Does anyone have a Dyson Airwrap?

I'd love to hear people's experiences of them. They are such a lot of money but look really good - so are they worth it?

I have thick unruly hair which likes to do its own thing (random curls and waves) and is very frizz prone. Straighteners and hair curlers can style my hair on their hottest setting but it never stays more than half a day. The only way my hair seems to stay how it is styled, is if it's dried that way - hence thinking Dyson Airwrap might be the fastest way to get my hair curled and hopefully it'll then hold.

QVC currently have them, you can try and it for 30 days paying in 4 instalments. I’m quite tempted.

SwimmingintheDeepBLUESea · 02/11/2019 20:50

That's tempting but it's only the complete one - I think I just need the smoothing one which is £50 cheaper. But being able to try it and send it back if it doesn't work is good.

I did wonder if I could buy it from boots, try it and return if it didn't work on my hair but wasn't sure if that was technically allowed/ morally acceptable.

I have hair that sounds similar to yours. I bought the full set from QVC and tbh, if you wanted to take it away, you'd have to prise it from my cold, dead hands!

I use it every day and my hair has never been in such good condition or looked so groomed. I use all the attachments but definitely use the stiffer brush, the dryer and the bigger curl barrels the most.

I can do a smooth (blunt ends or curled under) blow dry in about 10 minutes and a full head of curls in about 20. The curls easily last all day.

I love mine. I struggle to style my hair but the curling wands are awesome and make me look polished. I got it as a Christmas present from DH and DS.

Kitkatfordinner · 02/11/2019 22:01

Does it work on fine hair?

tigger001 · 02/11/2019 22:02

I have one and would definitely recommend them.

GinandGingerBeer · 02/11/2019 22:42

I love mine. Works really well and I have the full set and use all the attachments. You need to style it from damp and use the cold shot to make curls last. Takes a bit of getting used to but it's worth it.

wtfAreYouOnAbout · 02/11/2019 22:47

I never heard of it and just googled - £450?! Crikey

Op you can have a demo in some retailers e.g. boots or John Lewis before you buy. If you buy directly from Dyson you have a month to return as well I think. I have one and I’m not very adventurous with it but even though I really only use the smoothing brush I’d be loathe to part with it!

MyKingdomForBrie · 02/11/2019 22:57

Yep love it, the curls last days.

Tacobellend · 02/11/2019 22:58

I love mine . Must admit though took me 6 months to get the hang of it when curling . But my hair is in fab condition .

Thiswontendwell · 02/11/2019 22:58

So my DD had her hair curled by a Dyson rep today in a big dept store using an Airwrap. The lady was v happy to do this - my DD is an attractive girl and lots of people stopped and watched and asked questions. And DD looked lovely at the end with hair all ready for her eve out (hairspray applied etc)
But within two hours it had all fallen out!!!!
So we were telling ourselves that this was a lucky escape as we would NEVER buy it - even reduced...
But reading the comments above maybe the Dyson rep did something wrong?

SorrelForbes · 02/11/2019 23:00

The curls need to be done on wet/damp hair.

wtfAreYouOnAbout · 03/11/2019 21:31

How long does it take to style?

Blackswan · 03/11/2019 21:56

I love mine & treat it with the utmost respect. Immediately back in its case after use. It's effortless - takes about another 10-15 minutes than a regular blow dry.

KatharinaRosalie · 03/11/2019 22:08

I have very fine hair and it's fabulous.

Theromanempire · 03/11/2019 22:08

Ooh glad to see so many positive comments. I've just ordered one through a salary sacrifice scheme at work as a Christmas present for me and am really hoping I'm not wasting my money!

Theromanempire · 03/11/2019 22:09

I have fine shoulder length hair that holds waves/curls well so I'm hoping that it will be ideal.

NorthernGravy · 03/11/2019 23:40

@SwimmingintheDeepBLUESea we have really similar hair- mine is very thick and curly and I’m tempted to buy it off QVC to try it out.

Bofster37 · 03/11/2019 23:43

After about an hour the curls drop.

Rockchick1984 · 03/11/2019 23:44

I ordered it from QVC and it got returned - babyliss big hair is way more effective and a heck of a lot cheaper. The airflow type attachments (the big selling point) made my hair fluffy and flyaway, and the waves didn't stay in at all despite following all the tutorials and instructions.

If I'd bought it elsewhere and not been able to return, I'd have been kicking myself.

helpagirloutplease · 04/11/2019 00:00

I love it I think it's worth every penny. I use it for me and it takes 5 minutes. Spritz water spray lightly. Curl quickly and set with hairspray. So long as you set it it won't drop.
I have 3 daughters so it's well worth the money in the long run.

Twiggywinkle13 · 04/11/2019 00:13

I absolutely adore mine! My hair sounds quite like yours. I am also absolutely useless at using a wand etc. My hair doesn’t take a curl from a wand for more than about an hour. With the air wrap I can curl my hair from damp the day I wash it, shove it in a bun at nights and get 3 days out of it with a bit of hairspray. It also drys my hair so well with the smoothing attachment that I haven’t used my beloved GHDs since I bought it! I get they’re expensive but they are SO worth the money!

MyKingdomForBrie · 04/11/2019 00:23

@Thiswontendwell she didn't do anything wrong as such but the hair needs to be damp. I do mine after towel drying from the shower.

OMGshefoundmeout · 04/11/2019 02:22

I have one and love how shiny it makes my hair but I agree with PP that the curls look great at first but drop very quickly. I even had a free demo blow dry at the Dyson showroom in Oxford Street to try and improve my technique but even with a professional doing it, the curls didn’t last long.

If you buy direct from Dyson there is no P&P and if you decide to return it they will send a courier to collect it at no cost to you. That gives buying direct an edge over QVC because with QVC you have to pay for any returns.
