Do you know what you're wearing Christmas Day?

We aren't going too far this year, got immediate family coming to us Smile I'm torn between:

A) Getting dressed up and looking all swish
B) Getting a novelty Christmas dress/jumper
C) Being a slob Grin

What are you wearing? Bonus points for pics!

Somewhere in between, usually leggings and a sparkly top plus slippers.

EskewedBeef · 23/11/2019 12:58

A dress - a bit of give in it, probably sparkly. I wear a dress most days, so something just a notch more festive than my everyday wear.

EskewedBeef · 23/11/2019 12:59

With slippers, of course.

FrogCat · 23/11/2019 13:00

I always go for comfort. Usually leggings, a Christmas jumper and fluffy slippers. The height of style! Ive only ever dressed up on years that we’ve eaten in a restaurant.

Are you cooking? Definitely wear something comfy and not too warm, so you don’t get all flustered and over heated in the kitchen.

GalactiCat · 23/11/2019 13:00

My uniform

MrHaroldFry · 23/11/2019 13:02

If we are in our holiday house (overseas) I will spend the entire day in a swimsuit and get dressed up to go to a local festivity in the evening time. Dinner is more of a fancy roast dinner than what ever have here.
If we are here, I spend the day up to dinner in sweats and a pinny. I will dress up (nice too/trousers or dress) and slather on some tinted moisturiser and lip gloss just before I serve.

Autumntoowet · 23/11/2019 13:04

Baby will be due around then so either big knickers or big knickers with extra padding.
I might try to find sparkly ones

elQuintoConyo · 23/11/2019 13:06

Dress (stretchy and comfy) and tights, with slipper socks cos I'm not an animal Grin

I don't want to be in pyjamas for Christmas lunch, or look at past photos of us looking like slobs. I hate the idea of Christmas jumpers, whether lovely or tackorama, such a waste. I wouldn't wear a jumper with reindeer or snowflakes on during January or February.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 23/11/2019 13:09

Pyjamas. Until I have to walk the cat at which point I'll be wearing as many warm layers as humanly possibly and wellies.

RockinHippy · 23/11/2019 13:12

PJs & probably a pair of knickers if my kitchen gets too hot with all of that cooking 🤷‍♀️

Lucked · 23/11/2019 13:19

I dress up a little but not OTT. I have an older boden dress which has some sparkle which I might drag out as it hasn’t been worn in a while and is only really suitable for the festive period.

peaceanddove · 23/11/2019 13:19

I have several outfits in mind, but currently favouring a dark grey velvet shift dress from The White Company, with pewter ankle boots, black opaques and sparkly statement earrings.

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 23/11/2019 13:36

I do have a (tasteful) Christmas jumper, but it will be too warm on Christmas Day with the oven on, guests etc. It gets worn for going to Christmas things at the DCs schools, lunches out with friends, carols in the town square, going to the Christmas tree farm etc.

Whiskeylover45 · 23/11/2019 14:02

I always dress up swish on xmas day. I cant remember when it started, no one in my family ever has, but I'm sure one year much younger me just decided too and went from there 😂 DH lounge about in his pjs until half n hr before we are due to leave, or people come over, when I'll kick his ass into putting jeans on. Usually get DS, 2 years, a christmas outfit or jumper to wear, for the cute factor. However as he is a twonager, it may be a battle putting him in a little pudding outfit 😂

MerryDeath · 23/11/2019 14:11

some sort of mumu and leggings as i'll be 39 weeks pregnant 🥴

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/11/2019 14:14

No PJs at the table

I have some really soft leggings , navy nordic print and a navy sweatshirt . Might wear that in the morning .

Then a nice bath or shower , some M&S brocade leggings and either a lightweight winterscene top or a black chenille star jumper .
Depends on how cold it is and how the old flushes are doing ,

linentowel · 23/11/2019 14:19

PJs. Onesies. Loungewear.

Comfy, lazy day.

AliasGrape · 23/11/2019 14:21

I usually dress up (new with opaque tights more often than not, possible glitter) and we always did growing up.

This year though we will have just got married a few days previously and the thought of staying at home in our pjs all day is appealing. I do think we will end up at his mum’s for a buffet at some stage though so will probably have to get dressed for that part. I won’t buy anything new this year though.

nicslackey · 23/11/2019 14:24

Something with lots of give around the stomach area!

HeronLanyon · 23/11/2019 14:24

For first time ever I will be in a beach Christmas Day so it will be bikini/shorts/snorkel stuff etc. I have ordered some paper hats to take and may just sport one for evening!
Usually I wear smart but very comfy stuff for Christmas Day - spend it with family so we all want to be relaxed rather than dressed to the nines.
Have a good one everyone.

merryhouse · 23/11/2019 14:24

Not sure yet because my emerald-green lace dress is dead now Sad

I don't wear dresses or posh stuff very much so like to take advantage of special occasions. Previous years I have spent the morning in front of a congregation (choir) so need to look at least presentable; last year and for the next couple I will be watching my older son in his world-famous chapel choir (not that I have been mentioning this at every opportunity, oh no) so definitely need to dress up.

I very rarely get too hot in a dress and tights! Our thermostat is set at 19, though...

You've reminded me that I need to get on with finding a new dress (oh, woe!)

Bourbonbiccy · 23/11/2019 14:33

I have Christmas PJ's for present opening early morning, then a dress for the start of the day, visiting and going to the pub, then I have a nice jumper and trousers for the meal back at the in-laws, then my Christmas cosy and slippers for early evening.

Getoffmylilo · 23/11/2019 14:34

I'll be dressed as a reindeer - favourite Christmas character is required at our table. There'll be a shepherd/fairy/Snow White kind of vibe. Dog is going to be a sheep.

BeatriceTheBeast · 23/11/2019 14:40

I like dressing up a bit at Christmas. I don't get the opportunity too often as I'm a SAHM. My sister will probably still wear pjs or leggings, but I'll be there all dolled up like a twat 😂.

I'm planning either a pleated, green, satin midi skirt and a black top / body suit, or else a green, floral printed midi dress. Either way I'll wear it with tights and black, suede, pointy ankle boots, with a block heel.

happytobemrsg · 23/11/2019 14:48

I have 3 Christmas days - one at MIL’s house on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day at my mums then Boxing Day at my brothers. I have a couple of sequin skirts so I will be wearing them with fine knit jumpers
