when my darling DS told me my brows were "ginger" . Cheers DS you git )

I cannot wear lipstick, my mouth is pathetically small and thin. If I wear any red I look like a drag queen

Of course the REAL reason is my skin is good , I don't need coverage and I'm bloody gorgeous Grin

stuckinthemiddlewithtwats · 28/12/2019 22:53

Never worn it and can't see the point. I already get up at 5am for work so having to waste another lump of time to cover up what I actually look like seems ridiculous to me.

Also can't see the point in wasting money on all those products either. Never been asked why I don't wear it, only comments received have been to say my skin is nice so they wouldn't bother either if they were me.
I don't really care what I look like, but I do think I've started to noticeably age now I'm in my mid 30s.

Beautiful3 · 28/12/2019 22:54

Used to wear make up every day until the children came along. I wear it occasionally now the children are older. But only eyeliner, mascara, brow pencil and lipstick. I used to have dreadful skin that needed foundation, but now its fabulous, even though I'm nearly 40.

Afrigginggoat · 28/12/2019 22:55

Don't wear it and never have, except I was compelled to have v subtle for my wedding. I like looking like me, can't be bothered with the faff or expense and hate the feeling on my skin.

Patsypie · 28/12/2019 23:06

I have great skin but love wearing make up. I hate the fashionable look now of mask like foundation, Scouse brows, and false eyelashes! I love a smokey eye and strong lipstick but my foundation is light and certainly not mask like.

WonderWomanBra · 28/12/2019 23:06

I wear it everyday except for maybe the weekend when I get to stay at home and relax.I do the school run without my make up and feel confident to go natural but then I like putting a bit on for work.At night I will always remove my make up though.I wear foundation, mascara and lipstick (nudey pink) The only time I wear false lashes is for a wedding or a party.

Cuddling57 · 28/12/2019 23:07

@SleepDeprivedElf
I just don't feel like participating in a culture that says men are ok without makeup but women are haggard. It's shit. Women look beautiful as they are.
^^ this is so true!
I wear under eye concealer and mascara daily. Sometimes light foundation and lipstick to a party. I'm just not good at it all and end up looking silly!

Jellybeansincognito · 28/12/2019 23:14

I used to all the time- since having kids I just don’t have the time to care anymore.
I’m comfortable in my own skin, yes I look tired and yes make up enhances your good bits when applied right but I feel so much better now during special occasions/ the odd day I have time.

LauraMipsum · 28/12/2019 23:17

Did you ever wear makeup? Yes, I tried when I started work - I grew my hair and tried wearing eye shadow and mascara.

Did you stop at some point or have you never worn it? Lasted about a month with the above. I hate the way it feels on my face. After that I would occasionally wear ridiculous make up to go clubbing (full glitter, bright colours) or have another attempt at the work make up for job interviews.

Did you ever think about wearing it? Why don't you? I hate the way it feels. I rub my eyes absent mindedly sometimes and don't want to smear eye make up everywhere. It makes my face feel like it's heavy and melting. It's time consuming and I don't think it achieves much.

Do you generally put much thought into your appearance or are you not at all interested? I wear what's comfortable, and what's smart for work, usually suits and shirts. I don't weigh myself or diet but try to stay healthy. I'm not bothered beyond that - you get the face God / genetics gave you (delete or combine according to preference) and fretting over it seems to me like a real waste of time.

MashedSpud · 28/12/2019 23:19

I used to wear it but over time I don’t as much. Sometimes I’ll wear eyeliner, mascara and a bit of lip gloss but it probably looks like I have none on compared to the Ru Paul’s drag race make up style a lot of women have adopted.

Ineedanamechange79 · 28/12/2019 23:19

I only wear make up when I'm going out, which is very rarely nowadays. I have never been a huge make up wearer but often wore eyeliner mascara and lipstick as a teen. I don't think I owned a foundation till I was about 20.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 28/12/2019 23:20

I used to wear makeup almost every day, but I stopped when I realised that I wasn't wearing it to look or feel beautiful, it was to make myself look/feel acceptable. That shocked me a bit and made me think about a few things I was doing to get approval from others.

Now I don't wear any kind of makeup at all, because I don't want to. It feels completely foreign to me, like I'm a toddler drawing on her own face. I also feel that my face is fine (in the sense of fully functional, I don't care if it's attractive or not) and I don't need to hide it. If other people want to wear makeup then that's fine too, as long as it's because they want to and no pressure is being applied either way.

Ineedanamechange79 · 28/12/2019 23:21

I do gel on my nails though. But I have crap weak nails and I bite them if I don't have gel on. I do it myself 99% of the time, very rarely go to a salon.

Canyousewcushions · 28/12/2019 23:24

I like wearing make up, and after almost 8years of disturbed sleep post babies, my complexion certainly benefits from it in terms of looking less haggard!!

However, when my PFB one year old started waving the mascara in front of her eyes and the blush brush on her cheeks etc I decided to stop wearing it so much on my non working days. I don't want to give my girls the impression that I don't think I'm beautiful just as I am. The reality is that I look very tired and it's aged me, but as a strident feminist I hold my head up high and head out bare skinned to make the statement that I am fine just as I am.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 28/12/2019 23:38

Never really have My skin is allergic to everything so foundation, powders, lipstick are all out occasional mascara wearer when I was told to be more polished Hmm for work

My guide is if it’s not to do with biology & women are expected to do it when men aren’t then it’s sexist crap - makeup, uncomfortable shoes, clothes you can’t run in etc etc
resist Grin

ConstanceL · 28/12/2019 23:41

I used to wear make up during my 20s, but now I only wear mascara and eyeliner if I go out in the evening but not generally during the working week. I stopped using any skin care products about 5 years ago and after about 3 months my skin started to look better than it ever had. So I don't feel the need to ever wear make-up on a day to day basis. I only think about it if I'm going out, and would perhaps stretch to eye shadow as well as liner and mascara if it was a really special occasion like a wedding. I do generally put thought into my appearance, I straighten my hair daily and wear nice jewellery usually. But make-up isn't a must for me.

mellicauli · 28/12/2019 23:42

I never really wore make up on a day to day make up. I thought I looked ok without it (being plump makes the skin look good). Sometimes I wore lipstick if I was going out in the evening which graduated to foundation and lipstick when I hit 40 (no blusher or eye make up required ..still looked better without it). When I hit 47 I thought I really ought to start wearing make up ever day. But I keep on forgetting. I do pay attention to my clothes, spending plenty of money on the right pieces for the right occasion. I am very keen to avoid frumpiness. I buy nice perfume and wear it every day, I struggle with my hair which never looks right. I can’t be bothered with being uncomfortable so wear glasses not contacts, flat shoes not heels, close cut nails not talons.

OhMsBeliever · 28/12/2019 23:45

I've never worn it bar a few teenage fails. It feels horrible, I can't stand it on my skin and want to rub it all off. Sensory stuff!

I've never been bothered either so it doesn't matter to me, I don't really think about how I look. Unless I have a big zit like I do currently. Angry

I don't really notice it on other people unless they are orange or have scary eyebrows.
