Statement hat and gloves for 4 year old girl

Tootired1 · 10/10/2019 22:19

I bought my 4 yr old daughter a navy coat from John Lewis for school. It’s a nice, warm, practical coat but tbh a bit boring. I’d love to get her a nice hat and gloves set to wear with it but I just haven’t found anything that I like. Please tell me if you’ve seen any great hats and gloves for a 4 yr old to wear with a navy coat, TIA

I don't know about 4 year old girls but I wear a hot pink scarf with my navy coat. I imagine most shops will have that for little girls.

I love these from Monsoon

What is the ‘statement’ you want these clothes to make?

spoonyJoe · 11/10/2019 07:31

The best hat and gloves you can get for a child that age for school is one of those combination sets with the the scarf attached to the hat and the mittens at the end.

That way they have only one item to hang up/look after and they are more likely to shove their hands in those mittens than they are to stand and put on gloves.

homemadecommunistrussia · 11/10/2019 07:39

I agree with spoony dd had a great one with a wolf head and paws very cosy and certainly a statement.Grin

PotteringAlong · 11/10/2019 07:40

It’s for school. They will be lost within 5 minutes. Just buy the cheapest ones you can find.

HuckfromScandal · 11/10/2019 07:42

Seriously she is 4
She doesn’t need to make a statement
She needs to be warm and comfortable
And that’s it.

Get a grip about “statement”

homemadecommunistrussia · 11/10/2019 07:44

Like this?

foodname · 11/10/2019 07:46

I don't know why but this feels all wrong, 4 year old "statement" in style and beauty. I don't know why, if it was posted in the parenting section with "looking for a nice hat and gloves for a navy coat" it would be fine, but this seems so OTT, like the poor girl has got a lifelong expectation of her appearance speaking for her.

stucknoue · 11/10/2019 07:50

For school just pick up some from a supermarket, they will loose them! For best perhaps monsoon

NumberblockNo1 · 11/10/2019 07:53

Just pick the one they love. A unicorn hat with the scarf/gloves attached would be liked by a lot of 4 year olds..

NumberblockNo1 · 11/10/2019 07:54

Or yes the supermarket. They DO get lost.

If you dont have gloves attached, see elastic either end and thread through their coat. We did that for all of infants and daughter loved it for ease of finding her gloves...

chasingseagulls · 11/10/2019 07:54

foodname EXACTLY this. Hopefully the OP will come back and clarify.

Also agree anything for school will be lost or ruined in 5 minutes.

coconuttelegraph · 11/10/2019 07:58

I'm a little sad that reception age girls are being dressed to make statements, unless the statement is "I need to be warm and comfortable". To whom are they making a statement?

Toomanycats99 · 11/10/2019 08:00

Are you actually allowed coloured ones....our school is navy or black only.

Get cheap multipack gloves from primark or Asda and stock up in spring when reduced for future years. You can never have enough......

SpanishTiles · 11/10/2019 08:00

Arf at statement. Poor girl.

horse4course · 11/10/2019 08:02
Confused
MindyStClaire · 11/10/2019 08:05

Perfectly expressed foodname

Chilledout11 · 11/10/2019 08:10

Get a few cheap sets as gloves will go missing.

OrchidInTheSun · 11/10/2019 08:13

FFS poor kid

Abstractedobstructed · 11/10/2019 08:15

Wouldn't she, like every other 4 year old girl I know, absolutely adore some with Frozen or Pepa Pig on?

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 11/10/2019 08:19

My kid lost three hats and five gloves last year at school. Just saying...

BilboBercow · 11/10/2019 08:38

Agree with others. Buy your 4 year old something warm and practical that will be inexpensive to replace.

4 year olds don't need to be fashionable

QuaterMiss · 11/10/2019 09:03

I’m sorry OP!

There’s no harm at all in seeking recommendations for children’s clothes - perfectly sensible in fact. But I’m not sure S&B is the best place. Even the most devoted fashion follower is likely to raise an eyebrow at ‘statement’ pieces for four year olds.

I’m sure her coat isn’t boring!

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 11/10/2019 09:04

Wouldn't she, like every other 4 year old girl I know, absolutely adore some with Frozen or Pepa Pig on?

Or dinosaurs or Pokémon!
