Happy New Year, wardrobers Grin May we all come up with some really good outfit combinations in January!

Craftycorvid · 01/01/2020 00:41

Happy New Year! May I join you? Terrible shopping habit - mostly chazzie shops and eBay. This year I want to stop, take stock (er, literally) and shop my wardrobe. I’ve enough clothes to last out a nuclear winter. Grin

Veronicat · 01/01/2020 08:43

This morning I am wearing this fetching little number. My long fluffy leopard print robe from Primark. Trying to psych myself up into getting a shower and taking the dogs for a long walk round the Loch.

Happy New Year! Chasing a bull?! @Veronicat - I have no idea what the appropriate outfit for that could possibly be Shock

I’ve gone the other way to @Sooverthemill and I’m wearing velvet leggings + sparkly jumper and making the most of still being able to get away with them as daywear (back at work tomorrow).

Jumper: Oasis
Leggings: Mint Velvet
Trainers: Hobbs
Thermal base layers: M&S

Always sequins.

Leopard print jumper - mint velvet
Over a Primark vest
Topshop jeans
Next black ankle boots.

Sooverthemill · 01/01/2020 14:24

I do love a bit of sparkle but both DD and DH commented on how often I'd worn something 'Christmassy' so I thought I'd have a change! I do have a very shiny jumper I've not worn yet this year

Sooverthemill · 01/01/2020 14:25

@OublietteBravo a cape and a hat I reckon?

Veronicat · 01/01/2020 14:55

@OublietteBravo A lot of false confidence. He's a beast of a bull! And my Dubarrys šŸ˜‚

Veronicat · 01/01/2020 15:09

Just back from climbing a mountain hill and wearing mostly mud after misjudging the depth of a puddle šŸ™ˆ

Nice dress Moon , and welcome, dark florals and Docs are a great look

Moonfacebiggins · 01/01/2020 16:09

Thank you @Laska2Meryls. I love my DMs. I'm trying not to buy any clothes for a while as have too many but I would love some ox blood DMs

Sooverthemill · 01/01/2020 16:47

@Veronicat I'm scared of cattle of all genders (?) having been chased by a giant cow as a child ( I'm a country lass but you'd never know it). Pigs don't scare me. Walking kids and dog across the meadow where the cows graze to maintain the eco balance became a total nightmare. You have my respect!

Sooverthemill · 01/01/2020 16:47

@Moonfacebiggins welcome

Veronicat · 01/01/2020 17:59

@Sooverthemill I much prefer Sheep. You know where you are with a Sheep šŸšŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Hi ladies & happy new year!
One of my goals for 2020 (and beyond) is to massively reduce internet / phone use. So if you see me a bit less on this thread that’s why. I will still be checking in as I have genuinely found this thread helpful and it’s definitely contributed to me feeling much better about myself than a few months ago, so thank you all Flowers

I’m not completely leaving mumsnet, I just need to stop the mindless scrolling. I’ve been spending too much time on here (and FB and Insta) then claiming I don’t have time to exercise / read books / learn to cook better etc etc. So I need to put that right. I also want to be more present when I’m with my daughter & not constantly checking my phone, she deserves better.

This thread has got me into the habit of planning outfits again, being aware of fashions, people watching, thinking how to style stuff so long may those habits continue.

Will still aim to post a couple of times a week but every day is perhaps too much for me now.

happytobemrsg · 01/01/2020 21:48

Happy new year everyone! No selfie today but I finally wore my green New Look dress

mrsg did you wear the jumper over the dress or under it? Love dress by the way!

Today will be a jeans and hoody day. I’m planning on cleaning and tidying so no ā€œniceā€ outfits for me.

Sooverthemill · 02/01/2020 08:38

@KiteflyingKat that's a good resolution, I've set my iPad time limits again so I keep an eye on it.
@happytobemrsg great dress!

I'm in new trousers which I had my eye on for ages and waited for good sale discount. Jigsaw trousers are fab quality and a perfect fit for me and I still wear ones I bought in 2006! So not fast fashion at all and for me a good investment. We are still in holiday mode as DH not gone back to work yet. Tbh I will be happy to see the back of him

Shirt: ancient Autograph linen
Trousers: jigsaw jeans Dalston cropped ( not on me!) cords
Trainers: jigsaw old

@slavetothemoney I love that dress from Next. Is it recent?

slavetothemoney · 02/01/2020 10:02

@Veronicat, thanks 😊. Yes, if you search green floral dress on the next site, it should come up.

OublietteBravo · 02/01/2020 10:26

I’m back in the office (so please excuse the toilets in the background of my photo - it’s the only full-length mirror around).

Jumper: Jigsaw
Skirt: Boden
Trainers: Jigsaw

I’m considering whether or not to try and get through January without repeating an outfit. Because this should demonstrate that I have more than enough clothes and don’t need any more. I reckon I’m allowed to wear any particular garment twice (so long as the outfit combination changes). I probably need to exclude shoes from this limitation.
