And perfect for the opera

Peachypips78 · 30/11/2019 19:36

I absolutely love that tweed skirt Bridget.

Nancy - you look fabulous. I love those pleated skirts but I'm worried they'd add bulk. They haven't at all on you though so I should just go for it. I like the bodysuit look too so should just be brave!

NancyEspana · 01/12/2019 08:03

Ah thanks so much ella and peachy!

The opera was great. I went with my dad and we saw Rigoletto. A bit of a tragic story, but done in a really entertaining way and the singers were obviously amazing.

I also love the tweed bridget.

NancyEspana · 01/12/2019 08:17

The (female) director also tried to modernise it and brought in a #metoo discussion, which made sense considering the plot was all about women being kidnapped, seduced and dishonoured.

But enough about opera! I'm in pjs. Will post outfit later.

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 09:06

I missed loads in a day and a half, there have been some great posts. I especially loved bridget's black Friday bag and Nancy's opera outfit.

This thread also seems to be causing a spike in sales of Pinafore dresses.

It's officially December, so I've dug out my old Christmas t shirt from New Look to wear later.

Ah cute xmas tee summoning!

Here I am in Asos shirt dress - this season's sustainable range, size 18.
Next leggings, children's age 16 😂. I have weirdly thin legs and they have a stretchy waistband, so they seem to fit.
M&S hiking boots and black socks on show.

Love the opera outfit Nancy, and today’s dress too. Lovely skirt bridget - I’m looking for a tartan skirt actually- I want one like the red tartan maxi skirt Kate Middleton/ Cambridge wore last Christmas but sadly doesn’t seem doable on my non-existent budget.

Love the Christmas t-shirt summoning . Reminds me to dig my festive dress/leggings/jumpers out of storage to add into rotation.

I remembered to take a picture yesterday but didn’t post it. Was not particularly stylish and more about comfort (as usual). Debenhams red herring jeans and New Look t-shirt - both a few years old and size 18. Clark’s boots, also ancient. I wore with the chunky white Sainsburys cardigan I posted last week.

Today I am still in pjs. Got to go out to niece’s birthday later, will attempt to put a bit more effort into my outfit then. Although I’m feeling pretty shit today (found out last weekend I’m pregnant, very early days and I’m so anxious about it, had some spotting today so panicking like mad now and trying to focus on other things like nice clothes but it’s hard!)

Oh my goodness, I know it's early days alias, bit congratulations! If it helps, I had spotting with both of my dcs. Fingers crossed all is well for you FlowersCake.

Would this be your first dc? So exciting! Although also very anxious times.

NancyEspana · 01/12/2019 11:36

But, not bit.

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 11:38

Alias I remember this well, including the anxiety so Brew. Suggest duvet, tea and a cheesy Christmas film as a distraction. If it helps, picture me getting stuck in the cupboard in the dark just now, trying to reach the Christmas tree.

Please don't worry on your own, get an appointment at your surgery (mine sent me for an early scan).

AliasGrape · 01/12/2019 11:50

Thank you guys. Yes first pregnancy - long awaited and hoped for and the result of Clomid.

We were going to do a big clean today and put Christmas decs up but I’ve decided lying on the sofa with mn/ a book/ Netflix is more important right now. DP keeps telling me I need to rest but I think that’s because he thinks it lets him off the fetching of the tree etc from the garage.

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 11:52

If it continues. My surgery were really good at reassuring me. It's really quite common in the early stages (although knowing that doesn't stop the worry). I hope all is well.

Posted too early there.

NancyEspana · 01/12/2019 11:59

summoning, you are taking this getting into your box thing too far Wink.

alias, chilled day on the sofa sounds ideal BrewCakeFlowers.

AliasGrape · 01/12/2019 12:13

I am laughing at you getting stuck in the cupboard summoning. Or laughing with you I should say!

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 12:16

Nancy Grin. That made me laugh. No, I've said it too much. No more boxes for me.

Fell over and got a bit eaten by a memory foam mattress topper we use when we've got guests. DH heard the banging but didn't realise it was me.

NancyEspana · 01/12/2019 12:22

Aw summoning 😂😂😂! God, I hope you aren't claustrophobic! How did you get out?

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 12:25

I did the Mr Bean dance until I wiggled free Blush. It's a shame there's no video evidence really.

bridgetreilly · 01/12/2019 12:40

Thanks, everyone! It was £15 on eBay, which is where I get all my nicest clothes. Could be worth a look @AliasGrape.

Today I am not wearing eBay bargains but am dressed head to toe by one of my favourite designers, aka Mr Sainsburys. The skirt is too big really, but when I put my smaller denim skirt on today, the zip had broken, so I need to sort that out. Hence the belt holding it up, which I normally only bother with for jeans.

bridgetreilly · 01/12/2019 12:44

I really like that shirt dress, Nancy! I can't quite bring myself to get into Christmas jumper season just yet, though.

ringletsandtwiglets · 01/12/2019 12:57

Lovely to see some Christmassy outfits coming out! It’s a bit early for me yet- Mr Twiglets has a December birthday so CHRISTMAS DOESN’T START TIL THEN!

I bought some coated jeans from Matalan yesterday. They are a size 20 from the Curve bit. I’ve not fitted in a size 20 anything for at least 15 years! Either they’re very generous or the healthy eating is working.

What do you think? I half love them and half think I look ridiculous. And do florals work with a leather-look?!?

bridgetreilly · 01/12/2019 13:08

Those jeans look FABULOUS on you, @ringletsandtwiglets. A floral top or tunic would be perfect with them.

Myshitisreal · 01/12/2019 14:08

Delurking to wish @aliasgrape well 🤗 ❤️

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 14:09

ringletsandtwiglets I love the jeans, the contrast between softer floral prints and leather-look works really well.

Peachypips78 · 01/12/2019 16:41

I'd love to go to the opera. I listen to it on the radio but haven't ever been. Nice shirt dress. I saw some cord ones in Sainsbury's yesterday that were tempting.

Congrats Alias- praying spotting doesn't come to anything. What a lovely Christmas miracle- really hope this is it for you.

I keep imagining Summoning's legs sticking out of a memory foam burrito.

Ringlet- I think they look great. One really important thing I have learnt from this thread is WWTFYL. Where whatever the fuck you like. I've spent at least two years thinking I am too fat for various things, and I'm now realising looking at all of you that it doesn't matter one tiny bit.

Today I offer you a heattech black top with a fatface cashmere wrap cardy and a denim pencil skirt from Sainsbury's. The only thing from a charity shop is the cardy!! ShockShock

You can't really see it though.

TheSummoningDark · 01/12/2019 18:16

Help. My indecision is getting on my nerves now.

I should probably start my own thread, I still want to buy one of the Lyra jersey dresses.

www.ladyvlondon.com/plus-size

If I'm measuring between sizes is it better to go up or down? I'm nowhere near as busty as Georgina Horne and I don't want to gape at the front, but I don't want it to be tight either.

Not chosen which one yet. I'm going to miss the sale at this rate.
