Hairloss -Some perspective please...

Hi All,

I’ve been having some hairloss for the last seven months plus. I think it may be reducing to a more normal level now however. I wash my hair about twice a week and have put a picture of the fall out of a wash and combing out after. Does this look like a normal amount? 🤞🤞

Looks perfectly normal to me

NoParticularPattern · 13/12/2019 19:15

That looks very normal to me too. I’m 4 months PP and losing a hideous amount on a daily basis. It is slowly slowing down but my hair is very thin now. Hair loss is horrible and any regrowth is awful too!

DianaT1969 · 13/12/2019 19:32

I don't have any noticeable hair loss since I stopped dying my hair and embraced the silver. I had lots of shedding before. I had to use a strong drain cleaner in my shower every 2 weeks due to the build up in the pipes. Plus hair on my pillow, in my hairbrush etc. Too much information I know...😁

Sarahlouiseis33 · 13/12/2019 19:33

I do hope it’s slowing down - vain I know but I have been worrying relentlessly about it!
@NoParticularPattern I didn’t have hairloss after my little boy was born, my sister did though and she lost loads from the front of her head. Yes to the regrowth, it all sticks up straight! xx

I would say normal. I lost tonnes PP but it’s levelled off a year later and I’d say that’s what I lose now and hair isn’t noticeably thin

Sarahlouiseis33 · 13/12/2019 19:36

@DianaT1969 - I’ve got a catcher that gets it before it goes down the plughole! Oh and I have loads of silver too 😊

That's absolutely normal!

bobstersmum · 13/12/2019 19:42

In fact less than normal if only washing twice a week? I'm sure they say we lose up to 100 hairs a day!

BeaLola · 13/12/2019 20:10

Normal.

I have lost a lot in the last year due to age & illness and feel quite sad about it but then think it could be a lot worse - Im talking way more than your picture every day.

dudsville · 13/12/2019 20:15

Omg, I loose tons more than that. I have fine hair but a lot of it and it shoulder length. I wash twice a week, brush in the shower and then run oil through it by hand after. Always many strands of hair left afterwards. I don't worry because there's still a full head of hair. I thought this was normal?

autumnpie · 13/12/2019 23:12

It looks fairly normal to me however only you will really know what is normal for you.

I had an increase in hairloss earlier in the year and it turned out to be low iron levels (I had been ignoring how I felt and the hairloss finally pushed me into going to see the doctor).

So if you have any other symptoms like tiredness etc then it could be worth getting checked out.

TheReef · 13/12/2019 23:13

I get way more than that at every wash. Enough to stop the water draining away. Have done for years and my hair is still reasonably healthy and doesn't show signs of thinning

jackstini · 13/12/2019 23:20

Looks very small to me, my loss is about double that after each wash (2-3 days)

SarahBeeney · 13/12/2019 23:23

Looks normal to me.
It also depends on length and how often you wash your hair.

Sarahlouiseis33 · 14/12/2019 09:48

Bumping up xx

Looks normal to me

Bendybop · 14/12/2019 09:51

Thats nothing unless your hair is really short? Mine is 4 times this amount and v thick. Always shedded a lot.

PinkHairD0ntCare · 14/12/2019 10:11

That's nothing compared to what I lose every day! Luckily I have very thick hair.

Sarahlouiseis33 · 14/12/2019 10:46

@bobstersmum @Bendybop @PinkHairD0ntCare @jackstini @dudsville @youwereagoodcakeclyde @NoParticularPattern - Do you all lose hair when you brush it on the days you don’t wash? x

bobstersmum · 14/12/2019 11:04

Yes of course!

@Sarahlouiseis33 yes I constantly shed every day. I could make a wig every week out of it all.

hastingsmua1 · 14/12/2019 16:18

To be honest, my hair sheds all the time, it’s not necessarily that noticeable when I brush.

I constantly see long hair (with follicle attached) on my coat for example, or I can see 1 strand longer than the rest of my hair which is just another strand that has fallen out. I have lost a lot of hair recently.

Sarahlouiseis33 · 14/12/2019 17:42

Anyone else?

OP posts:
kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/12/2019 17:44

I’m 48 and my hairdresser commented on how much came out last time she washed my hair. She has suggested I talk to my doc so will do so when I see her next week.
