Snag tights

I have read rave reviews about Snag tights so ordered a pair I received this morning. They are 80 denier black and are quite see-through. I have only had them on for a couple of hours and they fit well and don’t fall down but I am seriously underwhelmed by the fabric. It’s not that smooth and I suspect it will chaff in my thighs. I am a 16/18 so I don’t have trouble finding tights. Considering buying different tights on my way to work.
Have I bought the wrong style? Those who have given them rave reviews, are they about a specific type or style?

I was wondering the other day if people are being paid to suggest them on various forums. People are evangelical about them and I didn’t understand why either.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 29/10/2019 09:23

I’m definitely not being paid - I do love my snag tights. They are the only type that don’t roll down at the waist for me.

I’m short but fat so short tights are too tight around my waist and longer length thoughts bunch at my ankle in a Nora Batty manner.

I’ve been wearing Snag tights for over a year and haven’t had any chaffing issues. The 80 deniers are also very durable.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 29/10/2019 09:25

I find them really comfy. I agree they're not as thick as I'd like, but I can wear them all day with no issues.

ClapHandsAndSaveTheFairies · 29/10/2019 09:35

I only wear the brightly coloured ones, they're much thicker then yours but they're amazing and I certainly rave about them. I've always had issues getting tights which fit my shape.

Astella22 · 29/10/2019 09:48

I also love mine, I purchased them after a recommendation on mm and have even bought some as presents for people

KevinKlineSwoon · 29/10/2019 10:46

Maybe I was just expecting more. I thought they'd be markedly different from M&S or supermarket tights and I don't think they are. I don't dislike them enough to return them but they are just average. But I have never found it hard to find tights that fit so maybe they are better for different body-shapes to me. I have walked round loads now and they aren't chaffing which is good.

I've got loads and think they're brilliant. I've never had tights that fit properly before these. Mine have lasted ages and the black ones I bought last autumn are still good apart from a hole in one pair because I'm clumsy. No chafing either.

TileFloors · 29/10/2019 11:06

I also suspect astroturfing from the amount of rave reviews all over the internet, Facebook, forums etc. It’s a pair of bloody tights, not a cure for cancer.

Personally I’ve always got on really well with M&S tights (was very happy to be in the Marble Arch branch the other day and see they’ve got in tights for every possible eventuality; I bought three different sorts of thermal tights to try out) and also Boots tights, available on just about every high street.

Bimbleberries · 29/10/2019 11:17

I've just bought some too, as I loved their shorts. The tights however aren't that special. They're fine, but I preferred Heist for the high waist. But snag are a lot cheaper! So I'll more likely buy them again.

Has anyone cut the feet off to make footless tights? I like socks in boots and layering tights and socks gets uncomfortable so I thought about cutting off the foot - not sure if it'll fray though, or if the stretch/fit of the rest of the tights will be gone without the tension of the full foot.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 29/10/2019 11:19

I'm not being paid either and love mine. If you've never had the tights struggle of 'fits in the waist but gathers at the ankles' or 'fits in the leg but rolls down abruptly at the waist' you're probably not going to fully appreciate how lovely it is to have tights that you're not constantly having to adjust in some way. They just fit well and wash well and have a great colour selection.

peachgreen · 29/10/2019 11:21

I'm not paid. As someone who does struggle to get other tights to fit (if they're wide enough at the waist they're too short, or the waist is high enough but the legs are too short, or the legs are miles long and gather at the ankles, and either way they're fucking uncomfortable and roll down) they're a godsend. They're not really aimed at people who can get high street brands that fit.

ClientListQueen · 29/10/2019 11:23

Not paid. I'm 5ft 10 and size 16 and no others fit
They're usually too tight in the thigh/crotch area, or not long enough so the waist rolls down or just uncomfortable

SwimmingintheDeepBLUESea · 29/10/2019 12:30

I think they are brilliant tights for those who can't get on with normal high street ones but don't think they are anything special for those who can wear high street ones. I also agree they are not as soft as others.

I'm tall and plus size - snag are the cheapest tights I've found that are long enough, don't dig in at waist and stay put. Even when I was slim I couldn't get high street ones where the crotch would come high enough, even when sizing up.

I find the 80 denier are fully opaque on me though. You haven't been sent the wrong denier by mistake have you?

TattiePants · 29/10/2019 12:31

Another one not being paid but I ordered 5 pairs after reading a MN thread and I'm wearing a navy pair for the first time today. I'm really pleased with them and at 5ft 11, finding tights that don't fall down is a real challenge.

EraOfTheGrey · 29/10/2019 12:43

I love them too. I have sensitive skin and other tights make me fidget and itch. I do like fully opaque tights and thought 80 would be too thin but they really aren't. I can happily wear my snags all day in total comfort. I have 5 pairs in different colours, they really do work for me.

Sparrowlegs248 · 29/10/2019 12:48

I'm just waiting for my first order to arrive, I hope they're worth it!

sheshootssheimplores · 29/10/2019 12:51

I find them really comfy. They fit me perfectly but I agree they are quite see through. I’m sure as the company grows they shall expand their range to more opaque varieties.

sheshootssheimplores · 29/10/2019 12:52

I did post a realistic picture on another thread a while back as I was wearing my black pair.

WooMaWang · 29/10/2019 12:55

I'm not paid either. I like them because they're long in the leg (and quite narrow in the leg).

I do think they should have separate A and B sizes though. Because, actually mine could do with being a bit tighter. But I don't want them to be shorter in the leg.

I'm not sure how well they'd work if you have short legs though.

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 29/10/2019 13:00

I thought that there were loads of fake reviews too until a friend I trust (who would never post fake reviews) raved about them. I bought three pairs and can honestly say they are the most comfortable and best fitting tights I've worn.

peachgreen · 29/10/2019 13:01

Mine are more opaque than that but I do size up so maybe that's why.

MurderOfGoths · 29/10/2019 13:03

I got my first pair last week, and I love them. It's the first pair of tights I've had that I didn't have to keep adjusting all day. I could have done with them being a tiny bit shorter, but I'm 4ft 10 so can accept that. I'd rather they were slightly too long than constantly rolling down

Sauvignonblanket · 29/10/2019 13:16

I completely agree with you OP - I'm the same size and prefer my M&S versions. The Snag equivalent is too big and not supportive enough.

TheClitterati · 29/10/2019 14:01

I'm an 18/20 and have just spent 2 days wearing Snag tights around Disneyland Paris in total comfort - no chaffing at all. On Saturday we were at park for 17 hours walking, queuing, getting on & off rides etc - and I swear they were perfect. I was previously a fan of M&S tights but there is no way I would wear (or expect to wear) other tights for such high activity days and be comfortable/unchaffed.

I'm not paid by Snag - just a VERY happy customer.

ShyAmy333 · 29/10/2019 14:07

been meaning to try a pair of these being trans I struggle with tights bunching around my stomach
