Hit me with your best suggestions for perfumes

Please help, I have been reading several threads here recommending Perfume Parlour.

I'm quite fond of perfumes (understatement) and though I would make me an advent calendar from them instead of buying one, where I only use half the products.

But which would you recommend? I like the flowery and fresh (soapy) scents. My normal go to is Miss Dior. But Lancome's Miracle, Philosophy's rose perfumes and old Anais Anais are great too.

Was thinking of trying some Jo Malones? But any suggestions please.

I also noticed the recent recommendations for the Perfume Parlour (thanks 😄!) and sent for a sample of their version of Flower by Kenzo and it’s pretty close and seems to last well so I’m I impressed. It’s flowery and sort of powdery so possibly something you may like.

HotCrossPun1 · 21/11/2019 19:16

Just remembered a very helpful suggestion recently (sorry I don’t remember who it was but thank you again!) was about a site called Fragrantica which suggests similar scents to the ones you like. It’s very interesting.

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/11/2019 19:18

If you like "soapy" perfumes then you're looking for anything with a strong iris note.
PP version of Prada Infusion d'iris is even better than the real thing.

I find Jo Malone stuff is extortionately overpriced for what it is- linear simple colognes by and large. Not to say I don't like some of them (wood seasalt and sage is lovely) but guess what? PP is your friend again!

theoriginalmadambee · 21/11/2019 20:36

Thanks both will check your suggestions Smile.

Try some of the marks and spencers ones. They are really good quality ones.
M&s New york, is a great. dupe for chanel allure

MissBattleaxe · 21/11/2019 23:10

Next Just Pink is a wonderfully clean light floral. Also try Jimmy Choo L'eau , Jimmy Choo Floral and anything with peony.

MotherofTerriers · 21/11/2019 23:11

Try 4160 Tuesdays

theoriginalmadambee · 21/11/2019 23:23

Great thank you, slowly combining my calender Smile.

Lush -vanillary is one of my go to perfumes. Some lush perfumes are so hard to wear but i love this. You can get a solid one in a little tub would be good for a calemdar

totallynotchanging · 21/11/2019 23:29

If you like rose, the FM portrait of a lady dupe from PP is nice.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/11/2019 23:53

PP's Miracle is exactly the same as the original.

The JM ones are better than the real thing as they last longer.

I really like the Nivea one too for its clean soapy smell.

PeopleWhoRun · 21/11/2019 23:54

Yves Saint Laurent libre. Absolutely gorgeous

JMAngel1 · 22/11/2019 06:00

Do you order the PP roller oils or the sprays?

TheCanterburyWhales · 22/11/2019 06:15

I prefer the sprays because they're less of a faff.
Also agree the the m&S range, some lovely perfumes in there.
And you could do worse than H&M. A lot of them seem a bit Jo Maloney. Only for about £3.
Ditto Superdrug Bloom.

JMAngel1 · 22/11/2019 07:06

Are there no Chanels on PP? Just searched for Chance - is it called something else?

Honeybee85 · 22/11/2019 07:10

Chanel no 5 L’eau
Pleasures by Estee Lauder
Diorissimo by Dior

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/11/2019 07:28

Yes Chance is called something else,Fabric I think. I'll see if I can find it..

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/11/2019 07:30

Yes,I looked at my order history,it's Fabric for women.

FloraMacDonald · 22/11/2019 07:33

Why don't you try a perfume society taster box with lots of samples? Lots of new ideas there.

theoriginalmadambee · 22/11/2019 10:24

The Chanel l'eau is that the same scent a no. 5 perfume? Much to heavy for me.

@JMAngel1 actually I don't know if spray or roll on. Any suggestions to what is best?

@FloraMacDonald haven't heard of perfume society, will have a look. But will try pp this time as I have heard so much about them.

@TheCanterburyWhales why spray? I wondered if roll on would be better administering.

But thanks for all your suggestions, I'm not in UK (Scandi) so don't know the m&s ones or superdrug Smile.

Perfume Parlour is good but my alltime favourite perfume is Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. It is an occasional splurge for me though!

JMAngel1 · 22/11/2019 10:43

Aah thanks MrsPellegrino

TheCanterburyWhales · 22/11/2019 13:39

You can find excellent dupes of Neroli Portofino. Don't know if PP do one, but lots of other places do. I have an Yves Rocher one.

Chanel L'Eau is a much lighter version of n5. Presume it's a cologne.

I like the sprays because you can get them on quicker and because the rollerballs are a bit scratchy.

The Chanels on PP are hidden in not so plain sight- they used to be as easy to find as the others but I guess Chanel kicked off so they changed the names to more random stuff. Someone on the perfumista thread did painstaking research and found them all a couple of years ago, an advanced search might bring them up.

Honeybee85 · 22/11/2019 13:45

@TheCanterburyWhales

Which Yves Rocher perfume is a Neroli Portofino knock off? I love the original but think it’s massively overpriced.
