Not keen on either

JaceLancs · 07/12/2019 00:05

Or would you buy these instead

For those who may remember I’ve been trying to sort out an insurance claim for a diamond bracelet I lost
I have finally chosen a replacement bracelet which is being made at moment but have been given residual balance of settlement as a voucher for £2000 to be spent at goldsmiths

I think they’re all beautiful, but that maybe you’d get more enjoyment from a beautiful watch, because you’d spend more time looking at it.

JaceLancs · 07/12/2019 01:56

That’s a good point Mindgone
I’m also less likely to lose the watch!
I’ve never spent more than £200 on earrings as they are so easy to lose

The second watch is really lovely

Sadiesnakes · 07/12/2019 02:13

I can never understand people spending so much on diamond earrings. So easy to loose and nothing to distinguish them from a decent Swarovski pair, for most people anyway.

Sorry op, those watches are mediocre for the price too.

MerchantOfVenom · 07/12/2019 02:19

Sorry OP, I think both the watches and the earrings are just really blah. I mean, they're fine. Standard issue, generic examples of watches and stud earrings.

If you're going to spend that kind of money, I'd be so disappointed with those. I can't even see the difference between the two watches, so either / or, really.

But taste is so individual, so if you like one of them, go for it, and don't be dissuaded by naysayers on Mumsnet....

DramaAlpaca · 07/12/2019 02:26

The watches aren't my taste at all, I like a classic face with a leather strap, but you should choose what you like best. I do like the earrings, they are very nice.

cultmaskid · 07/12/2019 02:54

What about a Rolex that is second hand
The Watch shop in convent garden is really good but I can't remember the name

MerchantOfVenom · 07/12/2019 03:42

@cultmaskid - from the OP:

" but have been given residual balance of settlement as a voucher for £2000 to be spent at goldsmiths"

She has to spend the money at that particular shop.

SusieSusieSoo · 07/12/2019 04:49

I love the first watch and you will get the enjoyment from wearing it every day.

I have a similar style of watch (nowhere near as expensive or lovely) but a nice one nonetheless - it was a 31st birthday present I am almost 48 and I still love it x

filka · 07/12/2019 05:15

depends really why you want a watch - I think many people check the time on their phone. but I like this one:

kirkandpetal · 07/12/2019 05:30

I like both watches and omega is a good investment piece that should last a lifetime.

The earrings are also lovely but imo earrings are easy to lose or misplace, and agree with the pp that it's possible to get something v similar for much cheaper and no one would ever know the difference (try qvc diamonique for example)

I'd go with a watch.

weaselwords · 07/12/2019 05:34

I prefer the second watch, as I think rose gold is going to date. It’s great for less expensive stuff but for something that’s going to last, I’d play safe.

Juancornetto · 07/12/2019 07:16

I love Constellation watches, my aunt had one maybe 25 years ago and they've really stood the test of time, I'd love to have one at some point. I prefer the second one, I think the rose gold will date before too long.

JaceLancs · 07/12/2019 08:53

I did ask if I could buy a used watch as they do have some on website
Unfortunately that is not allowed under the voucher scheme - has to be new goods

OP posts:
JaceLancs · 07/12/2019 08:54

That radio watch could be quite interesting too

OP posts:
cultmaskid · 07/12/2019 21:17

@JaceLancs dangit!!
Second hand is such good value

cultmaskid · 07/12/2019 21:19

My husband so clever
Just said
Buy watch new with the voucher
Sell
Buy second hand classic watch like rolex

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/12/2019 21:53

Second watch as I agree with the pp who said rose gold will date.

Pipandmum · 07/12/2019 21:57

The first one looks thinner and a bit more feminine.

happytobemrsg · 07/12/2019 22:00

I LOVE watches & have spent an obscene amount of money on them. I don’t particularly like the constellation line - I don’t like how the strap blends so much with the face.

What do you think of this?

www.goldsmiths.co.uk/TAG-Heuer-Carrera-Ladies-Watch/p/17381728/

happytobemrsg · 07/12/2019 22:00

Re rose gold - if it suits your skin tone then it won’t look dated on YOU

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 07/12/2019 22:15

Look at the Omega Aqua Terra, my wife has one and likes it very much.

PrimeraVez · 08/12/2019 06:12

I have an Omega Constellation and love it, although I would agree with the comments about the rose gold dating.

Mine is all silver, rather than mixed metals but I have the Constellation Manhattan which has a mother of pearl face and 12 diamond hour markers.
