Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

Although looking at the photo I just posted, you all may have a point!

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 16:10

Love the cardi! You look great.

I will start a thread and will link here, but then won't mention it again as I don't want to derail.

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 27/10/2019 16:29

@3dogs2cats that might have been my comments re big cardigans and sorry if i annoyed you. What i meant was hiding away in a big cardigan is the issue not rocking a big cardi like you are! And if you look at any of my photos you'll see that i have cardigans in all shades. I was trying, rather clumsily, i see now, to explain the difference between owning and loving the outfit you are in rather than using it as a cover all.

I'll bow out now ladies, keep up your good workFlowers

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 16:31

diesel you're not leaving the thread are you?!

Divebar · 27/10/2019 17:55

Hey come on diesel - I totally understood what you mean. It’s not about making an active choice about an item because you love it or it’s a fantastic colour on you it’s about settling for an item because it’s camouflaging. I tend to do it with small children who I use as a human shield when a camera comes out. Wink

I’m wearing a blue boiler suit but ever photo
I take of it seems to be of my groin. I don’t have a small child to hand.... sorry about that Grin

I haven't kept up with everything so I do t know what's going on- but please don't go anywhere anyone! I can do healthy habits, I can tuck my shirt in, I can wear it hanging out! But I want to do it with you guys!

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 18:36

Come back @nowwesuckingdiesel! Who will we share our mutual love of traybakes and agonising over tucking with? Ok, they may be only MY issues. I am a selfish creature Halloween Wink.

I definitely knew what you meant too! Nobody is offended. Clothes are so personal. We're never going to agree on everything. Don't make me PM you begging you to come back... Halloween Wink! It degrades us both... ok that would just degrade me, but you know.

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 18:37

Amen pickle!

buckeejit · 27/10/2019 18:41

Loving all the looks ladies! I'm in PJs all day as I've succumbed to the bug I've been fighting all week, bleurgh.

@Divebar you were talking about tucking & others about general 'rules'

I've been following 'styled by susie tribe' on fb & they have some great styling ideas for all shapes & sizes - one of which is, instead of tucking in to sort of knot your T through a belt loop at the side a couple of times or use a bobble to gather it at the side of the waist. Hope that makes sense but I've done it a couple of times & like it!

buckeejit · 27/10/2019 18:43

I don't think @NowWeSuckingDiesel is gone permanently, I hope not!

Can't believe so many NI folk on here. I often think there's hardly any on MN. This seems a better place to suggest a meet-up than Criacnet!

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 18:46

buckeejit, I've got a personal shop booked for next summer with Sarah from Styled by Susie! I'm so excited. That's part of the reason why I'm trying to avoid buying NEW, new clothes for a while. I want to start reasonably afresh next summer. I would some day like to book in with Susie too, but it's so hard to get a slot and Sarah always looks amazing.

buckeejit · 27/10/2019 19:17

@NancyEspana that will be amazing! I'd definitely do it if I was in the mainland. Been trying to persuade my friends to do an online one. Feel it's a bit wasted on me as I've already done my colours & style with house of colour & know
My no no's quite well. Next summer is ages away though - was that the soonest you could get?

I actually looked at the price of doing the styling course out of curiosity as would love to do that for a Job, although not sure most people would want to take style advice from me! 😂

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 19:22

I bet you'd be fab at that buckeejit! You always look great! I bet there would be a good market in Belfast and on the coast.

Yes! That was the soonest I could get with Sarah. For Susie i couldn't even book! She's not releasing appointments till January and I bet they'll go like that! I think you can book with Kim for sooner, as she is quite new. She also looks amazing though and has a great looking CV.

SophieRay · 27/10/2019 20:56

Love this thread. Thanks to all who have posted. I've put on loads of weight because I've been unhappy and now I'm unhappy because I've put on loads of weight!! Not happy spending money on clothes the size I am as I think I look awful in everything, but after seeing the pics posted on here everyone looks so great that maybe I don't actually look how I think I look iykwim. So today I went out in black biker boots, black tights, a purple and black dress and black biker jacket. Did my hair and make up and felt great. Made such a difference to how I felt liking how I looked. So whilst I was out bought a couple of dresses, couple of pairs of leggings, a top, some boots and a belt. So please keep posting and giving me more ideas!!! Thank you Smile

picklemebrains · 27/10/2019 21:41

I'm having a small sartorial crisis.

I ditched all the skirts and most of the dresses so I didn't have to bother with tights and 'making things work'- which top works with which skirt etc. Everything was jeans/trousers with a range of different weight tunics and tops.

Then you witches came along and persuaded me into a load of lovely snag tights. I picked up a skirt at a clothes swap which is a gorgeous colour, works great with my tights but none of my tops. So now I've got clothes all over the bedroom, am awaiting deliveries from several shops of odd items I've ordered to try and make it work.

What have I done?! Should I cut my losses and go back to trousers and funky tops? Or persevere with the pencil and tube skirts I'm waiting for?

NancyEspana · 27/10/2019 21:49

Oh no pickle! Sorry we persuaded you to buy Snag tights... in our defence, they are amazing and very, very comfy Halloween Wink!

Hmmmm are you 100% sure they don't go with any tops you have?

I do think the brighter colours take a bit of getting used to, right enough. What is your new skirt like please and what are your favourite tops like?

Have you considered a pinafore dress? They go over loads of things. I have a denim one I'm going to wear with my teal Snag tights and a brown corduroy one which I have worn with my mustard ones. Maybe a fairly neutral coloured pinafore would work over your tops and also with the tights?

SophieRay · 27/10/2019 21:51

Persevere, persevere!! Honestly today I would've gone out in jeans and a top and pretended I was invisible and today I felt great, better than I have felt in such a long time and so looking forward to wearing the items I've bought for this coming week. It's such a confidence boost Smile

SophieRay · 27/10/2019 21:55

X post with Nancy and one of the things I bought today was a black cord pinafore dress which is not something I would've even considered and DD convinced me to get it and thinks I look amazing in it and she is extremely honest (more than I would like at times!!)

picklemebrains · 27/10/2019 22:09

I will consider a pinafore dress. First I'm going with the tube/pencil skirt version, because it will be easier.

The skirt I acquired is beautiful- I've got one top which might work with it, but it's very chunky so I can't wear it anywhere with heating. I'll show you in the morning. It's about the bulkiness around the hips and waist- I need a top which hides that, but it still needs to be shaped or I'll go the sack of spuds route. And it needs to be plain- the skirt has enough going on for one outfit!

ClientListQueen · 28/10/2019 06:59

eBay skirt
Long tall sally top
Snag tights
Office boots
And a Matalan cardigan which I'm holding!

NancyEspana · 28/10/2019 07:20

Oh CLQ, looking fab again! You have a great figure.

pickle, YY, my weight tends to sit low down on my tummy. So, I'm apple shaped, but also quite hippy if that makes sense... I find peplum tops quite flattering over anything right fitting.

SophieRay · 28/10/2019 07:58

Love that look client. I was having a look on e-bay last night, but worry about the sizing so didn't end up getting anything Confused

Will be having a look for peplum tops now, thanks for that tip Nancy Smile

picklemebrains · 28/10/2019 08:51

Here we are- a what not to wear pic. This is the lovely skirt. But it isn't going to work with a bulky top. Something has to be slim and neat fitting, either my top or my bottom.

But I haven't got time to change, so off I go anyway!

pickle I actually think that really works. The trends at the moment are everything oversized and mixed prints. You are clearly a natural fashionista!
