Has ANYONE actually reduced wrinkles ?!

VanityScare · 23/12/2019 22:57

Me face is falling apart and it’s really getting me down & massively affecting my confidence AGAINST my better judgment although maybe if I’d looked after myself I would have aged much better than this!

Im dedicating 2020 to really sorting out my skin and need advice

I have thin pale Irish skin with many premature wrinkles and eye bags from a huge amount of stress as well as poor lifestyle decisions

My hairs pretty good it’s thick and dark brown and I don’t really have any greys at 45 but sometimes having young hair just contrasts with a battered old coupon!

So I have alpha liquid gold which I am currently using.
Want a dermologica extraction facial. Have that booked for 28th

Am planning to start retinol after Xmas.

But what I actually want is a medium depth peel. Actually I’d do a deeper one if it was worth it!

I am happy to pay to sort out my skin, but i need to know I’ll get results.

I want my wrinkles to become noticeably and visibly reduced. I want them gone. I need to improve elasticity... I seem to have loose skin on my face, under my eyes, at the side of my mouth. I have very stubborn sebaceous filaments which don’t seem to shift unless it’s mechanical shifting!

What is the best and most guaranteed way pls?

Ok - so was 45 at the time and was a face lift from ears down rather than brow lift too, and eye lids and bag reductions and couldn't drive for about a month as can't really turn your head properly for at least a month. Swelling took about five months to go most of the time, it would sometimes swell by the end of the day. That took about a year to go totally .

Tried that one @BestZebbie...genuinely did put on weight to fill out face.. Now. Am. Fat. And wrinkly

@ElfishBiatch
I actually have a microneedling machine, have heard it can strengthen skin... But also heard on here that it fills up your skin with scar tissue. No idea.. Which is correct, both sound plausible

@666onmyhead
It sounds traumatic!! Was it worth the pain
Did every one notice?
Did you get tweaked.. And why do. You have to,. Isn't it resetting the clock?
Emm
. Any pics?

A course of micro needling.
Then a profhilo course
Good skincare routine and plenty of water
SPF50 and don't smoke

I am over 70.and my skin is quite good, Its smooth and have no wrinkles. My bugbear, is that I have dark under eye issues, with lack of sleep, insomnia problem. but otherwise,I drink a lot of water,to keep skin supple, and use vaseline for a night moisteriser, and also for a base under makeup.. A cheap and cheerful oldie I am.

justilou1 · 25/12/2019 03:12

I have, but with changing my diet to reduce inflammation (no sugar - boring!!! It was to help migraines, but the skin has improved too!) I have also noticed that using vitamin c products helps my skin. I have found some irritate and some work better than others. The best value for money O have found is the Ordinary Vitamin C powder (L-Ascorbic) which I mix in with a bit of toner or their hyaluronic serum. (It’s not at all gritty or stingy - but having said that, I use 1/4 of the little spoon that comes with it. It dissolves immediately, and is enough for my face, neck and chest.) I live in Australia and have always worn sunscreen. Always.

Botox and Sculpta I would recommend, no wrinkles here at age 52 since started with them. Sculptra is a treatment that's injected into your face and stimulates your skin to make own collagen. It looks very natural and lasts a long time

onemouseplace · 25/12/2019 03:54

Book an appointment with a cosmetic dermatologist and get a prescription for prescription strength retinol plus whatever other advice they can give you, especially on introducing the retinol and precautions. I did this nearly 2 years ago now and it has honestly changed my skin.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 25/12/2019 03:58

I don’t know about wrinkles, but I have horrendous huge pores and have recently been despairing of sebaceous filaments. My new best friend is Nip & Fab Teen Fix Pore Blaster. Quite the transformation after using this!

Botox, fillers and profhilo. With a very skilfull doctor.

Ideally you need to see someone and see what they recommend for your face.

Start with small amounts and be prepared to spend £££

I second Botox and fillers to the cheek areas to plump them up. Lotions and potions don’t work. Fact.

Growingboys · 25/12/2019 07:34

Yes. Botox. Brilliant stuff.

shiveringsparklingtimber · 25/12/2019 07:38

My mum had a facelift years ago and it was so beautifully done that I wouldn't have guessed. She looked years younger, radiant. It was done in Switzerland, though. I don't need one yet but even when I do, I will never be able to afford it. I avoid direct sunlight, even with a sunblock. Moisturiser helps, and a good foundation but once the wrinkles and lines are there, no cream will get rid of them.

666onmyhead · 25/12/2019 09:00

You definitely get what you pay for with a facelift, choose surgeon well. Mine was subtle enough to look fab without looking plastic. People just said how well I looked.

It's been a few years now so I will be going back for a tweak . But eyelids and eye bags are still brilliant.
DH says it did take at least 10 years off me.

Yes bloody hurts but eventually you do realise it's soooooo worth it no pics as too outing !!! Soz !!

VanityScare · 25/12/2019 09:08

I'd be willing to do a face-lift.
I've had a lot of stress in my life, v toxic family, alcoholic ex h, autistic kids who didn't sleep for years and years . So Its more than just ageing really, i look so downtrodden and battered although my life now is happy haopy happy

was reading this yesterday and it’s stayed on my mind, so coming back to comment!

I’ve recently upped my skincare routine and am trying all sorts of lotions and potions. Whether it’s the placebo affect or just the feeling of wellbeing that goes with making the extra effort, or indeed a true difference, I am getting comments on how well I’m looking.

So, new things... double cleansing, first cleanse with coconut oil, second cleanse with cream cleanse, and using the little vibrating forero massage thingie... feels AMAZING. I’m using hyrolinic (sp) lotion religiously, mist water on it straight after so it really plumps up (tip from neighbour who is a skincare junkie). Do that in morning, rerun a at night... oil on afterwards and use a roller thingie to get it really absorbed... I’ve also bought an overnight hydration mask and an overnight lip treatment...

Banging in a couple of drops of tanner into my routine and using a dust of sparkly highlighter powder, lots of nourishing lipgloss, good brow lady, lilash etc... I feel at coming up 50, something is working!

I don’t look hugh maintenance, never have been, but really doing all this guff is making a difference!

Oh and overnight hair treatments!!!!

nzeire · 25/12/2019 21:42

Retin a in evenings I meant

Cuddling57 · 25/12/2019 22:02

@nzeire what are these magic roller thingies - do tell Xmas Grin

JMAngel1 · 25/12/2019 22:17

It is possible Irish skin here and I've been doing a Benjamin Button this year according to friends! 47 - key is to work through sensitivity to be able to tolerate the hardcore skin ingredients:
Biggest thing though is diet, loads of green veg, no sugar or dairy and tonns of water. Also exercise 15 mins every day.
THEN
TO Ascorbyl 12%
Hado Labo HA serum or Superdrug B essence
SPF 50
Any plumping moisturiser - Poppy Austin retinol green tea cream js gkkd
TO Marula oil over any lined areas to plump

Nightime
Alternate TO 10% Lactic acid every other night with a retinol product like A133
TO Marula oil

Every other njght 19 minutes Red LED mask
2 x week. 0.5mm microneedling

Every morning 5 minutes Nu Face
Weekly TO Glycolic/Sal acjd peeling solution

I've never looked better honestly. Someone at a party argued with me yesterday that I couldn't have been in her year at school as she thought I was in my 30s - I h2sed to sit behind her in form room!

JMAngel1 · 25/12/2019 22:18

Sorry that should read 10 minutes LED
