Skinny jeans for skinny child

MsAwesomeDragon · 27/12/2019 18:44

Dd2 is 9 and is desperate for jeans that fit her. She's tall and skinny. We can find jeans that are long enough, and they have the elastic in the waist to tighten them up, but she ends up with a huge amount of fabric bunching round her bum, which she obviously doesn't like as it feels really odd.

So does anyone have any ideas where I can find jeans for a child who needs age 10-11 for height but could really do with age 7-8 round the waist and bum? Or do we just need to accept she can't have well fitting jeans till she's into adult sizes? Just live in leggings for the rest of her childhood?

Not terribly trendy but M&S have some nice jeans for DCs that can be adjusted at the waist and don't seem to bunch up elsewhere.

I’ve got this problem with DD (11)! Trousers/leggings often gape round her waist or if they do fit round the waist, they are too short in the leg. She’s currently got quite a few trousers /jeggings from H&M which fit pretty well without the need for adjustable waists which bunch.

moreismore · 27/12/2019 19:14

I would say H&M are slimmer fit.

Otherwise maybe enquire about local seamstress?? If you had a few pairs of trousers altered at once it might be worth it...

MsAwesomeDragon · 27/12/2019 19:21

Thanks, we'll look at h&m. And if we have no luck there we'll get someone to alter some.

Zara kids? Or river island?

TuckMyWin · 27/12/2019 19:26

Vertbaudet, if they go up to her age. Or yes, H&M are cut slimmer and longer.

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 27/12/2019 19:27

I have similar problem with dd1 who needs age 9 in length but 7 ish in waist. We have found that next slim fit skinny jeans are ok, they have the elasticated waist and do need to be taken in but not as much so they don't bunch up stupidly.

MrsHardbroom · 27/12/2019 19:28

H&M do skinny jeggings and they fit my tall, skinny 7 yr old really well

McFarts · 27/12/2019 19:29

Matalan, was the only place i could get skinny jeans for my DD when she was younger. She was (still is) very skinny and petite. At 17 she is now only size 4 or 6...

happycamper11 · 27/12/2019 19:30

Definitely H&M- dd 10 is still wearing age 5-6 shorts for school but we've just got away with a pair of H&M skinny jeans in age 8-9 actual waist is a bit big but everything else is tight so it all stays up and they are long enough

Sweetooth92 · 27/12/2019 19:31

Levi’s have super skinny in their sale, ages 10 up fall into teenager but may be a good try

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/12/2019 19:32

H and M or Next.

slipperywhensparticus · 27/12/2019 19:33

Try boys Jean's

widgetbeana · 27/12/2019 19:36

You need 'name it' jeans. My daughter is a very very slender tall girl. I even have to take in leggings she is so slim. But these jeans are perfect fit.

Really really excellent fit for tall and slim girls.

OpposableThumbs2 · 27/12/2019 19:37

H&M but look at the older kids section, I think it's aged 8-16, not in the age 2-10 section.

My DD is 8, but needs an aged 10-11 for height and can fit in to her sisters age 4-5 knickers.

Madwomanuptheroad · 27/12/2019 19:39

We have similar problems. For a while gap did a pair of jeggings that were cut okay but unsure if they still do them. Zara have the odd ones that fit. H&M kids jeans are way to loose but we found in the adult sale section women's skinny shaping jeans in a size 25 (size 0) and they pit perfectly. Strangely enough the non shaping ones do not fit. Then got her a second pair on ebay.
My daughter is also 9 and tall.

terriblyangryattimes · 27/12/2019 19:40

H&M or next would be where I'd start. I have a super tall 6 year old who is getting slimmer by the day and she hates that bunching too!

wishuponarainbow · 27/12/2019 19:42

Have you tried New Look? They do high waisted skinny jeans (have 3 buttons at the front) which fit my very slim daughter perfectly-the high waist works as no 'sticky out' back or ruching that you can get from the elasticated ones. Good luck!

cultmaskid · 27/12/2019 19:42

Too shop with a 24 waist?

winterisstillcoming · 27/12/2019 19:43

I have v. Skinny boys. The best fits are Abercrombie, gap and Zara.

randomsabreuse · 27/12/2019 19:47

Have you tried Primark? I've found their skinnies a decent fit for my 15kg 105cm leggy 4 year old. They seem to be slim and long enough although not the most fashionable.

Bessiebigpants · 27/12/2019 19:53

Zara game changer for my size 4 teen Nice long legs and good fit around the middle Poor kid spent years wearing badly fitted jeans She loves them she even has Mom Jean pair

BillywigSting · 27/12/2019 19:54

I would second h&m. I have a ds who is very long legged and slim(to the point where we gave up on long legged pj's as by the time he is wide enough for them to stay up they were up by his knees)

it's the only place I have found pants of any description that don't have inches of extra fabric around the waist in the right leg length

TitchyP · 27/12/2019 19:55

Definitely H&M. It's the only place I can get jeans for my lanky daughter. M&S were the worst for us, anything with enough length was far too big around the middle.

BillieEilish · 27/12/2019 19:58

Your answer is 'La Redoute' online. Get a couple of years up as French girls are smaller but skinny it seems!

Have exactly the same problem with DD. So, when she was 9 got her age 11 I think (check their size guide) skinny jeans.

Cheap and stylish. You can alter the waist with the internal button things. UK sizes are very big.
