Mustaches... how do you manage yours?

The title really... I'm 31, enjoy and wear make up every day. Thought when I had to start managing my nose hair things were bad!!! 😂 but I have a mustache issue I'll have to tackle next year. Not hugely prominent yet I don't think but the make up definitely is starting to show it up which is not a good sign 🙈

How to you ladies manage your mustaches!

I wear a special mustache net, like General Melchett in Blackadder - that keeps mine in it's place! Grin

FurrySlipperBoots · 28/12/2019 02:04

Nah, in all seriousness, I get it waxed every 6 weeks or so when I have my eyebrows shaped. Dare I ask, when do the chin hairs start? I'm still reeling from the discovery of my first boob whisker last year.

Meggymoo777 · 28/12/2019 02:06

Honestly... I AM kinda terrified! Feel like I'm a bit too you! Will we start a support group @PhilomenaChristmasPie ? 😉

If I had dark hair, I’d do Lumea for sure. I have been waxing mine since I was 26 (and bloody nose hairs....) I do it myself, as it’s cheaper, but god, it’s boring! Now menopause has hit, (fuuuuck!) I’m turning into a bloody goat! Fine, whispy white hair is now long and some of the bastards are like fiberglass. I have to pluck them, and of course they’re invisible to the naked eye. Seriously sharp, though. I have also developed a witchy mole with black hair just out of eyesight on my jawline. Have to pluck that by Braille too.

Meggymoo777 · 28/12/2019 02:17

@FurrySlipperBoots Oh Christ! Do you have a link to that mustache net please!?!
Why did you have to mention the chin?!? 😂 I can't cope with all the other preening... chin hairs I don't have the energy to deal with!

@FurrySlipperBoots oh... and meant to say, I have had a few boob hairs!!! Plucked em and pretended they were never they! 🤫🙌🏻

Right, I'm about to do it, face steamed, cleansed, toned and a nice layer of Vit C serum applied... wish me luck 🤞🏻

For general peach fuzz removal dermaplaning is ace! It's disgusting and satisfying in equal measure when they show you what they've removed at the end.

BusterGonad · 02/01/2020 23:21

I've had chin hairs for years (am 40s now) they are thoroughly depressing but the are easier imo as they are slightly hidden and can be plucked, tash hairs are the devil as they are in plain sight! If I wasn't freckled I'd use the Lumeia.

CrowleysBentley · 03/01/2020 19:55

I use an electric shaver thing on the 'tache and a springy thing on the bastard wiry random chin hairs. I keep tweezers around to yank them out as they pop up too. Bloody things seem to appear out of nowhere.

Bimbleberries · 03/01/2020 20:21

flawless touch here too. It's so easy with a quick whizz around. It does come back, and of course it means it all comes back at the same time, whereas when I pluck it out, at least it's gone for a while. But when you do it, it's lovely and smooth (at first. Occasionally ingrown hairs later - you have to just do it regularly for best results).

I tried Lumea but didn't find it worked that well on face, though I keep meaning to do it again in between using the flawless touch, as I think that might help keep it away a bit longer. But Lumea doesn't deal with light coloured hair, whereas the flawless touch just gets rids of everything.

And flawless touch was about £20 from Wilko, versus £300 for the Lumea!

Used to use small brow razor all over but recently bought veet dermaplaner, with the oil, its bloody amazing! Quick, effective and cuts pretty close to skin (not pulling like razor) and didnt break me out

MerryDeath · 03/01/2020 22:09

i literally shave my face just like DH does, except mine is just a light fuzz and his are face pubes. i find everything is either too time consuming and fiddly or my skin doesn't like it. i love my lumea and have used that pretty much everywhere but it doesn't work on my upper lip, i don't think it's dark enough so i just razor when i wash my face in the am and have done for yeeeeears.

Bimbleberries · 24/01/2020 15:15

I've been using the Flawless Touch, and have generally been very pleased with it, though I hate seeing how much hair I get now if I forget to do it - plucking daily at least meant that I kind of lost sight of that.

But my problem now is that I get some ingrown hairs and bumps, and my face is often quite itchy afterwards.

Any recommendations for an after-shave balm that is good for women, and for faces?

When I google, I find mostly men's ones, or women's balms for intimate areas, or shaving creams for using before/during wet shaving.

What is good for electric shaving, for faces, and for women, so it doesn't smell like men's after shaves? any recommendations?

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 24/01/2020 17:12

As I now pretty much represent the missing link when au natural, I just shave from the forehead down. It doesn't grow back darker or thicker and I'm so glad dermaplaning has made facial shaving on point for us ladies.

formerbabe · 24/01/2020 17:23

Wax...I get facial waxing strips from the poundshop. Takes seconds.

Threading is great but painful.

Don't bleach. I worked with a girl who bleached her thick moustache. She just had a blonde moustache instead.

BeNiceToYourSister · 25/01/2020 15:17

Epilator (60 seconds every other day) and tweezers for the increasingly frequent long black whiskery ones (I’m mixed white/Asian and have the winning combination of dark facial hair and pale skin)
