What shoes with this Zara dress?

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 02/10/2019 21:56

I bought this Zara dress
I am really pleased with it. The belt gives it a bit of shape so it looks really flattering on.
What shoes should I wear with it? I am rubbish at matching shoes with dresses. It doesn't help that I have large, very wide feet and stumpy ankles so anything strappy and delicate like the model is wearing is out!

Nice dress! I would wear my Dr martens or converse with a dress like this.

Ellapaella · 03/10/2019 07:29

Yes trainers - white ones or converse. Agree DM's or black chunky boots would also look good.

ChickenyChick · 03/10/2019 07:33

Is it very thin fabric?

dimanche5757 · 03/10/2019 08:31

I think a nice pair of ballet flats . Like a Chanel Spectator . You can find a style like this at many different price points. A nice flat. Lovely.

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 08:33

Where do you intend to wear it op?

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 03/10/2019 10:27

I am going to wear it to a bar with friends at the weekend. I will probably wear it for dinners/nights out more than day as I tend to be more casual for daytime!

The fabric is not too thin at all, it feels quite structured really. As I said, the belt really helps to give it a decent shape.

I am currently thinking of black ankle boots, or white pumps. Ballet flats make me look like Pingu unfortunately! My feet are so wide!

I thought black ankle boots when I saw it.

Wehttam · 03/10/2019 10:31

It’s the like the reverse colour option of that monstrosity all the basics wore over the summer, very sheer and usually with a Kors bag or worse and ankle boots. The black version looks more chic but I’d be cautious it could be a repeat of that white thing, ie everyone has it.

hairtoss · 03/10/2019 19:44

I would wear ankle boots with a block heel, (bare legs) I've got a similar dress from Zara and that's how I dress it up - plus I'm only 5ft 6 so like to get a bit of height when I go to a bar so I can get served quickly! (white whistles trainers to dress it down)

Headinthedrawer · 04/10/2019 06:49

Wehttam it is nothing like the white spot dress and OP said it is thick structured material.Your 'basics' comment is bitchy. This would go with lots of footwear-white trainers, tan or black ankle boot, tan knee length .

CallMeOnMyCell · 04/10/2019 06:52

It’s nothing like the white dress @ Wehttam Hmm

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 04/10/2019 07:33

all the basics

Excuse me, - basics?

Bloomburger · 04/10/2019 07:37

Basics? Another derogatory word to describe a woman from another woman! Go you 🙄

Wehttam · 04/10/2019 09:09

It is basic though, every woman and her dog had it on over the summer, some tragedies are probably still ‘rocking’ it now with converse, vans or Stan smiths 😂. Let’s all be different and wear the same see through dress. It’s like that god awful black pleather aviator jacket they do, it’s beyond basic, it’s Zara not Prada.

CallMeOnMyCell · 04/10/2019 10:20

Or let’s allow women to wear what they like and stop judging and calling them as ‘basic’ and ‘tragic’. Grow up.

BruceAndNosh · 04/10/2019 10:48

What's "tragic" is someone thinking there's something wrong in still wearing an item that is 6 months old.
Isn't "disposable fashion" frowned on these days?

PullingMySocksUp · 04/10/2019 11:49

Are you very young, Wehttam ?
I grew out of that sort of bitchiness when I left school.

There's something very depressing than women judging other women for what they wear. Luckily I am old and invisible and so wear what I want.

ghostofharrenhal · 04/10/2019 12:29

About not than. My brain as well as my fashion sense is failing me.

OP it is a very nice dress I wish I was taller so I could wear that style.

Rua13 · 04/10/2019 12:44

Dress it down with trainers or dress it up with heels. You should be pleased with it as it's lovely.Ignore the hater here.

TiddleTaddleTat · 04/10/2019 13:45

I'd go with black ankle boots with a heel (I'm short?

TiddleTaddleTat · 04/10/2019 13:45

I mean (I'm short).

It's not a question, I know I'm short!

You appear to have a very basic vocabulary to be honest.

Oh don't worry, those comments don't bother me at all. Wehttam appears to have an issue with a dress that I don't even own! Grin

My dress is indeed lovely and looks great on me. If other people decide it also looks great on them and it ends up being a popular dress then...meh...I still have a lovely (non-see through, by the way) dress.

Thanks all for the shoe advice!

Lovely dress. It may have fallen into my Zara basket :)

I would wear it with block heeled ankle boots, or even with my DM-alikes. Plus trainers, for sure.
