Suitable wedding dress

Getting married. Don't want a traditional wedding dress or a white/ ivory dress. The wedding is pretty relaxed affair. Town hall wedding and an old Victorian boozer for the party.

I have just stumbled across this dress and think it would look good with a blush coloured flower crown/head band and some killer heels.

Opinions? Could I get away with this as a wedding dress?

You're free to wear whatever you want on your wedding :) (obviously)

If you truly won't be bothered by some of your guests potentially wearing exactly same or a very similar dress?

The style of dress sounds great for the wedding you described. I really like the relaxed feel.

The dress looks nice but I'm not sure whether it would actually be flattering on most people.
That's the kind of dress that would probably look very unflattering on me personally (as if I was wearing a blanket) but it would probably look great on someone that is very tall and slim (with small boobs).

I'm not sure about the floral crown with all the sequins. I think it would be a clash of styles and not in a good way. If you like the dress, I think rethink the head piece.

Love it but agree that a flower crown might be a style clash. You can get lovely barrette and hairband type pieces with something more understated and delicate, like little crystalline flowers for example. It would tone in without being too much I think.

Also with asos formalwear the quality is, in my experience, really good.

I love it

I nearly got this dress for my bridesmaids and its lush. It would look amazing as a wedding dress for a relaxed setting. ALSO- wear what you want and whatever you feel lovely in. That's all that matters :)

MummyofT · 07/11/2019 17:31

Also- I hateeeee flower crowns hence not giving an opinion on that but yessssss to the statement heels :)

Love it!

Lovely dress but I'm not sure about the elastic waist, but maybe some sort of wide belt or sash over it would help?
I'd put a wide navy belt and heels with it.

VenusClapTrap · 07/11/2019 18:34

It’s lovely. And I think a flower crown would look great with it - you are a bride, after all!

Here is someone pairing flower crown with sequin dress and looking amazing (pic from Pinterest)

If it's your dress to be married in, it's a wedding dress. It's stunning and have a fantastic day and a fabulous life x

Love the dress too. it's perfect for a wedding. My daughter slipped away on holiday and eloped with her then boyfriend (no-one knew) and wore a beautiful Moonsoon dress bought in the sales the photo's on the beach look perfect. They are a very shy couple and both families were just overwhelmed with joy for them when they returned home and surprised us all! They have a very happy marriage and a little boy three years on.

SallyB392 · 08/11/2019 10:52

Firstly, congratulations to you and your partner on your forthcoming marriage, I hope that you will both be really really happy for many many years to come.

Secondly, you can wear absolutely anything you like to your own wedding, it is your special day. What I would say though,is don't close your mind to a more traditional gown, if you haven't already, please make an appointment at a local, but not 'designer' wedding gown shop, and go and be spoilt, go with someone you trust, try a variety of gowns, explain that you don't want a traditional, formal gown, that you don't necessarily want white or ivory, and let THEM find gowns for you, try them on and get ideas. You don't need to buy, but you will be able to make an informed choice.

If you walk away, and still want the dress you have chosen, then it is DEFINITELY your dress. But, you may find that in fact you DO want a more traditional gown, in which case you will have no regrets. The worst th I g would be to wear a non wedding dress and then look back at the photos in 20'years time and regret that you missed out on that ' wedding dress' experience.

Finally, if you want a non traditional gown, it is always worth checking out high street shops, Monsoon, is a great place to start, or Debenhams (we picked up 4 bridesmaids dresses for a total of £40' in Debenhams). Or many of the catalogues have some lovely dresses.

SallyB392 · 08/11/2019 11:00

My only concern in respect of the dress you have posted is that you are asking others, so in my opinion it's not your dress. YOUR dress will be perfect, you won't need to ask others what they think.
