My 40th birthday next month-dinner with friends in very naice London restaurant. Want to look amazing (better than my size 14/16 body-busty with too much of a mum run) diet in progress but half a stone is probably all I will manage...
Hit me with your amazing dress options. Happy with up to £500 for a killer dress.
Planning on going shopping for said dress and will provide live updates but will have restricted time so want to narrow down which shops I should hit first...

I love the gold one on you!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2019 20:46

The shape of the gold is great on you, but the gold itself isn't nice at all imho.

Smellbellina · 24/10/2019 20:47

I think you should avoid high necks (I have big boobs too and it makes me feel and look like the matron off Open All Hours)

Thirtyysomething · 24/10/2019 20:50

I think the dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you. Perfect for your 40th - show stopper dress!

DontLettuceBrexitLettuceRomain · 24/10/2019 20:51

Really sorry OP but I think the gold looks terrible Blush was our figure looks so much better in the blue dress. The horizontal middle section on the gold makes it look like you're really wide there.

As an aside though the wonder rate does go bigger than a D! I have the one with the hand prints on and it fits me as a Gcup

MarshaBradyo · 24/10/2019 20:52

The gold is better than the VW, which is a bit too safe, plus you love it more which is very important

Csleeptime · 24/10/2019 20:52

I love the VW one you were wearing. Shape wise mich more flattering.

Could you find a shiny version of that if you want to be more sparkly

Samosaurus · 24/10/2019 21:19

I think you look great in the gold one. Where are you going for dinner? If you think it suits the venue, then you should go with that one :) I had a look on the Bombshell website that a few people have recommended and I think the dresses there look like they are for people much older than you OP - the ladies in the ‘bombshell stars’ section all look fab, but most of them are at least 10 years older than you and going for a mother-of-the-bride outfit.

managedmis · 24/10/2019 21:28

I really am not keen on the gold one, its aging

Perdita40 · 24/10/2019 21:29

Absolutely love the gold dress, have a fabulous night!

Whattodowithaminute · 24/10/2019 21:34

I do appreciate everyone’s comments so thank you. I’m happy to say this isn’t the one and try to find another... the colour seems to be wrong; it is much more gold than I’d like really so will look for something of similar style/cut.
We have a private dining room for the night so it will be a bit more personal to us

The style of the dress unfortunately makes you look shapeless and frumpy and it looks awful in the blue.. sorry Blush

You really need to wear more delicate, strappy shoes to finish of your outfit also.. court / closed toe shoes are ruining the whole look.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2019 21:49

Oh dear. The blue one makes the gold one look quite tasteful in comparison!

Sorry!

Whattodowithaminute · 24/10/2019 21:49

Sorry fuzzy had mentioned up thread that I’m going to look for new shoes this is what was in the cupboard... maybe frumpy is where I’m happy though hey.

The blue one is much worse.

Fuzzywuzzyface · 24/10/2019 21:52

You want to look fabulous not frumpy Grin so don't settle for less!

ShirleyPhallus · 24/10/2019 21:53

The Vivienne Westwood is fine but basically looks like you’ve come from the office

I agree with the comments about Bombshell. It’s very “mother of the bride” and is very safe in terms of its colour palette and safe.

Very odd that the second photo looks so different to the first, I agree that it doesn’t look so flattering in the second pic and makes your midriff look wider but it’s still a beautiful dress

MarshaBradyo · 24/10/2019 21:53

I think NaP is winning the styling in general for good one, seeing the blue one has put me off the gold one somewhat too.

MarshaBradyo · 24/10/2019 21:53

Gold one not good

KatyCarrCan · 24/10/2019 22:17

What about another Westwood? They last so well and the cut/draping is usually amazing.

Apileofballyhoo · 24/10/2019 22:21

The gold one looks much, much nicer in the second pic. Agree that the VW is a bit 'worky'.
