I know I know, they are ugly. But are they deeply unfashionable? I read they are making a come back but have seen nobody in the them!

I bought a grey knitted pair years ago, second hand, for £50. I would never buy them now but I actually really like the knitted ones.

Deeply impractical though as you can't get them wet and it means they have spent most of the time in the cupboard.

I'm considering wiping down the soles and keeping them as slippers? I was going to buy a pair of expensive sketcher slippers as a treat because they last literally years but perhaps I should just use my uggs??

Just use the Uggs, the knitted ones make good slippers, especially if you run out to the bins/the line a lot.

sarahC40 · 19/10/2019 14:54

I’ve been cheerfully wearing my long uggs - structured ones - all week because I’ve broken my toe and it’s the only thing that isn’t making me yelp. Love my uggs - sod fashion

TurnTheHeatingOn · 19/10/2019 14:56

Oh yes they are soooooooo comfy aren't they. Just so lovely to wear! I used to wear mine with skinny jeans, I loved the slouchy look. Just don't think it's me anymore!

I wear my Ugg's until they fall apart. The dds pleaded for uggs this year after a few years of me saying no because they can't get wet but if you buy them from brand alley they are quite cheap. The dds look lovely and were delighted with them

strawberry2017 · 19/10/2019 15:17

Who cares what the fashionistas think, if you like them wear them. I wear mine and don't care if people think they are ugly. They make me happy and only my opinion matters! X

ParkheadParadise · 19/10/2019 15:24

I've got 6 pairs. In the winter I live in my uggs.
Who cares what others think.

confusedmaybe · 19/10/2019 16:44

I'm after a new short chestnut pair. I have tall chestnut and black uggs. Not worn them yet though

TurnTheHeatingOn · 19/10/2019 17:45

I care what others think! Well, I don't care if I love something and feel confident in it but as I don't feel my uggs "suit" me anymore I care more. Also - those of you who live in them in winter, do you live in dry places?! It's done nothing but rain for the last 6 weeks where I am Angry

I've just bought a pair of Emu's so a very close cousin of the UGG and I can't wait to have toasty warm feet this winter. I doubt I'll wear them much outside the house but I don't care if people hate them. They're an upgrade cos my crocs are currently falling apart.

leasedaudi · 19/10/2019 18:50

They are indoor slippers! You can buy leather ones with sheepskin linings which are outdoor shoes.

AgathaTheAardvark · 19/10/2019 20:59

They are slippers. Just wear them indoors...like slippers Smile!

I wouldn't wear Uggs outside the house if you paid me, but I would 100% wear them as slippers.

Sagradafamiliar · 19/10/2019 21:35

Yes, they're slippers.

OkayGo · 19/10/2019 21:36

I've got uggs, they're just so wonderfully warm. Sod it all.

Mummy2one2016 · 19/10/2019 21:39

I love ugg boots on cold days although I do usually wear them with tights and skirts or dresses. Invest in a good protector spray. Then make sure to dry them out if they get wet.

Mandatorymongoose · 19/10/2019 21:58

I have some like this these which are a bit sturdier and waterproof but still pretty classic Uggs. No one has ever accused me of being fashionable though.

OooErMissus · 19/10/2019 21:58

They are slippers - so just wear them as slippers!

Also, do you need to worry about what other people think in the privacy of your own home?

TurnTheHeatingOn · 20/10/2019 07:48

I don't give a shit what people think of me in my own home, hence why I said I'm happy to turn them into slippers. However I wasn't sure if I was ready to turn them into purely indoor shoes yet as I still quite like them with my jeans.

As I just can't see myself actually wearing them out anymore, I think I will now retire them as it's just a waste of money to buy more slippers.

Those of you saying they are slippers like it's a fact - they were sold and designed as outdoor footwear...I have not accidentally bought slippers to wear outside!

Babybel90 · 20/10/2019 08:24

Don’t be ashamed OP, wear them outdoors with pride!

I love Uggs, I live near the outlet so I’ve got about 5 pairs Including the knitted ones and the slippers and I wear them all the time!

I was at a soft play in a posh area on Friday and saw a mum wearing them and her little girl had the most gorgeous rainbow sequinned ones on.

Innertwist · 20/10/2019 08:31

Skecher slippers are no good at all after wearing uggs. They are so uncomfortable. Gave mine away to the charity shop. I have 2 pairs of button uggs as slippers & would love a pair suitable for outdoor weather.

I've finally learnt to unlearn caring about what anyone thinks at all.

AgathaTheAardvark · 20/10/2019 08:31

Oh, sorry, I thought you'd bought the slipper version. Why are you going on about buying new slippers in your op Smile?

No, I would not ever wear Uggs outside. But I don't care if someone else wants to wear them.

They aren't stylish, but who really cares? If you like them, just wear them.

If you want my reasons for not liking them, I don't think it's strictly to do with current trends or fashion. I think they're one of those things which weren't all that nice to begin with, (to me), other than as slippers. Then they got copied by cheaper brands and the copies looked absolutely awful. I remember people wearing Uggs and copies of them everywhere, about 10 years ago?, and they were so bad. They looked dreadful, the lighter coloured ones got really grim looking in the m
rain and they didn't look very supportive. So I wouldn't wear them no matter how fashionable.

OooErMissus · 20/10/2019 08:36

Ugg boots are slippers.

Deeply impractical though as you can't get them wet

Because they're slippers. Grin

People took to wearing them as shoes, outside the house, but that doesn't alter the fact that they are actually slippers.

OooErMissus · 20/10/2019 08:37

...and this from your OP:

I'm considering wiping down the soles and keeping them as slippers?

...is why I asked why you care what people think, if you're only going to wear them in the privacy of your own home. Confused

TurnTheHeatingOn · 20/10/2019 09:45

To clarify: I mentioned wearing them as slippers BECAUSE I wasn't sure if I wanted to wear them outside anymore (and haven't for some years so they are rotting in a cupboard).

I was asking if they were fashionable OUTSIDE because yes, I do care about fashion! Yes they are deeply impractical but UGG sell them as outside shoes, they are not in the slipper range! I do NOT care about what they look like as slippers.

I simply was asking what the current thoughts are on ugg boots (this is the beauty and fashion section after all) as I was undecided myself. After weighing it up, they are so impractical for the weather round here that I will gladly wear them as slippers rather than buying sketchers slippers.

Thank you to the poster who said they are more comfortable than sketchers, you have helped me to make up my mind Smile Id rather get good use out of my Uggs indoors than buy more slippers.
