"....what the FUCK! Noooooooo! Please God nooooooo!" Upon noticing your face was older/lines/wrinkles?

Just wanting to feel like I'm not alone here in wrinkly solitude

Mid-40s. I lost quite a bit of weight and at the same time my face started to sag a bit and the crepey neck started. Keep meaning to look up facial exercises.

  1. And it's the jowls more than any lines or wrinkles, makes me look so old and miserable, even when I'm quite happy! It worries me because I know there are products I can get and treatment I could treat myself to occasionally that would help with lines but the jowls are a permanent feature and I'm not sure anything other than surgery will get rid. I feel 45 is too young for such drastic measures, so I'm holding off for now...
LifeInAHamsterWheel · 14/10/2019 13:14

@Mummaofmytribe I'm so sorry for the loss of your son, sounds like you've really suffered through the grief process and thankfully are now out the other side. It's so true that grief shows on you, all you can do is get through it Sad Flowers

Not yet and I am 57. I expect it after 60 ish really. I am mourning my vanishing eyebrows however so haven't got off scot free.

teta · 14/10/2019 13:46

This year and I'm 56. No wrinkles yet but definitely jowls and eye bags.
And my hair has changed and become thinner in texture. So maybe no more long hair for me 😭.

IfNot · 14/10/2019 14:02

28, when I left my husband. I looked 40. However 5 years later people constantly took me for early 20s, sooo...I came to the conclusion that it's the shit life throws at you that really ages you.
Now I just don't really look at myself much. In my head I look 35, and my failing eyesight kindly confirms this when I do look in the mirror.
Concentrate on living life and doing things that make you happy. The skin is just the wrapping, that's all.
Having said that, if I look in the mirror at 50 and see my dad looking back at me I will spring for a facelift! Grin

Paraballa · 14/10/2019 14:04

Last year at 43. And this year my mum has suddenly turned into my Nan.

Delatron · 14/10/2019 16:14

I think jowls are far more ageing than wrinkles. That’s why botox doesn’t really make you look younger and can look odd with a saggy face.
I’m looking in to radio frequency to try and tighten things. Not so worried about fine lines..

Daisyboobooboo · 14/10/2019 16:57

Lifeinahampsterwheel look at face exercising. Tones up the muscles in your face, tightens them and lifts sagging muscles

Daisyboobooboo · 14/10/2019 16:58

Delatron face exercise

KaliforniaDreamz · 14/10/2019 17:05

46

Delatron · 14/10/2019 17:06

Thanks Daisyboobooboo I really must investigate. I did have an Eva Fraser book somewhere. Heard good things about facial exercises.

Daisyboobooboo · 14/10/2019 17:42

Delatron takes time and you have to do it regularly but healthier and cheaper than alternatives

goose1964 · 14/10/2019 19:24

About 6 months ago when I noticed my neck was looking very dry. I don't really have many wrinkles on my face, I'm 55.

Mummaofmytribe · 14/10/2019 21:23

lifeinahamsterwheelThankyou for that kind postFlowers

irregularegular · 14/10/2019 21:33

I'm nearly 48. To be honest, I look in the mirror and think that this is actually a lot better than I expected late 40s to look. Not spectacular by any means - I've never been particularly good looking - but younger than I envisaged.

I may of course be completely deluding myself and seeing everything in soft focus.

Chilli18 · 15/10/2019 18:19

Turned 40 this year and suddenly i have lines under my eyes appeared from nowhere. I always thought i looked younger than i am. But now when i look i think i actually look my age. Think its time i invested in a proper skincare routine!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 16/10/2019 19:02

Thanks @Daisyboobooboo I will look into that because I agree Botox won't do much to help with jowls.

I've also recently noticed a sharp decline in my eyesight! I now often find myself having to hold things out in front of me to get a focus on it Blush I've never had my eyes tested and I'm holding off now as I'm certain I'll be told I need glasses and I just can't afford that expense this side of Christmas! (doesn't help that I hate naturally expensive taste!) But the flip side of that is that I probably can't see how awful I actually look Grin

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 16/10/2019 19:04

I have naturally expensive taste! See, I can't even see to type properly on my phone!

LuxuryWoman2018 · 16/10/2019 19:07

I seemed to wake up Old one day at around 43, sometimes I hit my camera app by accident on the iPad and am horrified by the sight but then I’m looking down I suppose

Daisyboobooboo · 16/10/2019 19:36

Lifeinahampsterwheel I had mine tested when I was starting to need to hold further away. The optometrist said he could give me a prescription but for my eyes I would be ok using off the shelf readers.

Peachypips78 · 16/10/2019 19:39
