"....what the FUCK! Noooooooo! Please God nooooooo!" Upon noticing your face was older/lines/wrinkles?

Just wanting to feel like I'm not alone here in wrinkly solitude

Yesterday. 40 and saw my crows feet for the first time!

Mumtobe193 · 16/10/2019 22:54

I’m only 26 and this year I’ve started thinking that.

I’ve just had my second baby and I think the fact I'm so sleep deprived isn’t doing my face any favours. The bags under my eyes are horrendous, I’ve got fine lines on my forehead and my smile lines are getting really deep.
My skincare routine consists of a quick baby wipe to the face before bed to take my makeup off (if I can be bothered) and that’s about it. Now I’m over 25 I really need to start looking after this skin of mine and treating myself to some skincare products or I dread to think how haggered I will look in 10 years time.

I find the odd grey strand but that doesn’t bother me too much as that’s easily fixed with hair dye.

  1. I suddenly noticed a few lines on my forehead. I was devastated. I still am a year later (I’ve got them round my eyes too now). If I didn’t have a teen daughter who is so bloody impressionable I’d have had Botox. But I’m sticking to
Mumofboth · 16/10/2019 23:00

Posted to soon!
Sticking to my no Botox rule until I know how I’d deal with my daughter.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 21/10/2019 12:07

@posterDaisyboobooboo thanks, I might pick up a pair and see how I get on. But that's the start of the slippery slope then isn't it Grin God, I really am not aging gracefully, I'm fighting it every step of the way!!

Daisyboobooboo · 21/10/2019 20:54

Lifeinahampsterwheel yes it can be the slippery slope. Or you can do eye exercises to try and avoid.

Derbee · 21/10/2019 23:43

27 when I woke up with a crease under my eye that stayed for half an hour or so. Can’t say I’m actually bothered about that sort of thing though.

CallarMorvern · 22/10/2019 09:40

I'm 50 and not that wrinkly, but noticed I was getting jowls at 47ish, not so keen on those. I might try face exercises, but no idea where to start.
I always look far better in summer, skin is grey in winter.
Hair has been going grey since early 20s, I hennaed it for years, then decided to go with the grey at 40. Hated it, grey hair to match my grey skin Hmm. I dye it blonde now, have grown it and I'm happier with it than I have been in a long time.

CileyMayRhinovirus · 22/10/2019 09:48

26

I look like somebody who's had a hard life. Which, incidentally, I have. But I think that it was health problems as well as life stresses. I woke up with a load of greys, some eye lines, a forehead crease and a line near my mouth seemingly overnight and they have not gone away. I think I aged 20 years in my mid twenties and went from looking 16 and fresh faced to a tired looking 36 very quickly.

chatwoo · 22/10/2019 11:39

Am early 40s. Wrinkle wise not too bad but definitely noticing uneven skin tone and sensitivity (have always been probe to redness).

The stray white eyebrows really shit me though Grin

11hairylegs · 22/10/2019 11:43

Around 40. I’m late 40’s now and seem to be ageing far too quickly.

Vinorosso74 · 22/10/2019 11:49

Around 41/42 my skin started to look older. I had dark blonde hair but the colour is now fading and I noticed a couple of grey strands this year. Highlights are now required more frequently!

WWlOOlWW · 22/10/2019 12:19

I'm 47 and still no lines but I did go gray at 16 !

Its partly generic. My 73 yr old mum doesn't have any lines.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 22/10/2019 18:26

Those who are horrified at finding a grey hair at 30, please try and relax and enjoy your youth with as much appreciation as you can! 30 is so young! Even 40 wasn’t too bad. But, well, 45/46...... the visible changes are rapid. Must be hormones. My jawline is looking like my mum’s. Middle Aged spread has arrived. Loads of grey. Face just looks older so that in certain light I catch myself thinking “who the fuck is that middle aged woman in the mirror?!”

The first time that happens is the worst, I can tell ya! And then when your periods start going odd and you know you’re in perimenopause. That’s when I really feel like I’m past my prime. I could look great in the grunge look in the 90s when I was 23. Stayed out late, drank all sorts, ate all sorts, didn’t exercise. Now, if I wanted to look good I would have to give so much time To it. I’m not sure I could be arsed. I’ve poured a gin.....
