Has ANYONE actually reduced wrinkles ?!

VanityScare · 23/12/2019 22:57

Me face is falling apart and it’s really getting me down & massively affecting my confidence AGAINST my better judgment although maybe if I’d looked after myself I would have aged much better than this!

Im dedicating 2020 to really sorting out my skin and need advice

I have thin pale Irish skin with many premature wrinkles and eye bags from a huge amount of stress as well as poor lifestyle decisions

My hairs pretty good it’s thick and dark brown and I don’t really have any greys at 45 but sometimes having young hair just contrasts with a battered old coupon!

So I have alpha liquid gold which I am currently using.
Want a dermologica extraction facial. Have that booked for 28th

Am planning to start retinol after Xmas.

But what I actually want is a medium depth peel. Actually I’d do a deeper one if it was worth it!

I am happy to pay to sort out my skin, but i need to know I’ll get results.

I want my wrinkles to become noticeably and visibly reduced. I want them gone. I need to improve elasticity... I seem to have loose skin on my face, under my eyes, at the side of my mouth. I have very stubborn sebaceous filaments which don’t seem to shift unless it’s mechanical shifting!

What is the best and most guaranteed way pls?

Trilogy white jade roller!
A beauty tool that helps with the absorption of skincare products while assisting in increase in circulation blah blah blah!!!!

Ohyesiam · 25/12/2019 22:42

Face exercises! Two of my clients have asked if I’ve had work done ( my friends know me too well to ask that).
Look up facial fitnez on you tube. The whole video is 34, mins long, but the last 10 mins is faffing. I do it 3 or 4 times a well, it’s made sooo much difference. My actual skin ( not just wrinkles and sag) is looking good too, I think it gets more oxygen out something. Who knows? But it works, it’s free too!

I'm currently obsessed by my awful droopy eyelids so am following this for tips.

I can't afford a facelift until someone dies and leaves me lots of money so I'm doomed.

MissOrganisedMe · 25/12/2019 23:24

@VanityScare I'm sure that there was a thread on here about jojoba oil for sebaceous filaments. I'll see if I can find it .....

Hylamide sub q - my mum swears by this, and you can really notice when she's run out, especially round her eyes

LunaTheCat · 25/12/2019 23:39

Prescription strength retinol.
I am in my mid 50’s and relatively wrinkle free - I have worn 30plus SPF since my early 20’s and that has definitely helped!

VanityScare · 26/12/2019 08:37

@nzeire
I love the way you call it huff😂.. taking notes

@JMAngel1 so, this LED mask... I always thought they were a gimmick... so they really work? I’d happily buy one if so, was having a look at them on amazon last week

@Ohyesiam
I have for the facial exercises, you know the original lady in the eighties....how long before you see a difference? l do them sometimes at traffic lights!

@anonacatchat
Doesn’t sunscreen end up Blocking pores? I use it anyway, but I never believe that anything is truly non comogenic

I’m nearly 49. I noticed my skin suddenly age more after 45. I keep my face out of the sun (half Irish) to avoid damage and freckles/pigment. I have worn large sunglasses for decades on sunny bright days all year round and wonder if this is why I have few eye wrinkles. I have never smoked, do drink but keep it to a few at the weekend. I eat avocados almost daily and eat nuts and seeds regularly(vitamin E) but I have seen a slow down of ageing since I started The Ordinary retinol. I use 5% retinoid daily (after building up) and spf 30 daily, 50 in summer. I use a muslin cloth or flannel in the shower with vitamin c cleansing gel to remove makeup and exfoliate. Cheap , rich Aldi moisturiser in the day plus extra spf in summer. Frownies are good for flattening 11s temporarily for a night out.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2019 09:59

My dm & I have this skin, despite the Irish connection going way back.

Look at phenol peels, I always promised myself one if it all went tits after seeing one done on tv to a blonde who’d tanned a LOT, brilliant results.

I wore sunblock every day from 22yo but still got hyper pigmentations from using the implant. I’m fading them using vit c powder. It’s just not a great skin for aging well.

Do you wear sunblock daily?.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2019 10:03

Ooh I’ve got the led mask, I do red for collagen, green for reducing pigmentation production.

People think dh is my dad so something’s working. Dh not happy though.

I bought a lot of The Ordinary products over the summer and my skin looks better now than it did before I used them. I use Niacinamide each day and it seems to have made my skin brighter and fresher looking. I used a chemical exfoliator twice a week and the granactive retinoid emulsion at night. Also use a more expensive Murad moisturiser and the Vichy mineral 89 serum which plumps my skin. If used consistently and you stick to a regime religiously then your skin will definitely look better over time. For deep wrinkles though and immediate effects then botox is the key

Eleanorsummer · 26/12/2019 12:30

Botox, dermapen, good diet, small amounts of filler. You don't want a pillow face

Spaceprincess · 26/12/2019 12:53

Botox, fillers, retin A and sunblock.

RuggyPeg · 26/12/2019 16:56

Botox for the 11s and a tiny sprinkle for the horizontal forehead lines. Twice or 3 times a year. Don't overdo it!

Midface fillers for the droop/sag/jowls. Facelift in your 50s.

Great skincare for tone/evenness/the glow/clarity. Vit c, ha, retinol, spf, acid peels. The obagi nu derm regime is fantastic too. Hardcore...you'll peel like a snake for weeks on end but worth it.

Diet/sleep/exercise.....booooring.....

Profhilo did nothing for me. Hurt like buggery tho.

Upper eyelid surgery recently fixed my saggy lids. Was ok, bit brutal, lots of bruising for weeks on end.

Delatron · 26/12/2019 18:50

I had great results from a laser (3forme) downtime was only a few days.

Then on to Retin A. SPF every day.

Tried botox but I seemed to create extra wrinkles elsewhere (just under eyebrows?) which were far more ageing so have parked that for now.

Interested in eyelid surgery as everything I have been doing has worked on the rest of my face but I can’t seem to address the sagging eyelids. You can’t get a laser there, nor Tretinoin, not botox. That’s what is ageing me the most at the moment.

Have just bough LED light mask and have been using Nuface for a while.

lilgreen · 26/12/2019 19:55

It’s tricky. Everyone knows my age so would be silly to have a taut, shiny forehead at 49. I just want to look as fresh faced and well groomed as I can .

TurduckenFucken · 26/12/2019 22:39

My skin texture is good, but my crepey neck and thread veins are getting to me. Any tips for those?

(Sorry to hijack, OP Blush)

hiphiphoorayback · 26/12/2019 22:50

I have the same skin. Retin A works but you have to be really careful with as it can damage your skin

hiphiphoorayback · 26/12/2019 22:51

Facial exercises are good.

lilgreen · 27/12/2019 09:10

I thought facial exercises could cause more lines?

Expo · 27/12/2019 09:24

@VanityScare I have done a lot of research over the years. If you want to see a noticeable difference don’t faff around the edges with expensive lotions and potions. They don’t work. The things that work are:

Retinol. But forget buying this over the counter. For real results you need to get the prescription strength. I recently used it and it takes a while for your skin to get used to it but then pow. After about 2-3 months it actually makes a clinical difference. All that time and money wasted on the ordinary etc. Not worth it. Go prescription.

Acids. Vitamin C. Lactic. glycolic. They dissolve the dead skin cells generally cleaning up the face. Retinol at night. Acid in morning.

Then Botox. Amazing stuff. Don’t believe the crap about frozen face etc. It’s much more sophisticated now. It wears off. No risk. Do it and see.

Fillers. Just a bit here and there to keep everything lifted up.

Haven’t done a face lift. But imagine that too would work

Don’t faff around.

Expo · 27/12/2019 09:26

@lilgreen Botox doesn’t give you a tight shiny forehead if you get it done right. It’s amazing.
