Mustaches... how do you manage yours?

Meggymoo777 · 26/12/2019 01:29

The title really... I'm 31, enjoy and wear make up every day. Thought when I had to start managing my nose hair things were bad!!! 😂 but I have a mustache issue I'll have to tackle next year. Not hugely prominent yet I don't think but the make up definitely is starting to show it up which is not a good sign 🙈

How to you ladies manage your mustaches!

I borrow my dh electric shaver, takes all of about 5 seconds.

sunshineandshowers21 · 26/12/2019 01:32

i have my entire face threaded once a month because my make up ‘sits’ better on my face when it’s completely smooth. very painful though!

Meggymoo777 · 26/12/2019 01:36

@Fucket and how do you find the hair grows back? I'd love to dermoplane all the hairs off at home but worried about how they'll grow back. Would love a long term solution.

@sunshineandshowers21 I'm so lazy! I'm not sure I'd be able to drag myself to the beautician every month! Does threading result in complete hair loss over time though? I would consider it then?

Thanks so much 🥰

I use facial hair removing cream once a week, and then check each day for any determined hairs that have somehow survived.
I do it first thing, before switching on the kettle. By the time coffee is ready it’s time to wash it off.

Although recently, have wondered about the chemicals going into the waste water. Not sure if I’m doing any harm.

FruitcakeOfHate · 26/12/2019 01:39

Phillips Lumea. Total game changer.

Meggymoo777 · 26/12/2019 01:47

@Mintjulia see, I would really worry about the chemicals as well, is it a depilatory cream like Imaac that you use? Do you do that every morning? And if you don't mind me asking... how old are you? I just find it sad to think I have to add 'Manage Your Mustache' to my Ever increasing daily To-Do list 😭

@FruitcakeOfHate Tell me more! 🙌🏻

DramaAlpaca · 26/12/2019 01:49

I just pluck the odd facial hairs that bother me every now & then. Mine are fine & fair and not much of an issue.

Meggymoo777 · 26/12/2019 01:55

@DramaAlpaca I'm dark haired so my hair is probably slightly darker?

I just find that I've gone as long as I can ignoring it, my make up isn't sitting right anymore and making it appear worse... can't see it on my make up free days but those days are few and far between tbh and so enjoy make up and want to wear it 🙈

I'm actually excited to ask you all and do my own research and invest in a way to make this 'not a problem' long term?

OP posts:
Mintjulia · 26/12/2019 02:12

It isn’t Imaac, another brand I think. I’m 20 years older than you and started about 5 years ago. I am dark brunette.

I use it once a week, normally Sunday morning when not in my normal rush. It works for me.

SarahBeeney · 26/12/2019 08:48

I use a threading tool. It's like a long spring.
Hurts like mad but is quick. Much easier than waxing or creams.

ThePawtriarchy · 26/12/2019 08:51

The JML Flawless Touch wand thing - a revelation.

FabLaura · 26/12/2019 09:09

I epilate. The way to do this to minimise pain is to have it waxed off then start epilating at home. This way the hairs all grow back at different rates so you don't get mega pain, you're just doing a couple at a time

percheron67 · 26/12/2019 09:35

OP. You mentioned nose hairs - help please! How does one manage these sprouty things!

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2019 10:05

I use a dry razor.

redcarbluecar · 26/12/2019 10:11

Waxing at a beautician’s, but the cost mounts up - depends how bad you feel it is and what you can / can’t be bothered to do yourself!

tequilasunrises · 26/12/2019 10:21

Another vote for the Springy thing. I got mine for a couple of pounds and I love it. So satisfying to sit in front of the telly using it!

7Worfs · 26/12/2019 10:22

I’ve tried the following:

Laser - my hair was too fine for it

Waxing - hair grows fast and more of it. Avoid.

Threading - the best way, removes for weeks and makes them even finer.

Btw calling a woman’s fuzz moustache is a bit much, I call mine whiskers. Grin

@SarahBeeney could you link the threading tool you use?

Newfloorlamp · 26/12/2019 10:31

I use this most days- painless, no redness and takes 5 seconds:
Facial Hair Remover for Women Face, Anjou Flawless Painless Trimmer for Cheeks, Lips, Chin and Neck with Built-in LED Light, 1 x AA Battery, IPX6 Waterproof smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078NV25VC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DUibEbEZTS8CN

edgewater · 26/12/2019 10:39

I use veet sensitive on my face and stick a bit up my nose at the same time. The hair that comes out still amazes me!

pinkyboots1 · 26/12/2019 10:43

I either thread or use the springy thing.. after a couple of times I noticed that the hair definitely comes back lighter and thinner. I didn't like the chemical type removals

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/12/2019 10:45

I use a dermaplaning razor. Used to wax but it drags your skin too hard. It takes 10 seconds once a fortnight. I've been suffering since I was a teenager (hair is black) and Joleen bleach wasn't cutting it anymore.

StapleTakerOuter · 26/12/2019 10:47

I just wax , I keep meaning to use my lumea instead but I suck at keeping it up

AnnaMagnani · 26/12/2019 11:40

Electrolysis. Unbelievably painful but it never came back.

Fucket · 26/12/2019 12:24

Hi OP it just grows back the same, tbh my dh has thick dark hair and he uses the same shaver everyday. I feel if it’s good enough for men I’d try it.

God knows how much I’ve spent on hair removal prior to using a shaver.
