What is your least favourite grooming chore?

TeaAddict235 · 26/12/2019 20:28

Now that the beautifying rush towards Christmas is over, and in the countdown to new year parties, which grooming chores have started to grate on you?

Shaving my legs- boring, I'm happy to wear trousers until peak summer

Painting my nails- boring and pointless, they chip/ break due to the daily activities

Underarms- I cant be bothered

Please tell me your grooming irritations, or am I alone?

HATE doing my eyebrows. It’s such a chore that I leave it far too long every time. I should just pluck the stragglers every day but I can’t be bothered.

I stopped wearing nail varnish for the past two full years (barring Christmases) because I just couldn’t be arsed with the hassle and stress of keeping my nails perfect. It was so liberating. But I’ve just recently started getting gel manicures which stay glossy and perfect for 2 weeks, which I love!

I don’t shave my legs in the winter, unless I’m getting my legs out.

I rarely remember to use moisturiser on my face. I really should, because my face is starting to show my age. But actually, I’m okay with getting older so I just don’t care enough to actually stress over the state of my face.

Washing and drying my hair. It takes ages and only looks good for about 2 hours after.

Fleamaker123 · 26/12/2019 21:56

Definitely going to hairdressers. The time. The smalltalk. The cringey head massage when it gets washed. More smalltalk. Trying to smalltalk when the hairdryers on full blast. Looking appreciative when its finished. Then paying an arm and a leg for the sodding privilege. Yawn...

nearlyfinished1moreyear · 26/12/2019 21:59

Another one for eyebrow plucking here!

Ninkanink · 26/12/2019 22:03

Forgot to mention, my OH got me a Lumea Prestige in the BF sales, so at least with a concerted grooming effort over a period of time I will no longer have to bother with hair removal at all! 👍

lilgreen · 26/12/2019 22:05

Blow drying my hair. Can never get it right.

Gingerninja01 · 26/12/2019 22:06

Hair removal in general is annoying. Drying my hair takes ages but if I let it dry naturally it looks bloody terrible. I used to love getting my nails done pre kids but hair neither the time nor spare money now.

Saranvenya · 26/12/2019 22:08

Anything that involves my head hair, hate washing it, hate drying it, hate colouring it, hate, hate, hate the hairdressers.
Think it’s because I was a hairdresser for 25 years and hated it ( although I was quiet good at it).
Nails, eyebrows etc I get done every 3 weeks and really enjoy that.

lilgreen · 26/12/2019 22:10

Rarely do my nails as they chip so quickly and don’t like the look of acrylics. Wear makeup everyday but quite enjoy applying it. Hair removal isn’t too bad for me as I’m not that hairy or dark. Dislike how quickly my feet get rough. Nothing seems to keep them soft longer than a day.

Patsypie · 26/12/2019 22:55

Drying my hair, doing my pedicure and taking my makeup off!

CointreauVersial · 26/12/2019 22:55

Brushing my teeth.

I do it (obviously!) but find it a really boring chore.

Tinyandpetite · 27/12/2019 02:22

Tinting my brows and lashes! Love the look and I do it religiously, it is a chore - feels like one anyway but it saves me money going to the salon.

notangelinajolie · 27/12/2019 02:50

Drying my hair.

breakfastpizza · 27/12/2019 03:48

Another blow dry hater. When I make my millions, I'll have it blown out in my own personal home salon three times a week!

Floisme · 27/12/2019 08:28

I've ditched most of the chores I really disliked. Doing my nails was the worst - literally watching paint dry, and then I'd forever be watching in case I chipped them, I hated that.

Of the things I still do, putting on make up is probably the most tedious but I've got it down to a bare minimum and a lot of the time I don't wear it at all.
Hair care's ok as I don't blow dry it and I've been going to my hairdresser for over 20 years and always have a laugh there.
I know you didn't ask but the task I enjoy the most is plucking hairs off my chin. I find it strangely satisfying. And putting on lipstick - instant results for minimum effort.

After a lot of painful and expensive dental issues am prioritising my teeth! Flossing etc.

CalamityJune · 27/12/2019 08:43

Washing and drying my hair

abitoflight · 27/12/2019 08:43

Drying my hair. It's so boring and repetitive. I'll keep my hair going with dry shampoo to avoid it

abitoflight · 27/12/2019 08:50

And on a similar vein, buying bras. I'd rather go to the dentist. It's awful.
I'll be done for if Debenhams shuts as it has lots of different brands which I like as no particular brand is reliable.
Small boobs. Primark, VS, boux avenue and m&s don't fit me

FrowningFlamingo · 27/12/2019 09:56

Trimming my nails. It seems to take me ages and I hate it!

MurrayTheMonk · 27/12/2019 10:16

Drying and straightening hair. It takes ages because hair is thick and coarse and unruly. And ye to have to do to daily (if I'm going anywhere), because I genuinely look like Russell Brand if I don't.

TeaAddict235 · 27/12/2019 20:02

There is something about hair isn't there? Very interesting. I don't Tan, but I imagine that it must be a faff to do too.

Waxing my face Sad Been doing it for years and it's still hurts like an absolute bastard and the hairs are growing back within 4days!

StarlightLady · 28/12/2019 08:42

Hair removal, hair dressers, nails? I just switch off and zone out. None of it bothers me or is a core to me.

The only bit I don’t like is when it comes to paying at the hairdressers or salon.

Branster · 28/12/2019 10:35

Fleamaker123 that is exactly how I feel about going to the hairdressers. I loathe the whole experience. Luckily I can get away with not having to go every 8 weeks and nowadays I go in with damp hair, it’s only a trim and don’t bother with having it dried. In and out. I like the result but hate the process.
But I do actually enjoy all the other personal grooming and do everything religiously.
