Literally as the title says what do you think to this outfit?

Definitely do not need Spanx!!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 07/11/2019 18:09

I would wear that dress with knee high sock boots. With or without heels.

Blahblahblahnanana · 07/11/2019 18:16

What’s the occasion? The second outfit on your other thread (dungarees and boots) looks better for a pub lunch. The boots with the dress would look better with nude tights, denim or leather jacket and a scarf to co-ordinate the boots

Minionoftheantichrist · 07/11/2019 18:18

Like the dress and the colour but think it would look better shorter (knee or just slightly above). Also not keen on those boots with it. Would go for accessories - jumper, bracelet to give it a bit of ooomph. V jealous of your figure.

Everytimeiseeher · 07/11/2019 18:24

Thinner tights and flat biker boots.
Or
No tights and a heeled shoe
I wouldn’t wear long boots with the dress.

Mammyloveswine · 07/11/2019 18:28

I think it's perfect OP! Think a chunky necklace and a leather jacket or maybe. Faux fur gilet would pull it together nicely!

Starryskiesinthesky · 07/11/2019 18:31

Agree with some others that it may be the angle but because you are so slim it doesn’t look particularly flattering and makes it look a bit like you have a baby bump. Not keen on the boots with it either. Sure there are loads of things you would look fabulous in!

bellalou1234 · 07/11/2019 18:32

I love it, fab figure, dress it up or down. Wheres it from?

Blahblahblahnanana · 07/11/2019 18:35

still need to know what the occasion is as honestly the dungarees with the boots or trainers look far better for a pub lunch.

Also I know you’ve had nice comments random strangers about the knee timberlands, but they are f’ugly, I’d sell them on eBay and invest in a pair of nice boots

Bloomburger · 07/11/2019 18:37

Wear chunky silver jewellery and a leather biker jacket.

You'll look funky, cool and like you've not over thought it.

(Please burn knee high timberlands)

HyperemesisandPND · 07/11/2019 18:44

I cant sell my timberlands. I tried lots of different pairs of boots that were within my budget and they all gaped massively around my calves. I'd have a good inch gap at least between my calf and the boots all the way round. In the end I got the timberlands second hand off Ebay. They are comfy, they look ok with my Jean's and I can tighten them so they fit my calves.
I'm browsing necklaces online at the moment for ideas.

I think you look great OP and definitely don't think Spanx are necessary. Good thing too as I'm sure you don't want to wear hold-me-in underwear for a pub lunch! Dress is a gorgeous colour and flattering on you, and I like the midi length. There's something not quite right about the tights / boots and I think I agree with PPs who suggested the tights are a bit too thick. I'd also add a bit more interest with a statement scarf / chunky necklace or something as otherwise it's just a lot of block colours and looks a bit unfinished. But generally I think it looks good.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/11/2019 18:59

Have you got a biker jacket? Think it would look really good with the dress.

Baby bump???? The OP is super-super slim. People on here astonish me sometimes!!!

Blahblahblahnanana · 07/11/2019 19:00

Honestly the knee timberlands don’t do anything for you, you’d be better selling both pairs on eBay and getting some timberland ankle ones if that’s the look you’re after.

You’ve still not mentioned what the pub lunch occasion is, so that people can advise you.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/11/2019 19:00

Oh and I like your Timberland boots - but not with the dress. Would be good with a little tweedy or plaid A-line mini skirt, or with jeans.

HyperemesisandPND · 07/11/2019 19:39

Thank you remuslupin. They are the sort of clothes I wear the timberlands with. I agree they dont go with the dress at all. I just tried them on with them to get an idea how the dress might look shorter with long boots.
It's actually my work Christmas meal. It is in the evening but my work colleagues wont dress up massively. It will be a smart casual type event. Hence not wanting to dress up with glitzy sandals or anything.

I love the outfit and would wear as is

morningdread · 08/11/2019 07:31

I don't think the proportions of the dress are flattering, the length needs to be shorter with more leg if that makes sense.

Blahblahblahnanana · 08/11/2019 10:21

The dress with the ankle boots looks ok for the occasion, but I’d wear them either without tights or nude tights if you want to wear some. I’d also dress the outfit up either with gold coloured accessories or a leopard print scarf or bag to match the boots.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 08/11/2019 11:12

I think you look amazing OP, your figure, your legs, your hair and the dress on you. I think you can get a lot of wear out of it.

The negative comments stem from you being static in your bathroom taking a selfie. That situation’s brutal. When you’re out and animated it’ll be a different look altogether.

For the work do wear it long but with a heel, ankle boot if possible. Don’t over accessorise, maybe a chunky bangle? Let the shape do the talking.

For day, shorter with a chunky knit, biker or denim jacket and your boots or trainers.

Have you tried it pulled up with a belt so you don’t need to shorten it and still have both options?

Duckbill794 · 08/11/2019 11:48

It’s a lovely outfit. I’d lop a foot off the length of the dress.

Could you pull it up shorter and take another picture-I think the proportions will look better (that makes me sound like a right weirdo! I’m not I promise 😄)

TheNavigator · 08/11/2019 11:51

I think it looks fantastic - love it!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 08/11/2019 12:26

"The negative comments stem from you being static in your bathroom taking a selfie."

I think the negative comments (well some of the most negative) stem from people being fucking rude Wink

MrsPMT · 08/11/2019 12:34

I love it @HyperemesisandPND think the boots look great, plain black of any kind would be very boring, the leopard print adds an edge. I've got a very stylish friend and it would definitely be something I could see her in. Little leather (or denim?) jacket or blazer maybe would finish it off.

Elllllle · 08/11/2019 12:35

Dress is fab. I'd wear with pointy toe black ankle boots and some statement silver earrings (whistles had some fab ones the other day)
