Stitch fix-worth it?

Since having a baby [though he’s probably too old to blame it on blush] I’ve lost any sense of how to dress! Has anyone used stitch fix and found that it’s helped them have that “ I’d never of chosen this in a shop but having had it selected for me it’s instant love” experience that I’m too lazy to get in any other way?

I think I’m on my fifth one.
I really love getting it, but success wise it’s been a bit hit and miss.

The last box I got I didn’t like anything and sent the whole lot back, they contacted me and have given me back my £10 stylist fee and we had a really good email correspondence about what I want.

If you do want it, I do have a code which will get you £15 off. I’d say it’s Definitely worth a try, I’ve loved some things I would never have tried on, in a store.

I got my first box last month and really liked it.

There were two dresses, a skirt, a coatigan and a top.

I liked the skirt but it didn’t really suit my shape (chubby hourglass!)

Of the two dresses one was the kind of ‘safe’ option I would normally buy and the other was something I would never usually look at - I sent back the ‘safe’ and kept the other option (which I wore to a restaurant that weekend).

I kept the top, a skinny rib v-neck

I nearly kept the coatigan but realised I already had several like it (and I was trying to save money) so I sent it back.

I had requested clothes I wouldn’t normally wear and I got a great mix of new styles and my usual style.

The prices were good and I have now signed up for the every three months option.

I have StitchFix and Lookiero. I'm only on my 3rd StitchFix but it's been pretty good. I've bought something each time. I try to give constructive feedback on the items I don't keep and its listened to and taken into account in the next box.

I'd say give it a go. It's great to not have to go out and shop, you can vary the frequency of the boxes, go out of your comfort zone if you want to, you're under no obligation and you might just find some pieces you love and can build on.

It does seem like it's more about the thrill of something arriving than it is life changing. A friend and I both had a go just as a sort of laugh really, to see what they sent. As with real life I think if you took 8 items to the fitting room realistically you'd want maybe one or two at best and very possibly none. The odds of a stranger calling it are even less likely. I didn't keep anything (though some of it was ok enough) but almost felt I should.

I'm fussy with how fabrics feel, and the fit so didn't stick with it as it seemed honestly no different than going into some shops and trying on a few random bits really, except all slightly pricier than I would normally buy. Shoes I am not interested in buying blind, as they need to be a perfect fit.

If finances aren't any issue I think it's a bit of fun and an indulgence that might be useful if it goes well. Also obviously potentially helpful if you have circumstances that mean you can't get to the shops but if you are able, the JL personal shopper is free and more dynamic as you can swap sizes/styles. Topshop personal shopping experience is also free and brilliant.

Similar, but different, I had a session with a personal shopper at John Lewis when DS was about a year old, which was very good.

I've had one Stitch Fix nox and sent the lot back. I'm 5 ft 3 and everything was too long. My shoe size is 4 and a half so the size 5 shoes didn't fit. I'm busty, so the too-long dress wouldn't button over my boobs. Also got a white t shirt which was thin and see through. When you send things back you can give feedback online, which I did. But it was a bit like they hadn't taken any notice of basic things like my height and size .... Have one more box coming and if that's no good I won't bother again.

I had to email to extend the returns time too as my box arrived on Friday and had to go back on the following Tuesday I think, and I couldn't get to the returns place in that time (due to work).

I’m on my third box now and for what it’s worth I’ve found the service here really helpful as I just don’t have time to shop and it’s lovely getting a parcel of clothes delivered. I like using the app too.

I'm due my second box this week, looking forward to seeing what's in it. The first one almost everything was nearly right, I kept one top and sent back everything else with detailed feedback. I've just lost a fair bit of weight and it's been many years since I've not been overweight so I have to completely rethink clothes shapes and styles to see what suits and I thought it'd be good for that.
You can set your own price bands for items and I've selected never to receive shoes because I have very awkward shaped feet.

I've just tried Lookiero for the first time but everything is going back. I was a bit disappointed with the style of the items selected - very safe and mumsy. Am trying Stitch Fix next so hope that's better

Another that may be worth a look OP is TryTuesday which is through M&S. You put in your details - size, preferences etc and are sent a regular email with suggested looks and items. You then just click to buy directly. It's free to use but just makes things a bit easier than trawling through the full website feeling overwhelmed, and you can see how the suggested pieces work together.

I've been looking at it for a while and they've sent me some lovely suggestions but they weren't really 'me' or my lifestyle, but to be fair I'd picked the wrong 'look' for me on my profile looking back - done in a hurry no doubt! Smile I've now altered this so am quite hopeful going forward.

I've just had my first box. There were two tops that were too fussy in style for me. there was a fab pair of Jean's from Mango which I kept. We don't have a Mango near us so I've never thought of looking there. The best item was a skinny rib jumper that looked a bit Meh until I put it on and then i looked amazing. So I've kept that.

I did fill out detailed feedback about what I didn't like so hopefully the next one will be better.

The drawback is the short time you have to return stuff. I can only get to the Post Office at a weekend so that threw me.

I’ve had three stitch fix boxes now. First one was great and I kept quite a few items. Next one was really off and ignored some of my preferences ( I had down no checks and two items were checks) - the one item I did like was unfortunately damaged. Last box I’ve sent back the whole lot and asked to switch stylists.

I give quite a detailed note before each fix and also so the style update. I’m going to try one more box as it has opened my eyes to other brands, styles I probably wouldn’t have considered. I am also quite busty though and am not sure figure is taken into account.

I do find the customer service there great though.

I've just had my 4th StitchFix box and I loved 4 of the 5 items. I kept 3 pieces (a midi skirt, long cardigan and a skinny rub jumper) as one item is quite similar to things I have already. This is definitely the best selection I've had from them so I think it's worth persevering with your stylist so they can get to know you.

Yes I agree I think you need to allow a bit of time for the stylist to get your likes and dislikes, but for me the convenience outweighs any negatives. Definitely would recommend particularly if you’re time poor and I often ask my stylist to look for specific things for certain occasions which I’ve got coming up which has been helpful.
