Can anyone help me find a ring?

I need to choose my engagement ring, went out to try a few on & have an idea of what I'd like but can't find it...

Platinum preferably
Trilogy diamond
Flush setting I think it's called, where the diamonds are completely encased in the band.
Budget is up to £800ish

I tried one on which I loved (will try to attach a picture) but it was way over budget as the diamonds went all the way round.

Or can anyone recommend somewhere online I could get one made? Is it even feasible with my budget?

Can anyone help me find a ring?

It’ll be the cost of the platinum that will be your issue on that budget unfortunately.

lekkerkroketje · 03/10/2019 13:24

That sort of ring was very common around 1900. All my great-grandmothers had ones like it. You might be able to find one with bigger diamonds for your budget if you look for an antique one. That also has the bonus of being both more unique and more ethical as well as cheaper. There are a couple of good antique specialist jewellers online if you google.

This is white gold rather than platinum

It’s 18ct yellow gold though. Flat/low setting but not flush.

Somethings got to give. Either the metal or size/quality of stones. You will get more/better for your budget with 2nd hand.

Is Palladium any good? Someone told me it was as hard wearing as platinum but cheaper...she was trying to sell me a ring at the time though!

Sorry I'll probably ask lots of dumb questions, I don't know anything about jewellery at all, never worn any!

My engagement ring is platinum and wedding ring is palladium. I’ve worn both everyday for 10 years. Everyone just assumes they are both platinum-definitely consider Palladium OP Smile

Have you looked on etsy? There are quite a few jewellers on their website who do custom made pieces. Also consider moissanite or lab made diamonds to keep to budget.

HippyChickMama · 03/10/2019 13:44

Ooh, well done @RainOrSun I didn't see the platinum one!

This guy does similar styles.

I've also just lost a dozen links to Etsy, where you'll find lots of similar rings. I just searched for "platinum diamond ring" and set the max price to £800.

CrabbitArse · 03/10/2019 13:49

Wow you lot are good Smile

Palladium is good, my husband has that and it’s been good so far.
Only thing is you shouldn’t wear palladium with platinum so if you go with palladium for engagement ring the good news is you can go for palladium for the wedding band too.

pumkinspicetime · 03/10/2019 14:03

If you would consider an antique or vintage ring you would get a lot more ring for your money. They don't hold their value well.

wineymummy · 03/10/2019 14:06

Wedding rings direct? It sounds like an awful place to buy a ring but actually we bought our wedding rings there (went in to the warehouse in Brighton and met the owner who showed us around) and it was fantastic. They have this in platinum for just about your budget.

lekkerkroketje · 03/10/2019 14:12

For antique rings, you want to google gypsy rings. It's not platinum, but I think this is gorgeous

CrabbitArse · 03/10/2019 14:27

I'd be happy with vintage too, my mum, who was a great lover of jewellery, always said it was better quality.

Slightly more than your budget

www.victoria-james.co.uk/product/classic-gypsy-style-round-brilliant-cut-diamond-trilogy-ring/

Search ‘Burnish’ as well as flush setting.

Gilbert82 · 03/10/2019 17:53

I think you should be able to do it within your budget, i know you said online but is there any way you can get to Hatton Garden? I have a ring very similar (not an engagement or wedding ring though) which is platinum with diamonds set flush going all the way round which from memory was around £800/900

CrabbitArse · 03/10/2019 17:55

I've found this one on Etsy

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/610558037/traditional-diamond-wedding-ring-set?ref=searchrecentlyy_viewed-1&pro=1&frs=1

Can anyone more knowledgeable than me see any problems with it or any questions I should ask the seller?

OP posts:
CrabbitArse · 03/10/2019 17:56

Unfortunately no way of travelling that far, I'm up just outside Edinburgh.

TwattingDog · 03/10/2019 18:18

He has good reviews on Etsy, OP. The diamond weight is 0.6ct - are you happy with that for the price? It's also a size L, but says he'll resize for free.

TwattingDog · 03/10/2019 18:18

Sorry, 0.06ct.

CrabbitArse · 03/10/2019 18:21

I don't know @TwattingDog This is all new territory for me, does it seem a fair price?
