Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

I’m working from home today.... this jumper is not quite so neon in real life. It is a new £6 purchase from Sainsbury’s and I’m going to have to purchase a GuppyFriend bag to wash it in just to avoid polluting the oceans with the amount of plastic that will wash off it. My bad. Halloween Blush

divebar

I always love your colours! Glad you get to work from home today after late finish yesterday.

Your wedding dress sounds amazing.

buckeejit · 25/10/2019 15:23

Awww, @ringletsandtwiglets congratulations! How lovely. I love a wedding& had such fun organising mine. I bought my tiara & vintage veil from eBay too! The tiara is loaded with pearls & I had just seen one like it in a fancy magazine - Harper's & Queens maybe, (not the sort of thing I'd usually buy at all!), had a look on eBay & there was one that was £400 from Harvey Nichols I think, with one careful owner & i got it for less than £20 so well worth checking.

Pinafores-this one from peacocks looks good maybe. I might go to try this red one on tomorrow. I love peacocks for pyjamas incidentally

Ringlets! Yay! Looking forward to the wedding talk... mine was so long ago, it was only a size 14 maybe. A medieval/Tudor style. Looked great.

Can I ask everyone what they think of this coat? The model is 5" 3', I'm 5 6 and an hourglass/heavy in the thigh size 20. I'd wear it with tube skirts, straight leg trews/jeans.

My snags have arrived- I've very little to wear with them, having not worn tights for years! I'll do a pic soon, though!

My wedding dress from over 20 years ago it was a gold and cream dress not as puffy looking as photo with a loooonng antique veil with gold thread. Was a Christmas wedding too. Think my waist was about 26 " at this point. Who knew waists could stretch that much!!!

@ringletsandtwiglets we need a plus size wedding dress thread! Please!

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 25/10/2019 17:11

Gah pickles i replied to your post then lost it. I really like that coat but think you could only tell what it would look like by trying it on, I'm similar size and shape to you and would worry that it might make me a bit square shaped but i do love the coat. Probably not a very helpful reply actually, sorry!

ringletsandtwiglets · 25/10/2019 17:18

Wowwwwwwwww, what a dress, Diesel!

Divebar, your experience terrifies me! There's a plus-size bridal boutique in my city, which might be the best option for me. I remember being fitted for a formal bridesmaids dress for my sister's wedding, and feeling like the Incredible Hulk next to my slim sister-in-law and my sister's best friend.

I'm a quiet introvert, and so is my partner. We've been together for 13 years, and neither of us want a big fuss. I think the wedding will be a small affair, so I don't know whether to go for something simple from a normal plus size clothes place instead of a proper bridal gown.

What do you think of these? Any suggestions for places I can look?

Thank you all for the congratulations :)

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 25/10/2019 18:07

Think both those dresses are lovely ringlets I think the first one is my favourite, could you order them to see what they are like on you and then go from there, I'm sure you'll only get honest opinions on here! And you don't have sausage fingers at all, congratulations again!

NancyEspana · 25/10/2019 18:11

diesel, lovely photo and lovely dress!

Yes, I'd order the two dresses ringlets and try them on to see. They're both really nice.

NancyEspana · 25/10/2019 18:13

pickles

That coat / cape is great! I love it. I also think it might be something i would need to try on, in case it drowned me a bit.

thinkfast · 25/10/2019 18:15

Ringlets are you near London? I had a dress made by a wonderful woman called Shadiye who had a small shop near Arsenal. You can find her page on Facebook (but she's not too into social media so not many photos).

I won't post a photo of my dress as it would be outing but she was wonderful. She knew exactly what would suit me and I adored it. She was also helpful with underwear, matching hair decoration etc. My dress was absolutely perfect and at the time I was roughly a size 18

picklemebrains · 25/10/2019 18:33

I love the second one, ringlets!

Thanks for the coat advice. I think the only way to know is to buy it. Heehee.

buckeejit · 25/10/2019 19:20

wow @NowWeSuckingDiesel - gorgeous, love your dress. @ringletsandtwiglets I love the first, though it would look awful on me so depends on your shape but yes, order them all! My wedding dress was plain-will try to find a pic.

@picklemebrains I would love to wear a tube skirt but not sure how, what do you wear it with? I have a similar throw around me cape & love it.

I feel quite elegant in it!!

Off topic but the kite sale at house of Fraser with code AUTUMN20 has great kids clothes-I got such good value presents from the Christmas thread I had to share here!

picklemebrains · 25/10/2019 19:24

Buckeejit, basically it looks neat like trousers under a tunic, but a bit more dressy. As long as the top skims my belly and bottom, the tube skirt works. I used to have loads but gave them up when tights became an issue.

NancyEspana · 25/10/2019 19:40

What colour of Snag tights did you go for pickle? I bet they'd look great with a tube skirt, under that coat / cape majig! It definitely does look elegant and also very cosy.

Cheers for the code buckeejit! I really should start Christmas shopping...

picklemebrains · 25/10/2019 19:53

Mustard (I have a big spotty jumper)
Bottle green (I have a floral tunic top and a wrap dress)
Purple. Love purple. I'll find something...
And fishnets in teal and black to wear on top of the tights.

Teehee!

@WestCovina please join us here for lovely mumsnetters!!!

itsbetterthanabox · 25/10/2019 20:00

Black Snag tights
An a line black skirt from boohoo
Blue v neck top tucked in.
Beige wrap jumper.

NancyEspana · 25/10/2019 20:07

Oh another Snag tights fan itsbetter!

pickle, I bet the mustard tights would look great under the coat / cape.

. This is a lovely thread. So friendly! I love it.

fizzyfizz · 25/10/2019 22:50

Congratulations ringlets!! I've been following this thread and loving it. I've put on a lot of weight over the last couple of years and have found myself dressing really scruffily but I'm now inspired to smarten up. Have some snag tights ordered too Smile

My wedding dress was size 18 and I was probably a high street size 16 at the time. I didn't want a 'proper' wedding dress (I got married in a pub) but once my mum got involved the decision was taken out of my hands. I tried loads of high street dresses but felt I looked better in a corset dress, and I had sleeves made as I didn't want my arms out. I asked for the train to be cut off and thought the Polish woman doing the alterations didn't understand what I wanted but turns out she should refused to cut the train off as she thought it was beautiful! I just had it shortened to a more manageable length Grin

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 26/10/2019 00:05

Beautiful dress @fizzyfizz and gorgeous flowers too. You looked tiny, nowhere near a 16!

I wish i had bought shares in Snag tights now, I'm sure they are wondering where the spike in sales has come from!

buckeejit · 26/10/2019 07:25

@fizzyfizz that is gorgeous! I was just thinking last night I really should have bought shares on smag & then see @NowWeSuckingDiesel comment!

I have a friend similar size to me & I was delighted to tell her how good smag tights were & she said 'oh yeah I have loads, love them!'

I have given her a right ticking off for not letting me in on the act earlier! Quite excited to have a nosey around the charity shops & real shops today. I really do not need any more clothes but finding other options that suit better than trousers & top is so exciting Grin

NancyEspana · 26/10/2019 08:01

fizzyfizz

I love your dress and it's so weird that even though I can't see faces, you and diesel just look so happy!

I bloody love a wedding.

Off on holiday today woohoo! I'll post a pic of outfit later.

NancyEspana · 26/10/2019 09:10

Gap girlfriend jeans, as before.
Gap jumper, size L, recent purchase, (a few months old).
Mountain Warehouse, teal tshirt, also a few months old.
Asos flatform trainers, size 7, about a year old.
Necklace, as always Halloween Grin.
Bracelets, one Tiffany's charm bracelet, the other was a gift and I don't know where it's from.

So excited to be off on holiday. Sadly not to NI this time, but a beautiful part of England.
