Suitable wedding dress

Getting married. Don't want a traditional wedding dress or a white/ ivory dress. The wedding is pretty relaxed affair. Town hall wedding and an old Victorian boozer for the party.

I have just stumbled across this dress and think it would look good with a blush coloured flower crown/head band and some killer heels.

Opinions? Could I get away with this as a wedding dress?

You can wear what you want to get married in, if you are specifically making a conscious choice not to wear white or ivory or anything 'traditionally' wedding dress-y

However that dress is a bit odd, IMO.
To my mind, the big 'missing panel' / bare back just doesn't seem to suit the erm... shall we say 'more sedate' style of the rest of the dress (high neckline, full length sleeves, midi length) which seems much more 'frumpy' then there is that length of bare back.

TheDragonFromDreams · 27/10/2019 22:12

Love it! The sequins are banging, and I think the bare back complements the more prim front perfectly.

PennyGold · 27/10/2019 22:13

It's lovely!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 27/10/2019 22:15

I absolutely love that dress - and I think it's 'special' enough that it'll be obvious you're the bride if someone takes a photo without being at all a traditional wedding dress.

My only concern would be the quality, but I think that's something where the only option is to order it and see it in the flesh!

peachgreen · 27/10/2019 22:15

You can wear what you like!

I love the sequins and the colour but think the elasticated waist and cuffs might look a bit cheap on. But try it!

desperatehousewife2 · 27/10/2019 22:18

Wow I think that dress is gorgeous, absolutely love it!!

ChelseaCat · 27/10/2019 22:18

It’s fab

Shockers · 27/10/2019 22:20

It’s gorgeous!!

Mother87 · 27/10/2019 22:20

Stunning!

Thedot90 · 27/10/2019 22:21

Yes, great dress, do it!

Aderyn19 · 27/10/2019 22:22

I think it's the kind of dress that could look fabulous in photos but not do much in real life. You'd really need to see it on before you could decide if it was weddingy enough.
Also, it's from ASOS so you'd need to be sure no guests would turn up in it. That's the danger of going for a non traditional wedding dress.

happygertie · 28/10/2019 06:57

Thanks everyone. I too am a bit unsure regarding the quality but thought I'd order and see. As it's there premium range I was hoping it would be good quality. To be fair, I've seen quite a few very expensive wedding dresses look cheap, and then trashed after a night of dancing so as long as it's not see through or loads of thread hanging off I'm not too fussy. Just want something a bit different that doesn't cost a list of money.

It’s BEAUTIFUL!!!

KTD27 · 28/10/2019 07:07

@peachgreen omg. That third one is the sort of thing I’ve been looking for for a Black tie wedding I have in December. Think it’s a bit bridal??

Morgan12 · 28/10/2019 07:29

When is the wedding?

I love the dress but don't think it would be nice for a Summer wedding.

happygertie · 28/10/2019 07:33

@Morgan12 it's end of September 2020. Although I really wished I'd had booked a November wedding now!

I like it, think it's really cool. I agree see how it fits IRL (and you may be able to get it adjusted to look better if necessary), but I like your concept as a whole.

MangoSalsa · 28/10/2019 07:40

I have something similar from ASOS from last year. The quality is good. It’s slightly see through in strong light though, enough you can see the silhouette of arms/legs/body.

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 28/10/2019 07:54

I think it's gorgeous, perfect for the wedding you described. Congratulations.

RosesAndLilies · 28/10/2019 16:55

It's stunning!

Stravapalava · 28/10/2019 20:31

I absolutely love it!

peachgreen · 28/10/2019 21:39

@KTD27 in that colour yes but I think they had it in blue and black as well!

trendingsomewhere · 29/10/2019 04:43

As the wedding is nearly a year away and it's going to be low-key isn't buying a dress now a bit too organised?

Won't you change your mind and get another dress(es) between now and next Sept?

happygertie · 30/10/2019 07:01

@trendingsomewhere yeah possibly. But I would hate for it to pass by and then I don't find anything I like as much nearer the time. As I'm spending hundred rather than thousands if I find something I like better than this one I'll buy it and stick this one on depop or eBay.
