Any miracle treatments out there for dry cracked lips?

Each year as soon as the weather turns cold, my lips dry crack and peel. Its started already this year. I must have tried every lip balm going. Anybody had anything that works well to protect lips. Don't get me started on wearing lipstick over the festive season, it makes them worse. Boring thread I know, but any ideas ladies?

Blistex in the metal tube. The only thing that works properly. It's a miracle stuff!

Nicecupofcoco · 23/10/2019 09:01

@michaelbaubles thank you! It's probably one of the only ones I haven't yet tried. I'll give it ago!

Blistex seconded

Might sound weird but, the purple nipple balm is the best thing I've ever used! It had lanolin in it, which is in a lot of expensive lip products x

Neutrogena lip balm, the stick with spf.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 23/10/2019 09:18

O'Keeffe's lip repair in the orange tube, or La Roche Posay cicaplast lip balm.

I would also take a really good multivitamin and make sure you’re properly hydrated. Both of those can make a difference, too.

I found a lip salve made by Eucerin really helpful last winter, as an alternative to Blistex.

Simonfromharlow · 23/10/2019 09:25

I put bepanthan on mine!

HarryDaylight · 23/10/2019 09:29

Carmex and Neutrogena lip balms both work for me.

totallyradllama · 23/10/2019 09:41

Clinique lip glosses much better than any other type/brand of lipstick for me

I was just coming on to say blistex too. It feels cool and soothing from the second you apply it.

Nicecupofcoco · 23/10/2019 09:55

Brilliant! Thanks all!

I came on to say nipple balm too haha glad I'm not the only one!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 23/10/2019 10:00

I use the cocoa butter one by Palmers. Its very nourishing.

MoltoAgitato · 23/10/2019 10:06

Blistex or if they’ve gotten bad, that Lansinoh nipple cream as per a pp. Also a good quality oil supplement helps.

haverhill · 23/10/2019 10:12

Years ago I had chapped lips pretty much all the time. I tried everything.
I had an epiphany when I realised that drinking plenty of water made my lips and skin soft and smooth. It really works.
I also find balms with hemp oil like YAOH brand very effective.

GrandmaSharksDentures · 23/10/2019 10:26

Another vote for Lansinoh nipple cream

Ohyesiam · 23/10/2019 10:28

Vaseline and drink loads of water

Blistex in the metal tube for sure. Also been loving a lip sleep mask I bought from Amazon, I was looking for the Laneige sleep mask and seen a trio from a cheaper brand, it’s blooming brilliant

Beautifullymixed · 23/10/2019 10:56

I have this problem, and when it got significantly worse I found out that I was deficient in iron and vitamin d. They also get sore when my rosacea flares up (but not as cracked in the crease like before - ouch!)
I fully endorse blistex relief cream as it really sinks into the lips, but doesn't dry out in minutes as many others have done.
It also soothes like no other.
I have tubes everywhere.

Word of warning OP. Do not put it in your back pocket and sit in a meeting for hours (warming and squashing it nicely) - oh, the mess!

Beautifullymixed · 23/10/2019 10:59

I also smooth my hyaluronic serums over my lips as well as my face (love Hada labo for this), then apply my facial oil (rosehip or squalene) and moisturiser too.
This plumps them up even before the blistex is applied.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm. Expensive (£16 John Lewis) but great stuff. Recommended by my doctor when my son was suffering with cracked lips.

Eucerin Dry Skin Intensive Lip Balm

EmmaStone · 23/10/2019 16:22

Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream.

I think nuxe lip balm is great. The one in the pot is better than the stick
