In light of the several upcoming engagements for W&K while H&M allegedly take a 6 week break!

Oh dear, these things never go well. It just goes to show that even older, experienced royals are capable of monumental PR gaffes.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 15/11/2019 09:06

Quite myimaginary

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/11/2019 09:06

Emily Maitlis said none of her questions were vetted by the Palace and it's a "no holds barred" interview. Hmm

AppleKatie · 15/11/2019 09:07

Yeh right.

Horsemad · 15/11/2019 09:08

That'll be an interesting watch...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/11/2019 09:11

I think the BBC would have heavily vetted the questions before Emily asked them.
I hope he just says I fucked up, I was wrong. At least that is a start to making amends. But Andre has never been known for his humility and judgement.

IfWishesWereFishes · 15/11/2019 09:15

What did Meghan think she could sweep in and change @derxa? Without having 'served her time' Hmm

It looks to me like she's done plenty of engagements, an overseas tour, and shows up excellently at events; engaged and interested and all that stuff.

IfWishesWereFishes · 15/11/2019 09:18

What would be the point of him saying that though Curly

It'd be patently obvious to all that he was saying it as a PR exercise and he in no way regrets what he did. And the embarrassingly servile BBC are playing party to sweeping crimes committed by the RF under the rug. What a great news institution.

BlingLoving · 15/11/2019 09:18

Even Beatrice's affianced has been left relatively unscathed except for an article or two.

THIS THIS THIS. The sexism and misogyny for Meghan, Kate et al s astonishing. Beatrice's fiancee is a single dad who may or may not have cheated on his ex/ done a runner and the press's interest in finding out is almost non existent. But I can assure you that even though Beatrice is quite far down the line, if she was a man and it was a woman marrying a york sister we'd know all about it. It's out rages and makes me extremely angry.

V interested in the Andrew interview. i don't think you choose Emily to do this interview if you're planning to make it a soft one. Will she be as aggressive as she is with politicians, perhaps not. But i'd like to thin she will ask the tough questions. I Just have serious doubts Andrew can pull it off and so I do question the EDITING process.

AppleKatie · 15/11/2019 09:19

He won’t say he fucked up or he’s sorry (save, he might say he’s sorry that people are offended or some such nonsense).

He can’t afford to admit to criminal offences on the BBC!

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/11/2019 09:23

I agree with you @IfWishesWereFishes, and for some of her projects, there has been a lot of work behind the scenes we never knew was happening.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 15/11/2019 09:25

Has PA ever watched Emily Maitlis in action, I wonder? Because he really should...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/11/2019 09:25

With Beatrice, Edoardo and Daria ( mother of his child) thé press did try and do some digging to find out if there was an affair. However I would say the 3 of them have closed ranks and there is nothing to say.

Béatrice, as far as I can see has not hired PR firms on both sides of the Atlantic and never posts on social media.
The point I am trying to make is the Royals who keep their heads down and keep a low profile get a lot less grief.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 15/11/2019 09:29

Normally I would agree with you, Curly but unfortunately the press are still banging on about M&H's Christmas despite them having gone quiet. I am willing the silent strategy to work because they might then be persuaded to adopt it more often.

BertrandRussell · 15/11/2019 09:30

Gosh. Love the smell of victim blaming in the morning....

BeatriceTheBeast · 15/11/2019 09:32

I think the silent strategy might work eventually, but agree that it definitely isn't the only factor. It would be naive to think so.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 15/11/2019 09:35

Can anyone explain why Hilary Clinton was visiting Meghan and Harry? What is the connection exactly?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/11/2019 09:40

Sara Latham ( Meghan’s pr) was Hillary’s campaign strategist.

BertrandRussell · 15/11/2019 09:41

Dunno. Maybe they are friends? Maybe they have some sort of transatlantic project in mind? Maybe it didn’t happen? Maybe one is a fan of the other? If I was a member of the RF I would enjoy using my status to get to meet people I was interested in/admired.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/11/2019 09:42

Beatrice is on social media, she's just not as big a user as her sister or mother are. You can't blame the tabloid campaign against H&M on them having an Instagram account! They're working royals and lots of working royals have them. Looking at their account I can't see that anything they post is that different from the Cambriges'. Okay so they're fond of their "inspirational" quotes but that's hardly the biggest sin!

The press who stopped to the depths of making an "exposé" out of the baby blanket Meghan used could surely have dug a bit deeper to find dirt on Edo if they really wanted to.

Talking of things the royals may have or may not have got up too, I found this (sorry it's the DM)
when searching for something else as I got caught in a google rabbit hole www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5216399/amp/Did-Princess-Margarets-lover-sleep-17.html?ico=amp_articleRelated

Margaret kept all of Peter Townsend's letters which she decreed could only be read until 100 years after her birth (2030).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/11/2019 09:44

The M&H Christmas thing was only officially announced 2 days ago.
The press will stop frothing about it once there is nothing more to report.
This weekend’s papers are most likely going to be about Andrew.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/11/2019 09:45

Hillary Clinton would, at the very least, be an interesting woman to chat to and if you can't occasionally pull a few strings when you're a royal then when can you? I don't know why it's being referred to as a "secret visit" - is everything secret unless the media has been informed in advance. In that case I'm going on a secret shopping trip shortly!

HM said in a documentary I watched on YouTube that she can use her audiences to meet people she is interested in.
Hillary met Prince William as well to talk about the climate.
At the end of the day Hillary has a book to promote and #meghan will get her more publicity.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/11/2019 09:51

Gosh imagine the outrage if there'f been a photo released of Hillary and Archie a la Obama and Prince George?!?
