If you are in your 40’s what foundation do you use?

I’m mid 40’s and have used Estee Lauder tinted moisturiser for years which I really like but I find by early afternoon all my make up has disappeared and then I look tired and a bit sallow.

Thinking maybe I need something a bit more but I don’t like the feel of heavy foundation on my skin.

Please could you share your foundations if you are of similar age or other product you may use to look less tired. Maybe blusher? My skin colour is quite sallow/olivey with dark circles and I tan easily in summer.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Charlotte Tilbury, flawless filter or something it's called, you will need setting powder but it's very natural but makes your skin look fantastic. Or I would go with YSL - their foundation is hands down the best foundation I have ever had, a little thicker coverage but goes on like a dream.

Also gave up on foundation. I currently use IT Cosmetics CC cream, with a setting spray.

I gave up on foundation and use garnier bb cream. however having seen recent photos of me I think I need to find one for "best".

Northernsoullover · 09/11/2019 21:22

I use Phoera and its 3.99. Excellent coverage but definitely not cakey.

BumbleBeee69 · 09/11/2019 21:23

I've never worn it.. I loathe the feel of it on my skin... I'm impressed by people that are able to wear it.. your skin always looks nice and fresh.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/11/2019 21:23

I'm 41 and I use Clinique Even Better Glow. My skin's quite oily and young looking though.

TheCanterburyWhales · 09/11/2019 21:26

50s and have used and thought "it's OK but not a holy grail"
Chanel lift Lumiere, Vitalumiere and Les Beiges
Armani Luminous Silk
YSL éclat
CT Magic thingy

Currently using N7 hydraluminous and can't see me changing soon. It's buildable but a bit glowy.

I know people rave about Doublewear but it just looks like a flat dry mask on me.

Clinique even better and Charlotte Tilbury flawless finish but I keep hearing great things about no 7 hydraluminous, so am gonna give it a go.

justilou1 · 09/11/2019 21:46

It cosmetics - the original version in winter and the illuminating one in summer. FYI - the colours don’t match up at all between versions so you have to try them on. This is the only “foundation” with a decent spf. (Although I live in Australia, and don’t rely solely on on this - I still use a separate one.)

AndAnon · 09/11/2019 21:51

I’m 42 and use lancome teint miracle after it was recommended on here. I find it is fantastic - light even coverage that lasts and looks a bit dewy rather than dry on me.

Prior to this I switched through the high end foundations every time, never settling.

YSL colour corrector and then YSL foundation, I think the colour corrector makes the difference

Mayborn · 09/11/2019 21:55

I used to used Lancôme teinte miracle but I think they’ve changed the formula, it’s not the same

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 09/11/2019 21:56

L'Oréal perfect match. I'm 43 and get compliments on my skin. People are often amazed I'm wearing make up as it's such a natural look. I'd never go without foundation as I'm rosy cheeked and fair and react to any change of temperature by flushing badly. Foundation evens me out. I never use blusher but have taken to using bronzer on my cheekbones.
I'm intrigued by the EL DW so might get a sample. I tried the Clinique perfect whatever and found it horrendous. Far too thick and heavy and obvious. In my better off days I used a Chanel one but the L'Oréal one has been the best so far.

embolass · 09/11/2019 22:14

No7 hydra luminous too. Best I’ve used, and sometimes on offer. Don’t think you’d regret it

Puffinhead · 09/11/2019 23:10

@DtPeabodysLoosePants, my skin is exactly the same. I always used to dream of having pale skin, I hated my rosy cheeks - healthy glow my arse! Still don’t like them much (and won’t leave the house without wearing foundation), I use a No 7 one but am now going to try the L’oreal after your recommendation so thank you. (I never wear blusher either or any red tops).

Moondancer73 · 09/11/2019 23:31

Lift and laminate by No 7. Not too heavy or cakey

Moondancer73 · 09/11/2019 23:31

And that's luminate - flipping autocorrect

Flurgle · 09/11/2019 23:36

Just started using Nyx bb Bare with me. I hate the feel of foundation and it’s nice and light. I use Becca backlight primer too which is the dog’s bollocks - not too sparkly just a slight glow.

I recently purchased Fenty long wear hydrating foundation and love it.

DarlingCoffee · 10/11/2019 06:33

Another vote for No 7 Hydraluminous

Lizzy1980 · 10/11/2019 07:21

I have used Estee Lauder Double Wear for many years but as its a little heavy it started to settle in the fine lines I've recently started to get around my eyes. After reading a few good online reviews I bought Boutique Serum foundation from Sainsburys. I wasn't expecting much as its only a fiver but thought I'd give it a try. I'm really impressed with it. I'd say it's light to medium coverage but can be easily built up. Have tried their mascara and lippies too and they're both pretty good for the money. Never thought I'd use supermarket make up as I've always used the slightly more expensive brands but I can honestly say I prefer it to Estee Lauder. Worth a try and for £5 it's not the end of the world if you don't like it

Bluesheep8 · 10/11/2019 08:47

I'm 46 and have normal skin. I use bare minerals complexion rescue, benefit boing concealer and Avon finishing powder pearls or banana powder.
