Checking in, thank you @QueenOfTheAndals!

With the repliKate and other similar accounts, even if they do buy everything (the same or similar) themselves, they probably earn a small fortune in blog/insta etc revenue. Those are goldmines, if you know how to spin them.

Best thread title yet - well done!

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 30/09/2019 13:28

Going back to the powder blue dresses on the previous thread, I thought they reminded me of the Beauxbatons uniform in Harry Potter (Fleur Delacour’s school). I googled Beauxbatons to find a picture and Kate popped up! Grin

😃at least we can rely on the sun for the really important news!

Re Kate at this week’s reception, I really like this dress from the Asia tour, which I don’t think has ever been repeated. But I’m not sure on the international diplomacy etiquette on wearing a dress designed for a dinner in Malaysia for a reception about Pakistan?

Do royals tend to rewear formal tour gowns? - there were a few on the India tour I don’t think we’ve seen since. Maybe it’s not the done thing to roll them out again for other countries.

In any event, this week’s thing may not be formal enough for this one. But it’s one I’d like to see again.

Thank you for the new thread Queen wasn’t on the last one a lot but hopefully will be able to catch up at some point.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/09/2019 14:10

I think Wednesday's event may be cocktail dress rather than formal gown.

I suspect you’re right Queen

Hairydilemma · 30/09/2019 14:23

Along the same lines, have we previously shared our favourite ‘one hit wonders’ in the royal wardrobes? This dress, also from the Asia tour, is another favourite of mine that I don’t think has ever been worn again.

In fact looking at pics I really liked a lot of the Asia tour wardrobe - though appreciate it was many years (and three children!) ago.

I think Kate’s style may have moved on now so we may never see some of these dresses again - this is definitely from her Beulah/Temperley floaty skirted phase.

Only just looked at that Replikate Instagram account. Shock
Stalker much?
How on earth does she manage to get hold of outfits which must sell out instantly ?

frugalkitty · 30/09/2019 14:40

Curly in the supplement she said there's a group of Kate-a-likes and they buy a load of whatever the just have item is to sell to each other.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 30/09/2019 14:41

@frugalkitty
There is more than one unhinged replikate out there?!

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/09/2019 14:52

@Hairydilemma I liked this look, simply because it looks like the cover of a romance novel set shortly after WWII!

@CurlyWurlyTwirly yup!!! Grin

Hairydilemma · 30/09/2019 15:24

@QueenOfTheAndals - totally!

Have just looked at that Replikate blog... goodness me!!

LaPampa · 30/09/2019 15:27

The thing that replikate account above showed me was a stark reminder that things do not always just look good in themselves. Different things suit different people and different body shapes - and a lot of Kate’s stuff needs her height and also the kind of formal occasion that most of us don’t encounter so often.

Hairydilemma · 30/09/2019 15:48

LaPampa absolutely. Shows why we all need to have our own style and while it’s nice to be inspired by others, wholesale copying isn’t always the route to success!

TipseyTorvey · 30/09/2019 15:55

Oooh Queen that photo reminds me of room with a view. So elegant. Wonder if Kate might have professionally modelled if she hadn't met W.

Spudlet · 30/09/2019 15:59

The instagram account is a teeny tiny bit bonkers, no?

paradyning · 30/09/2019 16:54

That dress with the parasol was Jenny Packham. Kate really can do no wrong when Jenny dresses her. Her designs really suit her.

latedecember1963 · 30/09/2019 17:15

I showed my DH the replikate in the DM supplement to show him my interest in royal style and beauty is tame by her standards.
His response was that it doesn't make me any less bonkers! Before anyone thinks I'm an oppressed wife, it was said with a twinkle in his eye. 😁

frugalkitty · 30/09/2019 17:44

Liking Meghan's navy dress and red shoes combo today.....

frugalkitty · 30/09/2019 17:46

Red slingbacks....
