Is this dress too much?

I'm going to a 40th birthday next weekend and don't really want to buy anything new. I bought this dress for an Xmas night a couple
of years ago. Is it too much for a birthday party, especially of someone I don't really know? Party is in a really nice hotel.

Thanks!

The second is much classier and more 'natural' if that makes sense? Looks like you just threw it on a look gorgeous in it!

SpiderCharlotte · 29/11/2019 16:39

They're both lovely but the second one is absolutely beautiful. Definitely the second one.

RogueV · 29/11/2019 16:40

It’s lovely not too much at all

Soontobe60 · 29/11/2019 16:42

It's fab! You could blame it up more with some sparkly shoes maybe?

Soontobe60 · 29/11/2019 16:43

First one is better IMO. Second one is too 'safe'

I shouldn't have posted again 🙈 I'm going to have to stick with the original. Tried it on again and it holds me in better. I'm pretty bloated today and in the second one I can see my bellybutton outline Blush Plus I have a couple of little spots on my chest, so the first one hides those.

Thank you anyway!

It’s lovely. If you don’t want to make it a bit less dressy you could put on black tights underneath and wear heeled ankle / shoe boots.

CalmFizz · 29/11/2019 16:48

I really love the 2nd one, green velvet is right up my street.

I think I might be the only person to notice, but I can see your knickers in the first dress ( it’s probably the flash from the camera, but something to be aware of if it’s the kind of event where pictures will be taken.)

Ninkanink · 29/11/2019 16:49

They are both lovely and each looks great on you, so you wear whichever one you feel most comfortable in and it’ll be grand! 👍👍

newshoooooes · 29/11/2019 16:51

@CalmFizz that's just shadow. The dress is fully lined and I had on nude cycle shorts type pants

Stunning.

Tryingtogetitright · 29/11/2019 18:43

They both look lovely! I think I prefer the first one... Have a great time!

MrsMaiselsMuff · 29/11/2019 18:45

I think two has the edge in winteryness. Both lovely dresses.

Lucked · 29/11/2019 21:35

Second dress, I love it. I have seen it on a different thread- what is the sizing like?

StCharlotte · 29/11/2019 21:45

It's lovely and you look great in it. As well you know! Wink

StCharlotte · 29/11/2019 21:47

Ooh missed the second one. Same applies but I prefer the first.
