Has ANYONE actually reduced wrinkles ?!

VanityScare · 23/12/2019 22:57

Me face is falling apart and it’s really getting me down & massively affecting my confidence AGAINST my better judgment although maybe if I’d looked after myself I would have aged much better than this!

Im dedicating 2020 to really sorting out my skin and need advice

I have thin pale Irish skin with many premature wrinkles and eye bags from a huge amount of stress as well as poor lifestyle decisions

My hairs pretty good it’s thick and dark brown and I don’t really have any greys at 45 but sometimes having young hair just contrasts with a battered old coupon!

So I have alpha liquid gold which I am currently using.
Want a dermologica extraction facial. Have that booked for 28th

Am planning to start retinol after Xmas.

But what I actually want is a medium depth peel. Actually I’d do a deeper one if it was worth it!

I am happy to pay to sort out my skin, but i need to know I’ll get results.

I want my wrinkles to become noticeably and visibly reduced. I want them gone. I need to improve elasticity... I seem to have loose skin on my face, under my eyes, at the side of my mouth. I have very stubborn sebaceous filaments which don’t seem to shift unless it’s mechanical shifting!

What is the best and most guaranteed way pls?

My skin is not particularly thin but these help me:

theordinary.com/product/rdn-aha-30pct-bha-2pct-peeling-solution-30ml?redir=1 for peeling twice a week and brighter, smoother skin - but test first and don't overuse

niod.com/product/fractionated-eye-contour-concentrate-15ml?redir=1 expensive but lasts ages and really has reduced eye wrinkles/crows feet (and I put it at edges of my lips too)

For sebaceous filaments, oil cleansing with any pleasant oil and a microfibre face cloth helps, and any clay & salicylic acid mask.

But don't forget to love the skin you're in!

GuyFawkesDay · 24/12/2019 15:42

Mine don't actually go but they look a helluva lot better since using glycolic toner, retinol and vitamin C serum and moisturiser twice a day. My 11s and fine lines on my forehead are definitely less noticeable

plunkplunkfizz · 24/12/2019 15:45

Do you actually need an extraction facial? Unless you’re having difficulties with blocked pores you’ll waste money on something that will aggravate what sounds like it could be quite delicate skin (if I understand your reference to it being Irish correctly).

Plumping from inside might be the best thing, hydration from diet and topical creams/lotions/oil plus prevention of further wrinkles.

VanityScare · 24/12/2019 15:47

Thanks everybody, will have a look at all these once I get myself scrubbed!

@plunkplunkfizz
Sadly the luck of the Irish doesn't extend to ageing, such ridiculous skin, honestly

Has anyone done a full on medical peel?

OP posts:
flyingchip · 24/12/2019 15:53

I've had laser, which really works but it's pretty horrific for at least 3 weeks!

girlygirl98 · 24/12/2019 15:57

Medical peels won't do much for wrinkles neither will Microdermabrasion or creams. All you will do is make your skin more moist which makes the wrinkles appear a tiny bit less prominent if you're lucky. Botox or fillers if it's your lower face that's bothering you is a much more effective tx

zippyswife · 24/12/2019 15:57

I have the same skin. I need to do something about this too.

plunkplunkfizz · 24/12/2019 16:16

I didn’t understand you to mean that you had youthful skin, I understood “Irish” to mean pale and quite thin. In which case an extraction facial might result in scarring and sensitivity if not done very carefully. A light chemical exfoliation might be better for pores than manual extraction.

VanityScare · 24/12/2019 17:04

OK @flyingchip
Tell me all about the laser.

Please..

@zippyswife

What have you tried so far?

OP posts:
VanityScare · 24/12/2019 17:06

@girlygirl98
Do you mean they're all ineffective and therefore not to bother?

I'd be willing to do a full three week flakey number. If it worked.

Nothing shrinks these beasts. My nose is like a negative of the night sky.

The only time I have ever been clear is when I had them all pinged out about 10 years ago.

Yes they don't work. TCA peels and medical peels are effective for skin discolouration or pigmentation damage not wrinkles. I used to work for a nationwide aesthetic company that use plastic surgeons and medical grade peels, lasers and injectables.

VanityScare · 24/12/2019 20:07

@girlygirl98

Thank you, that's really helpful.

zippyswife · 24/12/2019 20:10

@vanityscare I haven’t tried much. I have rosacea too and probe to flare ups. I got some of the ordinary last year and started on the retinoid- then I got paranoid that it was making my thread veins worse so stopped. Not sure what to do as I don’t want to exacerbate things.

freedom75 · 24/12/2019 20:11

I
Have pale Irish skin & Botox has worked wonders for my skin absolutely brilliant can't beat it

666onmyhead · 24/12/2019 20:13

Face lift ? That's the only way I irradiated a load of emerging wrinkles . Bloody hurts mind you. But knocks a good 5-10 years off you for about 10 years - then need to go back for a tweak again ( if you are brave enough as it really hurts !! ) oh did I mention it hurts - because it really does !!!

Whatdayisit2 · 24/12/2019 20:15

Yes. Drink between 3 and 3.5 litres of water EVERY day. Not squash, not tea or coffee, water.

VanityScare · 24/12/2019 20:37

@666onmyhead
Did you have a full face-lift? How long was a recovery? How old were you when you did it?

OP posts:
BestZebbie · 24/12/2019 20:54

Drink huge amounts of water, and put on a bit of weight? (The "face or arse" stage of life). Get to love wide brimmed hats to stop it getting worse.

90schic · 24/12/2019 20:58

Botox and filler

ElfishBiatch · 24/12/2019 21:01

Microneedling might help? Can you go and see a proper aesthetics doctor? (Not a beauty therapist!)
