Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

Which are the controversial Fly London boots? Just had a nosey around and I'm loving these ones:

I am a boots kinda girl though.

ShowerOfShite · 29/10/2019 11:48

I'm loving all your photos Smile
Today I'm in knee length jersey swing dress, snag black tights, knee high wedge boots, denim jacket and scarf.
I only ever wear black or grey but I'd love to have the guts to do some colour.
I look like a pregnant witch most of the time.

picklemebrains · 29/10/2019 12:01

Cerys, I love Fly!

Castle, don't dis the big shoulders- they work really well for me though the chunky upper arms work less well!. That's an amazing weight loss- be bold! Enjoy it!

ringletsandtwiglets · 29/10/2019 12:02

I’m hanging out at hospital today... Hmm Saw a consultant and now need an ultrasound, so need to wait two hours.

Wearing:
Tesco super skinny jeans size 24
Pumps from Evans
Chunky cardi from M&S XL
Navy t shirt size 22

picklemebrains · 29/10/2019 12:02

Shower, could you start easy and play with snag colours? You could do tights and scarf/bag or chunky necklace. Instant colour.

ringletsandtwiglets · 29/10/2019 12:04

@ClientListQueen I love that shirt. It’s a gorgeous colour! You look very smart without being boring.

ClientListQueen · 29/10/2019 12:06

Thanks, it doesn't show well in horrendous toilet light but it's a lovely deep berry colour, and I half tucked (front only!)

picklemebrains · 29/10/2019 12:13

Very nice, client!

TheReluctantCountess · 29/10/2019 12:19

I’m wearing Evans jeans which I’ve had for years, and a top from the men’s section in Yours - it’s just a plain grey t shirt.

cerys · 29/10/2019 12:21

@HaveFunStorminTheCastle those are the very ones! So comfy and go with leggings as well as dresses/skirts.

alwaysreadyforablether · 29/10/2019 12:45

This is such a lovely positive thread and everyone looks great in their photos. I really want to wear trendier clothes but often find myself defaulting to the bland and boring so I'll fade into the background. Somehow, because I'm larger, I feel like I don't deserve to wear nice things. Then I get annoyed with myself because I feel frumpy rather than fabulous. Does anyone else feel like that?

cerys · 29/10/2019 13:24

@alwaysreadyforablether yes I feel the same. Also that I take up too much space in general and should just hide away. Been struggling mentally for a few years and am going through a low patch again, not helped by work stresses and being menopausal.
I’ve spent too many days this year slumped in my pyjamas, desperately needing a shower and to wash my hair but not being able to. So this thread makes me feel happier and also more inclined to make a bit more effort.

ShowerOfShite · 29/10/2019 13:44

pickle
I really struggle with clothes.
I like really plain things but then I always feel dowdy but when I try a colour or a pattern I feel like a neon sign.
I've just bought a blue/grey leopard print dress from Asda but I look like a barrel in it.
I'm very long in the body so jumpers/tops finish at my widest part which makes me look awkward.

HaveFunStorminTheCastle · 29/10/2019 13:52

those are the very ones!

They are marvellous. I have boot envy.

I've always felt like I take up too much space. Terminally clumsy too, so I feel like a bull in a china shop most of the time. It's not great to feel like that, and I'm trying to work on it. Some days are better than others. It's all internal too, I don't think it about other people, and I imagine you (general you) don't either, so why are we so mean to ourselves?

HaveFunStorminTheCastle · 29/10/2019 13:53

@ringletsandtwiglets Boo to hanging around in hospitals. I had to do that on the regular several years ago. Hope you don't have to wait around too long.

hariboismydrug · 29/10/2019 15:00

Size 18 wearing a tartan shirt and simply be skinny black jeans with black ankle boots

ringletsandtwiglets · 29/10/2019 15:43

Thanks, @HaveFunStorminTheCastle :) I’m home now, thankfully. No idea how the ultrasound went but glad not to be an inpatient again! Hospitals are weird places.

Does anyone else find skinny jeans too baggy at the ankles?

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 29/10/2019 18:15

I've been thrifting over the past few days and I have been consciously avoiding any more purchases in black or grey. In fact I have been keeping a mental snapshot of all your outfits for inspiration! Today i got a seasalt striped tunic and l l bean jumper dress

Plus size what are you wearing today
Adollop · 29/10/2019 18:34

Always and Cerys, yes, this is me. I've never been so big in my life, I'm struggling with poor mental health and the menopause and for the past few years have just tried to hide away in baggy grey and black clothes. I then feel even more miserable because I look drab and frumpy.

Following this thread I'm trying to wear a bit of colour, but having a clue where to start and trying clothes on makes me even more depressed, because nothing looks good.

I've no full length mirror, so no photos. That I'm wearing a long grey tunic and black leggings, I went into New Look, but couldn't find anything I liked.

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 29/10/2019 19:02

@adollop and @alwaysreadyforablether i could have written your posts verbatim, i too am menopausal and have suffered with ongoing mental health issues for the past 20 years. I am by no means a beacon of self confidence however I'm getting better. I have found watching instagram videos of plus size ladies and their clothes hauls have helped me see how we are all beautiful in our own way, we just have to love ourselves first and that's the hard bit Flowers

ilovetofu · 29/10/2019 19:05

Nice colours @NowWeSuckingDiesel !

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 29/10/2019 19:05

Sorry meant to tag @cerys to o

picklemebrains · 29/10/2019 19:24

I enjoy colour, but found that for convenience everything had gradually become shades of great and black. I could dress with very little thought.

So I'm choosing black basics, but loud colourful bits and bobs- jumpers, boots, tights.

I feel that in plain, boring clothes all you see about me is my size. If I wear an unusual cut or colour, that's what people tend to see and comment on.

So it's not necessarily about confidence, it's as much of a disguise as the bland stuff! But it is fun, so try thinking of it that way!

picklemebrains · 29/10/2019 19:36

And this is my Sainsbury's haul! Cover your eyes, that skirt is loud!

NancyEspana · 29/10/2019 20:19

Love those finds diesel and pickle!

Lovely outfits today as well.

ringlets, I'm glad you got home ok. Hospitals are zero craic.

I agree, that if I dress in boring clothes I think people just see an overweight woman, but if I wear something a bit more interesting, hopefully they see my style and personality first. Or maybe they just see an overweight woman trotting around in bright teal, oversized dungarees and think wtf 😂? Oh well.

I have struggled with my weight all my life really. Even when I am slim, I am struggling to stay slim.

So now, I'm really trying not to focus on my weight so much as aiming to be healthy. Because, let's be honest, all the times in the past when I've said I had to lose weight, or had to get down to a size whatever, it had nothing to do with my health and everything to do with looking how I thought I had to, to be accepted or liked.

This thread is fab Halloween Smile.
