HELP!!!! Fake tan disaster!!!!

Aaaarrrrgghhh · 06/12/2019 08:42

I had a spray tan done yesterday. I showered it off last night. Everything is great apart from my hands which were way too dark and also orange! I’ve got a formal event to go to tomorrow night and I really need your help.

I exfoliated them lots but now they are still dark but also really patchy. My skin on my hands is also no going really dry 😢

What can I do? Please help!!

Your hands don't look too bad and honestly people's hands are usually naturally a bit darker than their arms because of sun and weather exposure. No one will notice unless you are about to win an Oscar and have your photo taken on the red carpet holding your statuette. If it's an event, it'll be dark and no one will notice a thing.

Also I'd stop rubbing them with stuff as it's probably making them look temporarily worse. They'll be fine in the morning Smile

I would use sally Hansen legs light spray on them to make it even and lighter - kind of like fake tan make up. But it honestly doesn’t look bad! Also I’d stop with the scrubbing etc as you’ll just irritate your hands and eventually crack the skin/get under the skin blood blisters - maybe not on my hands but I speak from a dodgy leg fake tan experience!!

Ps love the nails!

Weak bleach solution

Concealer is generally lighter than foundation so try that? Easy to pack in a handbag. Only use on the worst bits not everywhere if you dont need to.

A lot of these suggestions are a little harsh. I don’t use gloves when applying self tanner so my hands are always orange and brown. Wet your hands and sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on them. Rub together for a minute, rinse dry and repeat. Your hands will be silky soft and no orange left.

Yep use moisturiser then concealer or foundation.

Lisaype · 06/12/2019 19:02

Aqueous cream..this will moisturise and get rid of that orange! Load a big dollop onto a nail/scrubbing brush and use in a circular motion. It will look much more natural. Rinse with water and apply a really good moisturizer. Also works on elbows, knees and ankles. Do it as soon as you have washed the tan off if you ever have this in the future!

Alcohol
Based hand sanitizer

Use washing up powder on your hands. Worked for me. Didn't leave hands to dry, lifts colour and exfoliates well

afterme · 06/12/2019 21:47

It will be dark. It won’t even notice.

Break up a powder dishwasher tablet and exfoliate your hands with it.

Works a treat.

Talking from lots and lots of experience.

Good luck

They really don't look that bad! Honestly it'll be dark, the booze will be flowing (presumably) and in all likelihood the only person who'll notice is you. If you keep trying to get it off you'll end up with sore, white hands and tan everywhere else. Like a mime. It'll tone down with normal handwashing anyway. Apply some moisturiser tonight before bed and enjoy your night out!

dudsville · 07/12/2019 06:15

I'd suggest you drench your hands in moisturiser, maybe cut the finger tips out if some gloves, or the ends of socks so you're not soaking your nails. Just keep reapplying thick coats of the thickest cream.
