HELP!!!! Fake tan disaster!!!!

Aaaarrrrgghhh · 06/12/2019 08:42

I had a spray tan done yesterday. I showered it off last night. Everything is great apart from my hands which were way too dark and also orange! I’ve got a formal event to go to tomorrow night and I really need your help.

I exfoliated them lots but now they are still dark but also really patchy. My skin on my hands is also no going really dry 😢

What can I do? Please help!!

Rub lemon juice on them.

Or go swimming, the chlorine will strip it off.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 06/12/2019 08:43

Wear gloves?

SinglePringle · 06/12/2019 08:45

If you just want to spot correct (swimming will take the lot off but leave you patchy), either get the Isle of Paradise corrector or run tomato ketchup on the offending areas. Apply it to a cotton pad and rub over.

I had to do this before a holiday. Bikini and bad fake tan is not a good look!

I’ve tried lemon juice and I’ve tried tomato sauce. My hands look hideous 😢

The tan is lovely everywhere else, it’s literally just my hands that I’m having a nightmare with!

Try a fake tan remover - San Tropez used to do one. Use whitening toothpaste and a nail brush on the cuticles.

Ridingthegravytrain · 06/12/2019 11:04

If it’s doesn’t come off detract from them with a really bright nail varnish maybe?!

TammyKat · 06/12/2019 11:05

Wear lots of rings and nail varnish?

Thegreymethod · 06/12/2019 11:06

Dove body can wash is good for removing fake tan if you have any

Aaaarrrrgghhh · 06/12/2019 11:14

I’ve just paid £30 to have my nails done in nude with gold glitter so wouldn’t really want to paint over them. I only own 3 rings (2 being my wedding & engagement rings) because high street jewellery turn my fingers green. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get to a shop to buy any remover. I could try the dove body wash, I’m sure my local Tesco will sell that.

I’ve just done 5 minutes rubbing on more lemon juice followed by another 5 minutes rubbing on tomato sauce. Not sure if it’s helped. On the plus side, I’ve got over 24 hours to keep working on it!

Do lots of washing up! I'm not being facetious, this is how I tone my hands down.

Aaaarrrrgghhh · 06/12/2019 11:30

@ceebeejeebies I will try that!

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/12/2019 11:32

Don’t let yourself get stressed if it doesn’t come off. I doubt anyone else will notice. You’ll look lovely and the last thing they’ll be looking at is your hands.

Elementalillusions · 06/12/2019 11:36

Wash your hands with bleach then just a lot of soap to make sure you get it all off.

I always use bleach to get spray tan off my hands, it’s the only thing that seems to get it off.
Just make sure you wash it off well.

MustardScreams · 06/12/2019 11:39

Banana peel! Gets rid of fake tan really well. Just rub it over and it’ll bring the colour off.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 06/12/2019 11:39

Oh no, how annoying for you! I've heard good things about Bondi Sands Self Tan Eraser if you can get to a nearby Boots?

GoDasherGoDancerGoDonneretc · 06/12/2019 11:46

Sorry, can't help with the tan (although it honestly doesn't look that bad, I've seen worse) @Aaaarrrrgghhh but just wanted to say how lovely your nails look!

Aaaarrrrgghhh · 06/12/2019 13:12

Thanks @GoDasherGoDancerGoDonneretc

I’ve tried the bleach which has helped a bit. May do it again later on. I know it’s probably not a good idea to put bleach directly on skin but I really just want this tan off!

Just do the washing up with washing up liquid. Works for me. Hot water, lots of bubbles.

MidnightMystery · 06/12/2019 13:19

Soak your hands in hot/warm water for as long as you can with washing up liquid.

Mosaic123 · 06/12/2019 13:48

How about putting some make up/foundationson the backs of your hands?

Saltdoughmuncher · 06/12/2019 13:50

Stop rubbing at it and putting more chemicals on, it will make your skin red and inflamed and look worse.

I would just leave it now. If you’ve still got 24 hours then it will probably have faded by then anyway.

Sportinggirl · 06/12/2019 15:53

Baby oil.. Completely saturate your hands and leave for about 10/15 mins then rub with a towel.. It will take it right off and leave your hands nice and soft.

Sportinggirl · 06/12/2019 15:57

Actually the longer you leave it the better, maybe try 30/40 mins, that's how long I have to leave it around my knees and elbows and it always comes off
