Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

I love this thread, you all look amazing! I’m plucking up the courage to begin to dress myself well, at the moment I just hide it all away Blush! Thank you for the inspiration!

SillyBillyBandy · 20/10/2019 14:16

Checking out Oliver Jonas now, you look amazing!

SubmersibleSandwich · 20/10/2019 14:19

Skinny jeans and a big rainbow jumper.

NowWeSuckingDiesel · 20/10/2019 14:22

@SillyBillyBandy i love that outfit on you, you look gorgeous, and room for roast potatoes too win, win!

justchecking i am envious of your designer clothes, my budget is more primarni!

No photo from me today as i am doing a wardrobe cull and massive house tidy so i am dressed for comfort, like a slob, but a gorgeous body positive slob, obvs!! 😂

alwaysreadyforablether · 20/10/2019 17:27

Just once I would like to look "funky" or "trendy" but nope I always get "neat" or "smart" or "matchy matchy" (which o hate)

picklemepopcorn · 20/10/2019 17:59

Sorry @alwaysreadyforablether ! I love that look- it's so together! I tend to look like a I walked past a fabric shop on a windy day!

I think the issue is that there isn't a great word for your look (well, not one I can think of!). It's a great look, though, just not easy to describe !

picklemepopcorn · 20/10/2019 17:59

By the way, I don't mean neat as tidy- I mean neat as in clean lines, smooth.

Divebar · 20/10/2019 18:03

Well Im a woman who looks better in a wiggle dress and heels but yearns constantly for oversized sack dresses and trendy shoes. So anyway.... today’s man repeller outfit is a black Cos shirt dress over a skirt from Kemi Telford. The boots are old barely worn brogues from (whispers) Boden. I’ve never worn them with a skirt before .... I think they up the frump points quite a notch. I ditched the white cross body bag which was a vain attempt to show my waist. I would wear it with a crossbody bag if I had a suitable one though. I’m loving all the photos... especially the “ stood on toilet” ones. I love the tights , the red lipsticks and the toast jeans too.

I wasn't having a go @picklemepopcorn - it's what I get all the time. For some reason I can't do funky and cool because I always look too buttoned up. I think it's because my body shape is what would be called statuesque or matronly rather than curvy or hourglass.

NancyEspana · 20/10/2019 18:22

Divebar

Love that look! I'd never think to put a skirt under a dress like that. It looks awesome.

I wish I looked neat blether, but I never do! I have fluffy, wavy / curly, short hair and never look put together. I'm embracing the lack of neatness in myself, but I always admire people who look neat! Like, how do they look so tidy? It's a good look.

Your outfit sounded lovely too.

VelvetSoft · 20/10/2019 18:41

Love this thread! I'm a size 20 and have just had to upgrade my wardrobe due to a job change. I'm on holiday atm so not wearing any of the new dresses but I got some nice ones from Yours, along with some chunky black chelsea-ish boots which I wear with snag tights.

Loving the brown brogues, but wonder if they'd work with cankles? Ankle boots hide a multitude of sins in the winter but I'll need something for when the weather starts to warm up.

I'm size 20, hourglass, awful legs but good decolleté

www.yoursclothing.co.uk/izabel-curve-red-leaf-print-belted-skater-dress-p I wear this with a navy blazer, grey tights and boots

www.yoursclothing.co.uk/yours-london-black-floral-tie-front-dress-p this fits beautifully but unfortunately has bobbled a bit where my ID badge hangs between my boobs.

www.yoursclothing.co.uk/black-chelsea-buckle-ankle-boots-in-eee-fit-p these are the boots, they have zips up the side so I can get my ridiculous feet into them.. wide, high instep, cankles makes for an interesting combo Grin

I'm going to steal the chunky jumper over a long sleeve t-shirt, love that.

buckeejit · 20/10/2019 18:45

What an exciting thread to find! I'm a recent convert to snag & now planning on trying out all the dresses that were previously resigned to summer & chub rub shorts.

I'm 20/22 & wore this Sainsbury's dress out in Fri with green snag tights & old Clark's boots.

Tomorrow I might wear an above the knee skirt! Shock

buckeejit · 20/10/2019 18:47

Oops.

I tend to use charity shops & have a stack of coloured wonderfit skinny jeans & other M&S, H&M, Sainsbury's, monsoon

Can I please ask your opinion? I'm going to a posh(ish) hotel for afternoon tea on Tuesday for my birthday. I'll be 53, am short at 5'3" and size 18/20. Would a pair of dark indigo slim leg jeans (I posted yesterday about them, Sara from Bonmarche) be ok, do you think? Will a simple, white, long sleeved t shirt with them be smart enough, or not? I'll be wearing tan brogues, as we'll be walking around for a bit first.

picklemepopcorn · 20/10/2019 19:26

I'd think the jeans were fine, but perhaps a dressier top? A white actual shirt with rolled sleeves, rather than a T?

buckeejit · 20/10/2019 19:29

I'd say if you feel comfortable in a t then fine but could you add a shirt, some statement jewellery or dress it up somehow?

What a treat, I'd love to go out for afternoon tea!

picklemepopcorn · 20/10/2019 19:30

This kind of thing.

I don't have a white shirt. Well, I do, but it's rather casual, with a tie under the bust and no collar. DH only told me about it this afternoon, when he booked it today! I'll have to have a look tomorrow.

NancyEspana · 20/10/2019 19:42

buckeejit

Lovely outfit! You look great. I feel like I say that a lot on here, but it's true!

Love the shirt suggestion by popcorn and YY to statement jewellery to dress it up. I have it on good authority (from this thread Grin), that Evan's do nice jewellery!

justchecking1 · 20/10/2019 20:03

Buckeejit I love that outfit 😊

buckeejit · 20/10/2019 21:19

Aww thanks. I felt ok in that outfit for the first time in ages. I had my colours 'done' a few years ago that helped me feel more confident about what to wear
I'd wear a shirt open over the t in a sort of casual relaxed way.

WombleishofThigh · 20/10/2019 21:24

Thanks for the input. I'll have a look tomorrow, though a lot of the clothes shops in our town are out of my budget.

OvertiredandConfused · 20/10/2019 21:27

Just discovered this thread, so excited!

I’m a size 20-22 now and 5’10”. I’m also disabled and often use a wheelchair. My disability adds to the complications as it severely limits my footwear - I used to be able to make any outfit better with heels, now I wear a leg brace and struggle to find any footwear!

Desperately looking for smart workwear ideas. I also like Seasalt, Boden and M&S - and Snag tights.

Usernameismyname01 · 20/10/2019 21:56

This thread is fab. And has given me the confidence to not hide behind over baggy tops and I've notice how much better we all look with more fitted clothes. Yes they may show the odd bump here and there but looks much better and more put together.
So this is my picture of the day. I'm wanting to start wearing casual wide leg pants and a more fitted tops.

Any recommendations on where best to get from. Not wanting tailored as such, more like the summer linen kind of look but more wintery

Just realised I could really do with a new coat or jacket for this winter. I have a smart long black cashmere coat for work, but my weekend coat is really looking rather ropey and needs replacing.

Any suggestions please? I'm a size 24 apple. Nothing ok tight on the hips...
